QB | Josh X. Johnson | Cincinnati Bengals | Depth Chart Tidbit
Cincinnati Bengals QB Josh X. Johnson has a slight advantage over QBs John Skelton and Zac Robinson in the backup quarterback battle because of his previous experience in the West Coast offense.

QB | Mark Sanchez | New York Jets | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan is not in any hurry to name a starting quarterback. While he fawned over the ability of QB Geno Smith Wednesday, June 5, he was less effusive about QB Mark Sanchez. However, he did say the struggles by Sanchez last year were beyond him. "I think when you come back you have to erase the computer," Ryan said. "You start all over again and I think Mark's done that and I think a bunch of us have done that."

QB | Christian Ponder | Minnesota Vikings | Fantasy
Former NFL QB Jeff George is in camp with the Minnesota Vikings as a guest instructor and mentor to QB Christian Ponder. "We told our players just to be able to pick his brain, our quarterbacks, and talk with him about some of the things he saw as a young quarterback and what he saw as a veteran and just his maturation over the course of his career," head coach Leslie Frazier said. "He was a very good player for a long time, high draft pick, and I think he can really help our players with some of his background and his knowledge as well."

QB | JaMarcus Russell | Free Agent | Free Agents
Former NFL QB Jeff Garcia said he believes free-agent QB JaMarcus Russell (Raiders) is physically and mentally prepared to play in the NFL again. Garcia has been working with Russell and that Russell still has the physical tools to play but needed to improve on the mental aspect of his game. "Mentally, was the state where we needed to get him back to thinking football, speaking football, knowing football, being a student of the game. I don't know if that's ever been part of his background, to be a student of the game. That's where he needs to get to. He needs to sleep, eat, drink football. It can't be anything else if he wants this bad enough," Garcia said.

QB | Ben Roethlisberger | Pittsburgh Steelers | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) could have played with the injured meniscus in his right knee, but doctors recommended he underwent the surgery.

QB | Tony Romo | Dallas Cowboys | Injury, Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones said QB Tony Romo (back) likely will not take part in the team's upcoming minicamp because the team wants to be cautious with Romo. Jones said Romo's rehab is going well and that Romo has been doing conditioning drills to stay in shape.

QB | Michael Vick | Philadelphia Eagles | Fantasy
Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick said that head coach Chip Kelly taught him how to hold a football. Kelly clarified by saying, "I didn't teach Mike to carry the football. He was just swinging it loose one day, and I told him to keep it tight. ... It was just kind of reiterating fundamentals, and it's like that with everybody."

QB | Nick Foles | Philadelphia Eagles | Fantasy
Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly has asked for a moratorium on depth chart questions, especially at quarterback, because nothing is finalized. Michael Vick and Nick Foles have each taken first-team snaps at OTAs for a substantial period. Foles said his consistency and comfort in Kelly's system has improved since last week. Vick talked about how "innovative" Kelly's offense is.

Running Back

The fifth-round pick from Florida State is expected to contend for a spot behind RB Alfred Morris, and the training staff feels he will be ready to participate fully when the team opens training camp July 25.

RB | Steven Jackson | Atlanta Falcons | Fantasy
Atlanta Falcons RB Steven Jackson is enjoying the experience of learning new teammates, coaches and a playbook, and he is still growing accustomed to his new surroundings. "It's been a great time. As of right now, you can only imagine learning a new playbook," Jackson said Wednesday, June 5. "I'm trying to dump what I've learned over the years and learn the way that they do things around here, but it's a lot of fun, a lot of excitement and quite a bit of competition, so that's only going to make everyone better."

RB | Joseph Randle | Dallas Cowboys | Injury, Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle (thumb) said Wednesday, June 5, that he expects to have his cast removed in two weeks and should be a full participant in training camp in July. "I'm ready to get it off," Randle said.

RB | Trent Richardson | Cleveland Browns | Injury, Fantasy

"I would love to get 2,000 yards again, but I haven't been to the playoffs since my rookie year. I want to get back there."

Wide Receiver

WR | Reggie Wayne | Indianapolis Colts | Fantasy
Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne reported to organized team activities Wednesday, June 5, to learn the team's new offensive with a brand new offensive coordinator, Pep Hamilton. "It has been a challenge, but I'm getting it done. It's a little new to me still, but it's cool," Wayne said. Wayne plans to attend the team's mandatory minicamp next week and then head back to Miami where he'll work out until training camp in July.

WR | Roddy White | Atlanta Falcons | Fantasy
Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White was not at organized team activities (OTAs) Wednesday, May 29, but he was back Wednesday, June 5, working with his teammates at the voluntary practice session. "It's great to have Roddy here," head coach Mike Smith said. "I think we all know what Roddy means to this football team. He's a play maker. He's the mentor for a lot of these young guys so it's good to have Roddy here."

WR | Jeremy Kerley | New York Jets | Injury, Fantasy

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said there is a chance that WR Santonio Holmes (foot) could start training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

WR | Stephen Hill | New York Jets | Injury, Fantasy
New York Jets WR Stephen Hill (knee) said he has been limited during organized team activities because of swelling and fluid in his knee. He said he could play if it were the regular season. Head coach Rex Ryan said he expects Hill to participate next week.

WR | Julian Edelman | New England Patriots | Fantasy
New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman is widely considered to be on the roster bubble, but his familiarity with QB Tom Brady should work in his favor in an offseason of heavy turnover at the receiver position. Edelman should make the cut if healthy.

Tight End

TE | Jimmy Graham | New Orleans Saints | Injury, Fantasy
New Orleans Saints TE Jimmy Graham (wrist, ankle) said he's hungry to improve after catching 85 passes for 982 yards and nine touchdowns a season ago. "This is probably the hungriest I've ever been to kind of right the wrongs of last year and to prove what this team can do and maybe hush up some of the naysayers," Graham said. "So for me it's all work and doing as much as I can to be the best player I can." Graham was bothered by a left wrist injury and an ankle sprain for much of last year. He isn't fully recovered from offseason wrist surgery, but he's been making catches during minicamp practices this week. Graham said he's almost back to 100 percent health. He's also more confident from working with QB Drew Brees all offseason and having head coach Sean Payton back in the fold.

TE | Jordan Cameron | Cleveland Browns | Injury, Fantasy
Cleveland Browns TE Jordan Cameron (hamstring) is sitting out Thursday, June 6, due to a hamstring injury.

TE | Michael Williams | Detroit Lions | Depth Chart Tidbit
Detroit Lions assistant director of pro personnel Charlie Sanders said TE Michael Williams could eventually be moved to offensive tackle.

TE | Jacob Tamme | Denver Broncos | Fantasy
Denver Broncos TE Jacob Tamme doesn't figure to have as many passes thrown his way as last year, chiefly because of WR Wes Welker's arrival.

TE | Rob Gronkowski | New England Patriots | Fantasy
The New England Patriots' contract with TE Rob Gronkowski (forearm, back) effectively protects them should his injuries limit or halt his career in the future. After the 2015 season, New England must decide whether to pick up a $10 million option that would activate the final four years of his deal, which would then end in 2019.

TE | Jermichael Finley | Green Bay Packers | Fantasy
Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley is estimated to be much closer to his listed weight of 247 pounds after regaining some bulk this offseason. Finley had dropped to around 235 pounds sometime during or after 2010, when he was aiming to play lighter to be used more as a wide recivier. But Finley's assessment of his earlier seasons saw that he was playing well while also retaining strength in mass, so he decided to go back to that physique. "He's back to where I like to see him, the playing weight that he's playing with," head coach Mike McCarthy said. "He's stronger. He's playing with more confidence. ... I really like the offseason that Jermichael has put together so far."

Offensive Tackle

OT | Breno Giacomini | Seattle Seahawks | Injury
Seattle Seahawks OT Breno Giacomini (knee) will not need knee surgery after having tests done on his knee in New York. Head coach Pete Carroll said Giacomini could have practiced this week.

OT | D.J. Fluker | San Diego Chargers | Transaction
The San Diego Chargers have agreed to terms with first-round draft choice OT D.J. Fluker on a four-year deal worth $11.4 million. The deal includes a $6.6 million signing bonus.

Defensive Line

DL | Dwight Freeney | San Diego Chargers | Fantasy
San Diego Chargers DE Dwight Freeney said he's comfortable in the team's new defense under coordinator Chuck Pagano. Freeney didn't seem comfortable with the Indianapolis Colts in a 3-4 defensive scheme last year, but the Chargers also run a 3-4. "I think the biggest thing was that, he was going to allow me to do a little bit of what I do," said Freeney, who will be used as an edge rusher on the right side. "It wasn't, 'Dwight, here, we're going to take you and put you in this thing and do things that you're not used to doing.' He said, 'You know what, we're going to put you in place to make plays, in familiar places, so that you're comfortable and you can just ball out.'"

DL | Jared Allen | Minnesota Vikings | Injury, Fantasy
Minnesota Vikings DE Jared Allen (shoulder, knee) said he's on the same page with the team when it comes to the fact that he doesn't have a contract guarantee in his final season with the club. "I was in an organization previously that didn't respect where I was at in my contract," Allen said. "They promised me a lot of stuff and didn't deliver. And here, I don't have that problem." Allen is set to make more than $14 million in his final year under contract with Minnesota. He said he's unsure if he'll want to negotiate a new contract during the year, but he's just happy the team is willing to let him play out his last year.

Allen is attending the team's minicamp but is only observing after having surgeries on his left shoulder and right knee four months ago. Head coach Leslie Frazier said Allen probably won't practice until training camp. Allen said his shoulder is about 97 percent healthy right now.

DL | Bennie Logan | Philadelphia Eagles | Transaction
The Philadelphia Eagles signed third-round pick DT Bennie Logan to a four-year deal.

DL | Chris Clemons | Seattle Seahawks | Injury
Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said DE Chris Clemons (knee) is well ahead of schedule in his rehab from a torn anterior cruciate ligament and that Clemons could be ready for the start of the regular season. Carroll said the team will not rush Clemons back on the field.

DL | Braylon Broughton | Free Agent | Transaction, Free Agents
The Detroit Lions have re-signed free-agent DE Braylon Broughton. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. The team also released WR Lance Long and DE Robert Maci.

DL | Da'Quan Bowers | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Fantasy
Tampa Bay Buccaneers DE Da'Quan Bowers has only recorded 4.5 sacks since he debuted in 2011. Head coach Greg Schiano said that he's banking on Bowers becoming an every-down option instead of a situational pass rusher. Bowers thinks that the way Schiano has drawn up the ways to use DT Gerald McCoy could draw significant attention, freeing up Bowers for more and better attempts at bringing down the opposing quarterback. The arrival of CB Darrelle Revis and FS Dashon Goldson should aid their coverage, which would translate to more time for Bowers to get into the backfield.

LB | Barkevious Mingo | Cleveland Browns | Depth Chart Tidbit
Cleveland Browns LB Barkevious Mingo said his goal is to win one of the starting outside linebacker jobs this season but knows it will be hard for him to outperform LB Paul Kruger or LB Jabaal Sheard. "I'm very determined," Mingo said. "That's the goal. That should be everybody's goal. You want to play, you want to help the team win, but you've got to put in the work."

LB | Daryl Smith | Baltimore Ravens | Transaction, Free Agents
The Baltimore Ravens have agreed to terms with free-agent LB Daryl Smith (Jaguars). Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

LB | Caleb McSurdy | Dallas Cowboys | Injury
Dallas Cowboys LB Caleb McSurdy (Achilles') has received some snaps at fullback on short-yardage and goal line situations during organized team activities Tuesday, June 4. He said he is almost fully recovered from the torn Achilles' tendon he suffered before last season.

LB | Jason Worilds | Pittsburgh Steelers | Fantasy
Pittsburgh Steelers LB Larry Foote thinks OLB Jason Worilds, not rookie Jarvis Jones, will start in place of James Harrison, who left via free agency. "It's going to be difficult [for Jones to start immediately]," Foote said. "There is so much technique, [knowing] where to line up, inside or outside." Foote said, however, that at least Jones played in a 3-4 as a Georgia Bulldog.

CB | Prince Miller | Free Agent | Transaction
The Cleveland Browns waived CB Prince Miller.

CB | LeQuan Lewis | Free Agent | Free Agents
The Kansas City Chiefs are trying out free-agent CB LeQuan Lewis (Bears) at mini-camp.

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed free-agent CB Nigel Malone (Colts) to an undisclosed deal. CB Justin King (hamstring) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list.

CB | Richard Crawford | Washington Redskins | Depth Chart Tidbit
Washington Redskins CB Richard Crawford has been learning about playing cornerback in the NFL from Hall of Famer and former Redskins CB Darrell Green during the offseason. The biggest lesson Crawford learned from Green is the need for versatility in coverages and techniques. "Just mix up your game," Crawford said. "Don't always do the same thing when you come out."

CB | Jacob Lacey | Minnesota Vikings | Injury
Minnesota Vikings CB Jacob Lacey (thumb) underwent surgery Wednesday, June 5, to repair a dislocated thumb. Lacey suffered the injury during organized team activities Tuesday, June 4.

CB | Darrelle Revis | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Injury
Tampa Bay Buccaneers CB Darrelle Revis (knee) said he has made progress in his rehab from a torn anterior cruciate ligament but will not say if he thinks his knee is close to 100 percent. "I cannot really put a number on it," Revis said. "I can tell it is getting stronger. ... I am out here running and cutting. Even in the weight room we are getting stronger. There is really no percentage on it right now, but I can tell I feel better than I did a couple weeks ago." Revis said he still hopes to be ready for the start of the regular season and expects to play at the same level he did before the injury.

Free Safety

FS | Ed Reed | Houston Texans | Injury
Houston Texans FS Ed Reed (hip) said he plans on being ready for the start of regular season but will not rush back if he is not ready. "I plan on being back for Week 1," Reed said. "But as you've known me for the longest time, I'm going to be smart about my injuries and make sure I'm there for the later part of the season when the team really needs me."

FS | Eric Frampton | Dallas Cowboys | Injury, Transaction, Free Agents
The Dallas Cowboys have re-signed free-agent FS Eric Frampton. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. In a corresponding move, the team waived injured DT Robert Callaway (knee). Callaway will miss the entire 2013 season because he needs microfracture surgery.

Offensive Coordinator

OC | Pete Carmichael | New Orleans Saints | Fantasy
New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton said he's unsure who will be calling the offensive plays for the team this year. Offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael called the plays last year with Payton serving his year-long suspension. The offense under Carmichael put up 28.8 points per game, which was third highest in the league.
