Quarterback

QB | Drew Brees | New Orleans Saints | Fantasy
New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees won his franchise tag grievance with the NFL. Next year will count as his third and last franchise tag.

QB | Christian Ponder | Minnesota Vikings | Fantasy
Minnesota Vikings quarterbacks coach Craig Johnson said Monday, July 2, that QB Christian Ponder has progressed significantly since last season. "I think there's no question, he's come light years," Johnson said. "Obviously getting a chance to work out a lot of the kinks, a lot of the problems that you find out as a young player, that's when you get a chance to work on them is usually in the first offseason afterwards." This is Ponder's first chance at offseason workouts, as the lockout wiped out organized team activities (OTAs) and minicamp last year.

QB | G.J. Kinne | Free Agent | Free Agents
Free-agent QB G.J. Kinne (Jets) cleared waivers Monday, July 2, and is now an unrestricted free agent.

QB | Chandler Harnish | Indianapolis Colts | Draft, Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Indianapolis Colts QB Chandler Harnish is behind QBs Andrew Luck and Drew Stanton on the depth chart, but he is excited to get a chance to play for his favorite team growing up. "I've always loved the Colts, and I looked up to guys like Jim Harbaugh and Peyton Manning," Harnish said. "To be a part of the team and to put on the helmet is something very special." Harnish was "Mr. Irrelevant", taking with the 253rd and final pick of the 2012 NFL Draft.

QB | Donovan McNabb | Free Agent | Free Agents
The Baltimore Ravens could consider pursuing free-agent QB Donovan McNabb (Vikings) later this offseason if they are uneasy about their backup quarterback situation.

Running Back

RB | Mikel Leshoure | Detroit Lions | Injury, Fantasy
Detroit Lions RB Mikel Leshoure (Achilles') is expected to be ready for the opening of training camp. Leshoure reportedly cut well and showed burst on the final day of minicamp.

RB | Jason Snelling | Atlanta Falcons | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Atlanta Falcons running backs coach Gerald Brown indicated Monday, July 2, that the team is trying to work RBs Jason Snelling, Jacquizz Rodgers, Antone Smith, Dimitri Nance and Robbie Frey into the mix during training camp and the preseason. The team feels particularly good about Snelling and Rodgers, who are expected to spell RB Michael Turner more this season.

RB | Donald Brown | Indianapolis Colts | Fantasy
Indianapolis Colts RB Donald Brown might need to establish himself this season and take advantage of his opportunities, or the team might elect to part ways with him before next season. This season is likely his last chance to show he can be a bona fide No. 1 back.

RB | Adam Harris | NFL Draft Prospect | Draft
Boise State DB Quaylon Ewing, Syracuse RB Adam Harris, Iowa State OT Adrian Haughton, Carson-Newman LB Larry Lumpkin, Georgia DE Montez Robinson and McMurray WR Houston Tuminello are eligible to be selected in the 2012 NFL supplemental draft.

RB | Matt Forte | Chicago Bears | Injury, Free Agents, Fantasy
Chicago Bears franchise free-agent RB Matt Forte said he is the healthiest he has been in a while because sitting out the last four games of the season allowed him to heal injuries other than his knee injury. "I've been lifting a little harder this offseason and running more," Forte said. "Just because I was able to heal a lot earlier having to sit out the last four games and having that time, and I was able to heal from the other injuries."

Fullback

FB | Mike Cox | Atlanta Falcons | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Atlanta Falcons running backs coach Gerald Brown said Monday, July 2, that the team is pleased with the competition at the fullback position between FB Mike Cox and FB Bradie Ewing. "Last year, being in the system helped (Cox) a lot. Ewing has done some really good things since he's been here. We are happy about the competition that we have at the position right now," Brown said.

Wide Receiver

WR | Ryan Broyles | Detroit Lions | Injury, Fantasy
There has been no update on the status for Detroit Lions WR Ryan Broyles (knee) since minicamp, and he might start training camp on the Physically-Unable-to-Perform (PUP) list.

WR | Josh Gordon | NFL Draft Prospect | Draft
The Dallas Cowboys could consider taking Baylor WR Josh Gordon in the 2012 NFL supplemental draft.

WR | Dwayne Bowe | Kansas City Chiefs | Free Agents, Fantasy
Kansas City Chiefs franchise free-agent WR Dwayne Bowe has not given any indication that he will hold out during the season even though he has not signed his franchise tender at this point and did not participate in any offseason workouts.

WR | Donald Driver | Green Bay Packers | Fantasy
Green Bay Packers WRs James Jones, Randall Cobb and Donald Driver are candidates to become the No. 3 wide receiver during training camp.

Place Kicker

PK | Matt Prater | Denver Broncos | Transaction, Free Agents
The Denver Broncos have agreed to terms with franchise free-agent PK Matt Prater on a four-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Offensive Tackle

OT | Marcel Jones | NFL Draft Prospect | Transaction
The New Orleans Saints have agreed to terms with fifth-round draft choice CB Corey White and seventh-round draft choice OT Marcel Jones on four-year contracts. Financial terms were not disclosed.

OT | Trevis Turner | Free Agent | Transaction, Free Agents
Free-agent OT Trevis Turner (Steelers) has been suspended for the first four games of the season. The reason for the suspension is not known at this point.

OT | Gabe Carimi | Chicago Bears | Injury
Chicago Bears OT Gabe Carimi (knee) did not do a lot during offseason workouts but is confident that his knee is strong enough to participate in training camp.

Guard

OG | Stephen Peterman | Detroit Lions | Depth Chart Tidbit
Detroit Lions OG Stephen Peterman looks to have a leg up in the battle for the starting right guard job, although it will definitely be determined during training camp and the preseason games. It is possible, however, that if OT Riley Reiff does not take over at left tackle for OT Jeff Backus or right tackle for Gosder Cherilus, he could challenge Peterman at RG.

Cornerback

CB | Eric Wright | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Transaction
Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers CB Eric Wright is scheduled to appear in court July 23 in Los Angeles County for felony driving under the influence. Wright was driving his Mercedes SLS luxury sports coupe when he rear ended another drive around 12:20 a.m. Monday, July 2, in downtown Los Angeles near Staples Center. Wright refused a field sobriety test, and he was released on $100,000 bail at 1:34 p.m.

Strong Safety

SS | Madieu Williams | Washington Redskins | Depth Chart Tidbit
The Washington Redskins like their depth at the safety position. CB Jordan Bernstine, FS Reed Doughty and SS DeJon Gomes provide the depth, and could emerge as sleeper candidates, behind veterans FS Tanard Jackson, FS Brandon Meriweather and SS Madieu Williams.

SS | Jaiquawn Jarrett | Philadelphia Eagles | Depth Chart Tidbit
The battle for the starting strong safety job between SS Kurt Coleman and SS Jaiquawn Jarrett got more interesting when the team signed free-agent SS Oshiomogho Atogwe. Coleman and Jarrett are still considered the favorites for the job opposite FS Nate Allen, with Atogwe serving in a backup role and as a veteran mentor.
