Miami Dolphins impending free-agent QB Chad Pennington (knee) will need to undergo surgery after injuring his anterior cruciate ligament during a pick-up basketball game, reports Chris Mortensen, of ESPN.

Prosecutors have charged free-agent RB Laurence Maroney (Broncos) with one count of marijuana possession - for the arrest back in January when St. Louis police pulled over a car and busted Maroney and four other people, according to TMZ.com. Police originally booked Maroney for possession of a firearm, but it was later determined he had a permit to carry the gun. Maroney faces up to one year in prison and a $1,000 fine.

Free-agent RB Larry Johnson (Redskins) is asking for a change of venue from Kansas City in the case in which he is being sued by a lady who claims Johnson spit a drink on her in 2008, according to The Kansas City Star's Mark Morris. "If we can't get a change of venue in this case, it is insurmountable," Johnson's lawyer, Jack T. Bangert said. "We want to go anywhere but here."
