NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will hear the appeals of the four players suspended in the New Orleans Saints "bounty" scandal June 18, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. Saints LB Jonathan Vilma, suspended for one year, has also sued the commissioner for defamation. DL Will Smith was suspended four games, former Saints LB Scott Fujita, now with the Cleveland Browns, was suspended three games. Former Saints DL Anthony Hargrove, now with the Green Bay Packers, received an eight-game ban.

Linebacker

Dallas Cowboys LB Bruce Carter has the early lead on LB Dan Connor (hamstring) for the starting inside linebacker job. Connor has missed two weeks of organized team activities with a strained hamstring. Baltimore Ravens LB Terrell Suggs (Achilles') is scheduled to be in Baltimore Monday, June 11, for a doctor's appointment. Suggs is currently in a walking boot and is hoping to begin his rehabilitation process soon. "He's going to work and get that thing back," head coach John Harbaugh said. "Knowing Terrell, he will be back sooner rather than later."

Dallas Cowboys LB DeMarcus Ware (neck) missed an organized team activity last week in order to go through a series of MRIs and CT scans on his neck that all came back negative. "Everything was good," Ware said. "Everything was normal, just like it always is. I feel great actually." Ware said he was fitted with new pads this offseason that he hopes will help eliminate the problem. "It always goes away in the offseason," Ware said. "It comes back some of the time during the season. I think it's just going to be that way. You've just got to find some way to work through it and just do the precautionary stuff."
