QB | Peyton Manning | Denver Broncos | Fantasy
Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning is calling hospital victims of the Colorado theater shooting to lift their spirits. A spokeswoman for the Medical Center of Aurora said Sunday, July 22, that Manning spoke one-on-one by phone Saturday, July 21, with several patients brought there after the movie shooting.

Running Back

RB | Felix Jones | Dallas Cowboys | Injury, Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys RB Felix Jones (shoulder) has been medically cleared to practice before the start of training camp, according to a source.

RB | Adrian Peterson | Minnesota Vikings | Injury, Fantasy
Minnesota Vikings RB Toby Gerhart said he thinks RB Adrian Peterson (knee) will be ready to play in Week 1. "I think (Adrian Peterson) will (play in the opener)," Gerhart said. "You can never be surprised with Adrian. The way he comes to work every day, the way he pushes himself - he was flying around, straight-line speed, moving out there, racing Percy up the hill, doing conditioning stuff ... I haven't seen him in a couple weeks now, but I'm sure he's continued to make leaps and bounds in progress, and I wouldn't be surprised if he's ready. You can never count Adrian out."

RB | Brandon Jackson | Cleveland Browns | Injury, Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
The only real competition at the running back position for the Cleveland Browns is to determine who will become the primary backup to RB Trent Richardson. The team likely will favor whoever proves to be the best receiving threat and pass protector, especially on third down. Contributions on special teams might be a deciding factor, too. Head coach Pat Shurmur said RBs Montario Hardesty and Brandon Jackson would both play this year, but it is uncertain who will have a more prominent role. RB Chris Ogbonnaya is also in the mix, and his ability on special teams will help his cause should one of the others falter or suffer injury.

Wide Receiver

WR | Jeremy Ebert | New England Patriots | Injury
New England Patriots WR Jeremy Ebert's (leg) leg injury is not considered serious but his chance for a spot on the roster would be affected greatly if he misses time during training camp. The team could keep him on the Physically Unable to Perform list to start the season and give him a chance to make the roster during the season.

Place Kicker

PK | Josh Brown | New York Jets | Fantasy
The New York Jets' kicking competition between PKs Josh Brown and Nick Folk is expected to last until the third preseason game.

Offensive Tackle

OT | Riley Reiff | Detroit Lions | Transaction

OT | Jason Peters | Philadelphia Eagles | Injury, Transaction
Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid confirmed that OT Jason Peters (Achilles') will open training camp on the non-football injury (NFI) list.

OT | Ryan Clady | Denver Broncos | Transaction, Free Agents
The Denver Broncos have offered OT Ryan Clady a five-year, $50 million contract extension, with $28 million guaranteed, according to an NFL source. However, the source said Clady and his agent are seeking a deal that would slightly exceed the contract of Cleveland Browns OT Joe Thomas, who received an extension last summer which averages $11.5 million per season. If Clady doesn't sign the extension, he would be eligible to become a free agent at season's end.

OT | Sebastian Vollmer | New England Patriots | Injury
New England Patriots OT Sebastian Vollmer (back, ankle) is expected to participate when training camp begins even though he has dealt with back and ankle issues this offseason.

Defensive Line

DL | Mike Patterson | Philadelphia Eagles | Injury
The head trainer for the Philadelphia Eagles confirmed Sunday, July 22, that DL Mike Patterson (brain) will not participate in training camp.

DL | Vinny Curry | Philadelphia Eagles | Injury
Philadelphia Eagles DL Vinny Curry (ankle) is fine, and he is expected to be at training camp on time, according to head coach Andy Reid.

Linebacker

LB | Joe Mays | Denver Broncos | Injury
Six Denver Broncos visited with survivors of the Colorado theater shooting Sunday, July 22, to try to lift their spirits. The group visited with five patients at the Medical Center of Aurora and also met with the emergency room staff that provided the initial treatment Friday, July 20, for many of the shooting victims of the massacre at a suburban Denver movie theater that left 12 dead, 58 injured and a nation in sorrow. "What we were trying to do was go in there, show support and try to put a smile on these peoples' faces. But the thing is, they put a smile on our faces," LB Joe Mays said.

LB | Lofa Tatupu | Atlanta Falcons | Injury, Depth Chart Tidbit
The chances for LB Akeem Dent to start in Week 1 as the middle linebacker increased dramatically when LB Lofa Tatupu (pectoral) suffered an injury lifting weights. Tatupu will meet with a specialist, and it's uncertain how much time he'll miss just yet. However, he is likely to miss the start of training camp at the least.

LB | Mychal Kendricks | Philadelphia Eagles | Depth Chart Tidbit
Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid said Sunday, July 22, that LB Mychal Kendricks will open training camp as the team's starting strong-side linebacker.

LB | Shawne Merriman | Buffalo Bills | Injury, Fantasy
Buffalo Bills LB Shawne Merriman (Achilles') is attempting to re-capture his status as a premier player in the NFL this season. He spent a good deal of time at the right end position in the team's nickel package during spring practices.

LB | E.J. Henderson | Free Agent | Free Agents
Free-agent LB E.J. Henderson (Vikings) is receiving interest from teams because it is believed he has dropped his asking price.

Cornerback

CB | Mike Jenkins | Dallas Cowboys | Injury
Dallas Cowboys CB Mike Jenkins (shoulder) will report with rookies and injured players to start training camp Wednesday, July 25, according to a source. Jenkins missed voluntary workouts because he was upset by a lack of progress regarding a new contract; however, he did report for mandatory workouts. Jenkins hasn't yet been medically cleared to practice as he's still recovering from offseason shoulder surgery.

CB | Aaron Berry | Free Agent | Transaction
The Detroit Lions have released CB Aaron Berry.

CB | Cary Williams | Baltimore Ravens | Injury

"I plan on just going right out there with the guys," Williams said. "I don't expect to take any days off unless they tell me that's what I need to do. As far as I'm concerned, I'm full go."

CB | Kee-ayre Griffin | Philadelphia Eagles | Transaction, Free Agents
The Philadelphia Eagles have signed undrafted free-agent CB Kee-ayre Griffin (Temple). Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

CB | D.J. Johnson | Indianapolis Colts | Transaction
The Indianapolis Colts have acquired CB D.J. Johnson from the Philadelphia Eagles for DT Ollie Ogbu.

Strong Safety

SS | Tyler Sash | New York Giants | Injury, Depth Chart Tidbit
New York Giants SS Tyler Sash (hamstring) was considered the favorite for the No. 3 safety job during minicamp, but a hamstring injury throughout camp hampered him. That opened the door for FS Stevie Brown and FS Will Hill, and both impressed safeties coach Dave Merritt. However, Sash has the most experience, and is still believed to be the favorite.

SS | Deon Grant | Free Agent | Transaction, Free Agents
Free-agent FS Deon Grant (Giants) has not retired, and he feels he will be re-signed by the New York Giants sometime during training camp. "This is the first time in three or four years - and this was the longest one - that I can say I came out completely healthy," Grant said. "I revamped everything and my body feels wonderful right now."
