Indianapolis Colts QB Peyton Manning (neck) said he will sit down and talk with team owner Jim Irsay soon regarding his future, perhaps as early as this week. Manning received a phone call from Irsay early Monday, Feb. 6, who wanted to congratulate New York Giants QB Eli Manning for his Super Bowl XLVI win. "He called to congratulate Eli and I told him I would pass that along," Manning said. "He said, 'I look forward to sitting down with you soon,' and I told him the same thing. It'll happen. One thing he and I are not going to do is give a set date where it's like a game. We'll handle it the way it should be handled."

Indianapolis Colts QB Peyton Manning (neck) is "good to go" as far as returning for the 2012 season, according to his brother, New York Giants QB Eli Manning. "Everything's good to go," Manning said during an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman. "He got a good report from his doctor, said, 'Hey, you know, if you were my own son, I'd give you the okay to play,' and so he'll be ready. He's healthy, now it's just about getting to 100 percent where he can physically make all the throws."

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford's 2012 salary has increased by $1 million and is now scheduled to make $11.5 million because he fulfilled an escalator clause in his contract. His 2013 salary has will increase $500,000 and is scheduled to make $12 million.


Running Back

Dallas Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray (ankle) said he's ahead of schedule in his rehab from a fractured ankle suffered Dec. 11. "I've been working hard to strengthen my ankle," Murray said. "I'm definitely ahead of schedule. I think I start running on (Feb. 6) actually, so I'm excited to get back there."

RB | Knowshon Moreno | Denver Broncos | Fantasy
Denver Broncos RB Knowshon Moreno was pulled over for speeding and arrested for driving under the influence Feb. 1. Authorities described Moreno as "very respectful and polite."

RB | Jamaal Charles | Kansas City Chiefs | Injury, Fantasy
Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (knee) is expected to take part in offseason workouts after he missed the entire 2011 season with a knee injury. TE Tony Moeaki (knee) will also be available for workouts.

RB | Tim Hightower | Free Agent | Injury, Free Agents
Washington Redskins impending free-agent RB Tim Hightower (knee) said he expects to be ready for the start of the regular season but would not set a timetable for when he will be ready to practice. Hightower could be ready for the start of training camp because he has been rehabbing his torn anterior cruciate ligament for a while.


Wide Receiver

WR | Wes Welker | New England Patriots | Free Agents
A decision on the future of New England Patriots impending free-agent WR Wes Welker will be the biggest offseason issue facing the team. Owner Robert Kraft has publicly stated he wants Welker to remain a Patriot. When it comes to negotiations, the Patriots have the upper hand on Welker because they can use the franchise tag on him. The assumption is they would apply the tag, which would lock Welker up for next year at $9.4 million. However, the team could potentially hold back on the tag and see what Welker commands on the open market. New England may be willing to gamble he'd get less on a long-term deal. Then, they'd use that to work out something at a much friendlier cost than the tag rate.

WR | Victor Cruz | New York Giants | Transaction
New York Giants WR Victor Cruz has reportedly signed with agency giant IMG Worldwide to negotiate marketing and endorsement agreements. "They have a great reputation around the world," Cruz said of IMG, which will also try to negotiate speaking appearances and literary opportunities for the wideout. "They have represented some of the most iconic athletes across a myriad of sports, and I am honored to be among them." IMG is currently sorting through a variety of opportunities. Cruz is attracting interest in many of the major sponsorship categories including beverage, automotive, electronics, video games and telecommunications.

WR | Mario Manningham | Free Agent | Free Agents
New York Giants impending free-agent WR Mario Manningham said he would like to return; however, he is unsure about his future with the team. "I want to come back," Manningham said. "I want to come back, but I don't know what's going to happen. I'm just going to try and enjoy this Super Bowl (win). I'm not really thinking about it right now."

WR | Dontavia Bogan | San Francisco 49ers | Injury
San Francisco 49ers WR Dontavia Bogan (knee) is expected to compete for a roster spot at training camp next season. Bogan missed the entire 2011 season because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament he suffered in training camp.

WR | Joshua Morgan | Free Agent | Injury, Free Agents
San Francisco 49ers impending free-agent WR Joshua Morgan (leg) is expected to be ready to participate once offseason workouts begin.


Tight End

TE | Weslye Saunders | Pittsburgh Steelers | Transaction
Pittsburgh Steelers TE Weslye Saunders has been suspended for the first four games of next season.

TE | Tony Moeaki | Kansas City Chiefs | Injury, Fantasy
Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (knee) is expected to take part in offseason workouts after he missed the entire 2011 season with a knee injury. TE Tony Moeaki (knee) will also be available for workouts.

TE | Travis Beckum | New York Giants | Injury
New York Giants TE Travis Beckum (knee) may start the 2012 season on the Physically Unable to Perform list because of the torn anterior cruciate ligament he suffered in Super Bowl XLVI.

TE | Jake Ballard | New York Giants | Injury
New York Giants TE Jake Ballard (knee) said he is not sure if he will need surgery on his injured knee in Super Bowl XLVI. Ballard tore his meniscus during the game and could not return.


Guard

Houston Texans impending free-agent OG Mike Brisiel (ankle) underwent ankle surgery after the season to clean up a previous ankle injury.


Defensive Line

New England Patriots impending free-agent DL Gerard Warren said he hopes to get the chance to re-sign with the team this offseason. Warren is expected to look for a one-year deal during the offseason.

DL | Dave Tollefson | New York Giants | Injury
New York Giants DE Dave Tollefson (hand, finger) said he believes he broke his hand and dislocated his pinkie during Super Bowl XLVI.

DL | Jarret Johnson | Free Agent | Free Agents
The Indianapolis Colts may consider pursuing Baltimore Ravens impending free-agent LB Jarret Johnson this offseason because he has played for head coach Chuck Pagano.
