Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire: Andy McDonald, Carl Hagelin and more

With another week in the books, it is time to once again take a look at the fantasy hockey waiver wire. With the injury list getting longer as the season moves on, it is more important than ever to keep an eye on your waiver wire as your team is likely to deal with injuries at some point in the fantasy hockey season. Who are the players you need to know about that will help win you the fantasy hockey week and ultimately a fantasy hockey championship?

Troy Brouwer, right wing, Washington Capitals

Brouwer had a terrific week for the Capitals, collecting four goals, with two of them coming on the power play. It also appears that the Capitals as a team are turning their season around a bit, which should help all of their forwards moving forward. Brouwer is owned in just 11 percent of all fantasy leagues polled and could be a solid addition to your roster if you are looking to add some scoring depth, as long as he and the team continue to stay hot.

Carl Hagelin, left wing, New York Rangers

The Rangers left winger had a breakout week, collecting six points in three games. Hagelin also contributed on the power play, collecting a point on the man advantage. If you are looking for help for your team in the plus-minus category, Hagelin had a strong week there, as well, going plus three on the week. Hagelin is owned on only 14 percent of all fantasy leagues polled and could be a terrific addition for your roster, as he is balanced enough to help in multiple stat categories.

Andy McDonald, St. Louis Blues

Andy McDonald, center/left wing, St. Louis Blues

McDonald has racked up four points in his last three games, all assists. The thing that makes McDonald a nice candidate to add to your roster though, is the idea that three of those points came with the man advantage. When a player is contributing at that pace on the power play, it makes them more valuable to fantasy rosters. Another thing McDonald has going for him is that he qualifies for multiple positions, as he can play center and left wing. McDonald is owned in 41 percent of all leagues polled and is worth a look in deeper leagues.

Joe Corvo, defenseman, Carolina Hurricanes

Corvo has become a sneaky fantasy play on a much improved Carolina team. This week, he was solid all the fantasy scoreboard with a two goals and three assists. Corvo was also terrific in the plus-minus category with a plus-six and contributed two points with the man advantage. Points from defenseman can be a premium in fantasy hockey, and if Corvo can continue to contribute at his current pace, he is worth adding to your roster. Corvo is owned in just 8 percent of all leagues polled.

That will do it for this week's edition of the Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire. Make sure you check back for the Fantasy Hockey Planner and look for Fantasy Hockey Trends earlier next week as we help you win your fantasy hockey week and leagues.
