The Oakland Raiders have reached out to free-agent QB David Garrard (Jaguars) after QB Jason Campbell (collarbone) suffered a broken collarbone in Week 6, according to a league source. Garrard and his agent, Al Irby, plan to discuss the situation and get back to the Raiders Monday, Oct. 17, the source said.

QB | Kyle Orton | Denver Broncos | Injury
The Denver Broncos are expected to monitor whether QB Kyle Orton draws interest from the Oakland Raiders after they lost QB Jason Campbell (collarbone) in Week 6. Although the Raiders are their most-heated rival in the AFC West, the Broncos would be willing to give up Orton in return for a draft pick and relief from the estimated $5 million left on his salary.

Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler gave credit for his 115.9 passer rating in Week 6 to offensive coordinator Mike Martz for using a lot of five-step drops instead of seven-step drops and leaving extra blockers in to help the tackles. Cutler hopes to see more of the same strategy moving forward. "We've got to be judicious going forward in what we can do and can't do," Cutler said.

Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said he will decide on the team's starting quarterback for Week 7 Monday, Oct. 17. "Yeah, we're going to sit down Monday and just talk about a lot of things and just decide on what direction we want to go," Frazier said. QB Donovan McNabb was fairly efficient, but he was lifted in the fourth quarter of the blowout loss in favor of rookie QB Christian Ponder.

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick (eye) said the reason he left the Week 6 game in the third quarter for two plays was due to the fact he got some dirt in his eyes.

Oakland Raiders QB Kyle Boller completed 8 of 14 passes for 100 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns. Boller might be in line to start, unless the team brings in a player from outside of the organization, as QB Jason Campbell (collarbone) suffered a broken bone and might be out for the season.

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said Sunday, Oct. 16, that he won't announce a starting quarterback until Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the earliest. "We needed a spark," Shanahan said. QB John Beck replaced an ineffective QB Rex Grossman in the fourth quarter in Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

St. Louis Rams QB Sam Bradford (ankle) suffered a sprained ankle in Week 6 but X-rays on the ankle were negative. Bradford said after the game that he would be OK.


Running Back

Updating a previous item, Dallas Cowboys RB Felix Jones (ankle) will miss at least the team's Week 7 game and likely longer with a high ankle sprain.

RB | Jahvid Best | Detroit Lions | Injury, Fantasy
Detroit Lions RB Jahvid Best (concussion) sustained a concussion in the fourth quarter of the team's Week 6 game. Best also sustained a concussion during training camp.

RB | Phillip Tanner | Dallas Cowboys | Free Agents
Dallas Cowboys rookie free agent RB Phillip Tanner might see snaps soon with RB Felix Jones (ankle) nursing a high ankle sprain. Tanner has been active for the past three weeks, but only as a special teams player.

RB | Peyton Hillis | Cleveland Browns | Injury, Fantasy
Cleveland Browns RB Peyton Hillis (hamstring) was removed from the Week 6 game against the Oakland Raiders due to a pulled hamstring. He'll have an MRI Monday, Oct. 17. Hillis is hopeful he won't have to miss any games as a result. He ended up with just six carries for 14 yards.

RB | Roy Helu Jr. | Washington Redskins | Injury, Fantasy
Washington Redskins RB Roy Helu Jr. served as the team's third-down back with head coach Mike Shanahan electing to hold RB Tim Hightower (shoulder) out. Helu posted just two carries for six yards.

RB | Cadillac Williams | St. Louis Rams | Injury, Fantasy
St. Louis Rams RB Cadillac Williams (knee) suffered a knee injury in Week 6 and was considered doubtful to return.


Wide Receiver

WR | Brandon Lloyd | St. Louis Rams | Fantasy
The St. Louis Rams' reported acquisition of Denver Broncos WR Brandon Lloyd could signal the end of WR Mike Sims-Walker. Sims-Walker has been plagued by drops and had just 11 receptions for 139 yards before being a healthy scratch in Week 6.

WR | Joshua Cribbs | Cleveland Browns | Fantasy
Cleveland Browns WR Joshua Cribbs has expressed a desire to become strictly a return specialist as he feels he is not getting the ball enough on offense. "I want to say stuff, but I don't want to be a problem. I'll play (more) special teams because I'm not getting the ball," Cribbs said.

Although Denver Broncos WR Eddie Royal has requested a trade, it may be difficult for the team to accommodate him. Royal has not generated much interest in the trade market, most likely because he has yet to play in a game since a groin injury in Week 2.

The San Francisco 49ers did what no other team has been able to do this season by eliminating Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson from the red zone attack. The Lions ran nine plays inside the 7-yard line in Week 6 and never threw to Johnson. Of the five times they got inside the red zone, Johnson was targeted once. It was the first game this season that Johnson did not score a touchdown.

The Minnesota Vikings have allowed four of Chicago Bears WR Devin Hester's 16 career regular-season punt or kickoff return touchdowns.

WR | Jerome Simpson | Cincinnati Bengals | Fantasy
Cincinnati Bengals WR Jerome Simpson posted 101 receiving yards in the Week 6 win against the Indianapolis Colts, but his performance was not pleasing to head coach Marvin Lewis. "He seemed to be inconsistent from my vantage point, because he had some drops," Lewis said. "You can't drop the football."

Chicago Bears TE Kellen Davis (elbow) left the Week 6 game against the Minnesota Vikings in the second half after aggravating an elbow injury.

Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said TE Chris Cooley (hand, finger) "fractured it (his hand) in a number of places" in the Week 6 loss against the Philadelphia Eagles.


Offensive Tackle

Minnesota Vikings OT Phil Loadholt (knee) underwent an MRI on his injured knee but the results came back negative. He is dealing with some tendinitis in the knee.

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid said OT Jason Peters (hamstring) and DE Trent Cole (calf) are making progress in their recoveries and could participate in practice next week.

OT | Trent Williams | Washington Redskins | Injury
Washington Redskins OT Trent Williams (ankle) suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 6. He left the locker room in a walking boot and did not know how long he will be out.

OT | Rodger Saffold | St. Louis Rams | Injury
St. Louis Rams OT Rodger Saffold (ankle) suffered an ankle injury in Week 6 and was considered doubtful to return.


Offensive Line

OL | Kory Lichtensteiger | Washington Redskins | Injury
Updating previous reports, Washington Redskins OG Kory Lichtensteiger (knee) suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament in Week 6 and will miss the rest of the season.


Defensive Line

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid said OT Jason Peters (hamstring) and DE Trent Cole (calf) are making progress in their recoveries and could participate in practice next week.

DL | Julius Peppers | Chicago Bears | Injury
Chicago Bears DL Julius Peppers (knee) finished with two sacks in Week 6 despite playing with a sprained left knee. He said he wasn't sure he would play until right before the game. "My want-to was never in question, just if I was going to," Peppers said. "That was the question. The training staff and coach Smith, they decided they wanted me to play."


Linebacker

LB | Mason Foster | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Injury
Tampa Bay Buccaneers LB Mason Foster (ankle) left the Week 6 game against the New Orleans Saints in the fourth quarter after aggravating his ankle injury. He'll continue to receive treatment on the ankle this week.

LB | DeMarcus Ware | Dallas Cowboys | Injury
Dallas Cowboys LB DeMarcus Ware (back) suffered back spasms in the Week 6 loss against the New England Patriots. He suffered the back spasms after his second sack of the afternoon, but did not miss a play. "I thought it was going to get better," Ware said, "but it got worse." Ware posted his 20th multi-sack game of his career, setting a new franchise record. He was previously tied with former Cowboys DLs Greg Ellis and Jim Jeffcoat for the all-time Cowboys record.

LB | Scott Fujita | Cleveland Browns | Injury
Cleveland Browns LB Scott Fujita (concussion) suffered a concussion in Week 6 against the Oakland Raiders, according to head coach Pat Shurmur.


Cornerback

CB | Sam Shields | Green Bay Packers | Injury
Green Bay Packers CB Sam Shields (concussion) suffered a concussion in the team's Week 6 game and could miss Week 7.


Strong Safety

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said SS Troy Polamalu (head) showed concussion-like symptoms after a play in Week 6.

SS | Sherrod Martin | Carolina Panthers | Injury
Carolina Panthers SS Sherrod Martin (illness) left the game early Week 6 because of an illness.
