QB | Derek Anderson | Arizona Cardinals | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Arizona Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt made it clear the promotion of QB Derek Anderson to the starting lineup for the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 28, is not a permanent change on the team's depth chart, reports Darren Urban, of AZCardinals.com. However, Urban notes Anderson wouldn't be in the starting lineup if he was not being given a chance to take over that role.

RB | Adrian Peterson | Minnesota Vikings | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson said the process of turning him into an every-down back has been ongoing for four years, reports Jeremy Fowler, of The Pioneer Press. He said that the team had a great third-down back in Chester Taylor, and now that he is gone it is time for Peterson to pick up the slack. Peterson has also vowed to reduce his fumbles this year.

RB | Jahvid Best | Detroit Lions | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Detroit Lions rookie RB Jahvid Best has emerged as the team's starting tailback, reports Dave Birkett, of The Detroit Free Press. Head coach Jim Schwartz is happy with the team's running backs overall, as he feels the team has a good combination of power, speed and combination backs on roster.

RB | Chester Taylor | Chicago Bears | Fantasy
Chicago Bears RB Matt Forte has had nine carries for 114 yards during the preseason, with 89 of the yards coming on one carry, reports Jay Taft, of The Rockford Register Star. RB Chester Taylor has eight carries for 11 yards. The two spent most of the preseason talking about coexisting together in the same backfield. So far, it seems to be working out OK. "It is working fine. I've been through this in Baltimore and Minnesota with Adrian Peterson and Jamal Lewis, so I know how to work well with another back in the backfield," Taylor said. "You have to help each other out in the backfield because it's going to be a long season."

RB | Laurence Maroney | New England Patriots | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Updating previous reports, New England Patriots RB Laurence Maroney ended last year in the dog house of the coaching staff and it appears he never worked his way out of it because he hasn't sniffed the field since he worked with the backups during the first preseason game, reports Jeff Howe, of NESN.com. Maroney also has not missed any practice time, so there is no reason to think he is being held out due to health reasons. Howe believes the only way to look at the situation is that Maroney's stock with the team has plummeted, and his chances of making the team are slimmer than ever.

RB | Sammy Morris | New England Patriots | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
New England Patriots RB Sammy Morris received the starting nod at tailback Thursday, Aug. 26, against the St. Louis Rams, reports Jeff Howe, of NESN.com. He had five carries for 12 yards.

Washington is ahead of most estimates on his recovery, and he is leading the race to be the team's starting running back this season.

RB | Clinton Portis | Washington Redskins | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Washington Redskins RB Clinton Portis appears as the clear-cut option as the team's starting running back when the regular season begins, reports Jason Reid, of The Washington Post. Head coach Mike Shanahan has said a competition is still ongoing with two preseason games to go, but it would be a shock if Portis is not the starter for Week 1.

RB | Larry Johnson | Washington Redskins | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Washington Redskins RB Willie Parker will be given extended action Friday, Aug. 27, and a good performance could help him pass RB Larry Johnson on the team's depth chart, reports Rich Tandler, of CSNWashington.com. If Parker fails to impress, he will be on the bubble for even making the team's final roster. Not only does he have to impress running the ball, but he also has to impress with his pass protection. Head coach Mike Shanahan said that is an area Parker knows he needs to improve.

Head coach Mike Shanahan said that is an area Parker knows he needs to improve.

RB | Jerome Harrison | Cleveland Browns | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy

RB | Darius Reynaud | Minnesota Vikings | Fantasy
The Minnesota Vikings are making plans in case WR Percy Harvin (migraines) is unable to perform punt and kickoff return duties, reports 1500ESPN.com's Tom Pelissero. "It's going to have to be a week-to-week decision," special teams coordinator Brian Murphy said. "Obviously, his situation isn't one that you can predict. That's the reason why we're trying to rep as many people as we can - to have alternatives." RB Darius Reynaud is the clear favorite for a role returning punts and could also factor in on kickoffs. RB Albert Young could also be used on kickoffs. CBs Asher Allen and Marcus Sherels have also been tried on punt returns, but Allen hasn't performed well and Sherels is a long shot to make the team.

WR | Louis Murphy | Oakland Raiders | Injury
Oakland Raiders WR Chaz Schilens (knee) simply can't be relied upon as a big part of the team's offense this season, according to Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers. And while WR Louis Murphy is far and away the team's best and most dangerous receiver, he still drops too many passes for a real level of comfort.

WR | Michael Crabtree | San Francisco 49ers | Injury, Fantasy

Bryant has been ruled out of this week's preseason game and it's unlikely he'll play in the preseason fnale, even though he will lobby to do so if he's made progress. "If I do good or great," Bryant said. "There's a possibility I might get a couple snaps in next week against Miami." Bryant should recover from his high ankle sprain in time to play in Week 1.

WR | Earl Bennett | Chicago Bears | Injury, Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy

Smith said he has not heard from the club and thinks he would so the team could reach an injury settlement before releasing him. Smith added, "That would be the protocol. Head coach Pete Carroll said the team plans to work Tate in more in the team's next preseason game, but it appears Tate will still be gradually worked into the offense despite eye-popping performances on the practice field. Wide receivers coach Kippy Brown said Tate is doing "just fine" and going through the typical rookie learning curve; he added Tate is seeing a lot of work on special teams, too.

Owens was on schedule for the start of training camp earlier this year, but doctors found a stress fracture in his kneecap, which could have been career threatening.
