Quarterback

QB | Rex Grossman | Washington Redskins | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Washington Redskins QBs John Beck and Rex Grossman will continue to battle for the starting job during the remainder of the preseason. Head coach Mike Shanahan said he feels very good about both quarterbacks and said the team can win with either one of them.

"I'm going to evaluate them all the way through camp, all the way through the last preseason game. Possibly all the way up to the day before we play the Giants. It all depends if somebody separates themselves," Shanahan said of his quarterbacks. The two quarterbacks alternated two series during the third preseason game, with Grossman starting. Grossman hit eight of 15 passes for 112 yards while Beck hit six of 10 passes for 108 yards with an interception.

The battle appears to be in a dead heat entering the final preseason game.

QB | Michael Vick | Philadelphia Eagles | Fantasy
Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick did better in the team's third preseason game, but he still wasn't particularly sharp. Vick led the Eagles to three scoring drives against the Cleveland Browns Thursday, Aug. 25, and hit 10 of 18 passes for 98 yards. Vick also rushed for 24 yards and a touchdown. He had to escape trouble often, and took a lot of hits during the game.

QB | Colt McCoy | Cleveland Browns | Fantasy
Cleveland Browns second-year QB Colt McCoy took a step backwards Thursday, Aug. 25, in the team's preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles. "I didn't play particularly well. Unfortunate things happened and when you play from behind, you force so much," McCoy said. McCoy hit nine of 18 passes for 89 yards with an interception.

QB | Cam Newton | Carolina Panthers | Fantasy
Carolina Panthers rookie QB Cam Newton started against the Cincinnati Bengals and played into the third quarter during the team's third preseason game. He rushed for 41 yards during the game, including a 16-yard touchdown run. Head coach Ron Rivera said he thought Newton had his moments during the game, but noted there were others the team didn't help him much. "It was great to see Cam in an extended role, but he has a long ways to go," Rivera said. Newton completed just six of 19 passes for 75 yards passing.

QB | Andy Dalton | Cincinnati Bengals | Fantasy
Cincinnati Bengals rookie QB Andy Dalton led the team on four first-half scoring drives. He hit 11 of 17 passes for 130 yards and a touchdown, and his 107.5 quarterback rating was a big improvement over the 30.9 quarterback rating he had entering the game. Dalton said the team's running game, which posted 191 yards, helped his cause by opening up the passing game.

QB | Terrelle Pryor | Oakland Raiders | Transaction
The Oakland Raiders have agreed to terms with supplemental draft choice QB Terrelle Pryor on a four-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Running Back

RB | Montario Hardesty | Cleveland Browns | Fantasy
Cleveland Browns RB Montario Hardesty saw his first action since suffering a torn left ACL injury last year. He had five carries for 15 yards Thursday, Aug. 25, against the Philadelphia Eagles.

RB | Steve Slaton | Houston Texans | Injury, Fantasy
Houston Texans RB Steve Slaton (hamstring) is likely the odd man out in the Texans' backfield, and the Texans would prefer to recoup something for him via trade than to just outright release him. Slaton, however, has not played in the preseason due to a hamstring injury, which could hurt the team's chances of dealing him.

RB | Chris Johnson | Tennessee Titans | Fantasy
Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak said the team will not consider trading RB Chris Johnson this season.

RB | Frank Gore | San Francisco 49ers | Fantasy
The San Francisco 49ers are scheduled to meet with RB Frank Gore and his agent Monday, Aug. 29, to see if the two sides can get closer to an agreement on a new contract.

RB | Fred Jackson | Buffalo Bills | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Buffalo Bills RB Fred Jackson will start at tailback in the team's third preseason game. He has voiced concern over not starting in the previous game and has let it be known that he is not happy with his lack of first-string reps he has received in practice recently. "Who wouldn't want to be a No. 1 back? The big thing is that everyone is making a big deal about it. The thing about me and Fred is that we're pushing each other to get better," RB C.J. Spiller said.

RB | Ryan Grant | Green Bay Packers | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Green Bay Packers RB Ryan Grant has had an OK training camp. He hasn't been bad, but he also hasn't been great. He is in tip-top shape and his surgically repaired ankle is fine. He has also averaged 4.5 yards per carry during limited carries in the first two preseason games. By taking a lesser paycheck recently, Grant's pay cut may point to RB James Starks being the superior back this summer; and Grant may have had to take the restructured deal to stay with the team. If the team goes with Starks, they would have a comfort level in knowing Grant is there as an insurance policy. Grant is considered a grinder, who becomes better with more carries and the team would have the comfort of knowing they could fall back on him if Starks suffered an injury or couldn't handle the increased role.

Offensive Line

OL | Phil Costa | Dallas Cowboys | Injury
