QB | Tom Brady | New England Patriots | Injury, Fantasy
New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (knee) is wearing a brace on his left knee in practice at the request of team owner Robert Kraft.

QB | Robert Griffin III | Washington Redskins | Injury, Fantasy
Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III (knee) participated in drills before the preseason game Monday, Aug. 19, against the Pittsburgh Steelers under the watchful eye of Dr. James Andrews. Griffin was then examined, and there was a discussion with the quarterback and the team on the plan for the next steps in Griffin's rehab. Andrews has not yet cleared Griffin for Week 1. He is scheduled to be re-examined Aug. 29.

The quarterback situation for the regular season opener is very shaky right now in D.C., as Griffin is no slam dunk to start in Week 1, and now Kirk Cousins (foot) is dealing with an injury, too. If you plan to draft, or already have drafted Griffin, be sure to have plenty of depth at the quarterback position just in case he misses regular season time.

QB | Kirk Cousins | Washington Redskins | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins (foot) is scheduled to have an MRI Tuesday, Aug. 20, on his injured right foot. Head coach Mike Shanahan said Monday, Aug. 19, that the team is hopeful that the injury to Cousins is not serious. "(The medical staff) feel like it's mild right now," Shanahan said. "So that's a good sign."

QB | Mark Sanchez | New York Jets | Fantasy
New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez likes the team's new offensive system, and is comfortable working with offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg. "I love the way you can mix up personnel, formations, use some base concepts and run them a million different ways with motions and shifts," Sanchez said. "I love that he gives us a lot of freedom at the line to go over protection and redirect it with [Nick] Mangold. I think the system, in general, just lends itself to quarterbacks trying to get the ball out quick, taking our shots down field and getting wide outs and skill position players in the right places to distort a defense. Then you go make the read, make the throw and make them work for it."

QB | Geno Smith | New York Jets | Injury, Fantasy
New York Jets QB Geno Smith (ankle) struggled in practice Monday, Aug. 19. Smith's ankle issue did not appear to be bothering him in practice. Smith went 1-for-6 with a sack and an interception.

As this competition has gone on, it appears more likely that Mark Sanchez will win the job. Neither quarterback will have much fantasy value outside of a bye week fill in.

QB | Josh Freeman | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Fantasy
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Josh Freeman will play substantially in the next preseason game, according to head coach Greg Schiano.

QB | Blaine Gabbert | Jacksonville Jaguars | Injury, Fantasy
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blaine Gabbert (thumb) has been named the starting quarterback. He's out for the remainder of the preseason with a hairline fracture in his thumb, however.

Chad Henne will take the snaps Gabbert misses in the preseason. Gabbert doesn't hold a lot of fantasy value after a poor showing last year and the number of questions around him. Justin Blackmon is suspended to begin the year, and Maurice Jones-Drew (foot) is coming off a serious foot injury and is another year older. With the number of QB2's available, we'd avoid Gabbert unless he surges and has a good matchup.

Running Back

RB | Le'Veon Bell | Pittsburgh Steelers | Injury, Fantasy
Updating previous reports, Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (foot) will have an MRI Tuesday, Aug. 20, with a mid-foot sprain.

Let's hope he avoided a Lisfranc injury. If so, he could be ready for the opener.

RB | James Starks | Green Bay Packers | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Green Bay Packers RB James Starks fumbled in the preseason game against the St. Louis Rams over the weekend, and he was last in the rotation of running backs behind RBs DuJuan Harris, Eddie Lacy, Johnathan Franklin and Alex Green.

RB | Daryl Richardson | St. Louis Rams | Fantasy
St. Louis Rams RB Daryl Richardson was named the starting running back by head coach Jeff Fisher.

With Richardson officially winning the starting job, he is an intriguing RB2 option, that should provide good value in fantasy drafts.

RB | Arian Foster | Houston Texans | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (back) is dealing with minor disc irritation in his back. Foster is still hopeful he will be ready for Week 1.

Not ideal news for Foster, and one has to wonder if this issue will linger as the year goes on. Be prepared to get Ben Tate on your roster should you target Foster.

RB | Mike Goodson | New York Jets | Fantasy
New York Jets general manager Mike Idzik said that he expects RP Mike Goodson to show up during the preseason.

Goodson has missed way too much of the preseason and training camp to be expected to contribute regularly at the start of the regular season. That could change eventually, but as of now, Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell are the main guys out of the backfield. Injuries and poor performance could push Goodson up the depth chart eventually, but for now, ignore him in fantasy drafts.

RB | Doug Martin | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Injury, Fantasy
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (head) practiced, without contact, Monday, Aug. 19.

RB | Jamaal Charles | Kansas City Chiefs | Injury, Fantasy
Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (foot) said he isn't sure if he'll play in this week's preseason game. "Playing in the NFL you get weird injuries," Charles said. "This is one of the weird injuries I've had. It started in my foot and it traveled all the way to the top of my foot and now it's stuck in the middle of my right leg."

Wide Receiver

WR | Randall Cobb | Green Bay Packers | Injury, Fantasy
Green Bay Packers WRs Randall Cobb (biceps) and Jordy Nelson (knee) each missed practice Monday, Aug. 19.

WR | Danario Alexander | San Diego Chargers | Injury, Transaction, Fantasy
San Diego Chargers WR Danario Alexander (knee) has cleared waivers and has been placed on Injured Reserve.

WR | Kenny Stills | New Orleans Saints | Transaction, Free Agents, Fantasy
The New Orleans Saints released WRs Patrick Crayton and Steve Breaston Monday, Aug. 19.

Kenny Stills appears to have separated himself as the No. 3 wide receiver based on his play this preseason, and this move supports that idea. Stills isn't a bad late-round selection to shore up your WR depth.

WR | Victor Cruz | New York Giants | Injury, Fantasy
The New York Giants plan to hold out WR Victor Cruz (heel) until the start of the regular season. The team believes his heel injury will heal with rest and treatment.

It appears the team is just being cautious with Cruz to make sure he is ready for Week 1. He should still be seen as a low-end No. 1 or strong No. 2 fantasy wide receiver this season.

WR | Eddie Royal | San Diego Chargers | Injury, Fantasy
San Diego Chargers head coach Mike McCoy said WR Eddie Royal (lung, concussion) was at the team's facility Monday, Aug. 19, and is doing well. McCoy did not mention any timetable for Royal's return.

WR | Danny Amendola | New England Patriots | Fantasy
New England Patriots WR Danny Amendola is not attending practice Monday, Aug. 19. The reason for the absence is uncertain at this point.

WR | Stevie Johnson | Buffalo Bills | Injury, Fantasy
Buffalo Bills WR Stevie Johnson (hamstring) said he can still feel his hamstring injury while running routes but still expects to play in the team's third preseason game. Johnson participated in practice Monday, Aug. 19, and appeared to have chemistry with QB Kevin Kolb.

WR | Jonathan Baldwin | San Francisco 49ers | Transaction, Fantasy
The San Francisco 49ers acquired WR Jonathan Baldwin from the Kansas City Chiefs Monday, Aug. 19, in exchange for WR A.J. Jenkins.

Baldwin has plenty of physical talent at the wideout position, but he just never put it all together with KC. He'll have a new opportunity with San Francisco, and they are desperately looking for someone to step up to help out Anquan Boldin as the main receiver with Michael Crabtree (Achilles') possibly lost for the entire season. Baldwin remains intriguing as late-round wide receiver depth.

Tight End

TE | Ed Dickson | Baltimore Ravens | Injury, Fantasy
Baltimore Ravens TE Ed Dickson (hamstring) was limited during practice Monday, Aug. 19. It was the first time back on a field since he suffered his hamstring injury.

TE | Zach Sudfield | New England Patriots | Fantasy
New England Patriots TE Zach Sudfield could have a big role on offense this season because his size has allowed him to become a tremendous red zone target during practice and preseason games. Sudfeld could also be used in one-tight end sets because his blocking ability has improved since training camp started.

TE | Aaron Hernandez | Free Agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
The New England Patriots do not plan on paying free-agent TE Aaron Hernandez an $82,000 offseason workout bonus due Aug. 1 for the work that he did this spring before being charged with murder. The Patriots also will not pay the $3.25 million bonus due to Hernandez next March, according to league sources. Hernandez's agents are then expected to file a grievance against the team to attempt to recover the money.

TE | Coby Fleener | Indianapolis Colts | Injury, Fantasy
An MRI on Indianapolis Colts TE Coby Fleener's (knee) injured knee did not show any significant damage. Fleener could return to practice later this week if he does not have any setbacks.

TE | Dwayne Allen | Indianapolis Colts | Injury, Fantasy
Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano said TE Dwayne Allen (foot) is expected to take part in some monitored reps during practice this week.

TE | Rob Gronkowski | New England Patriots | Injury, Fantasy
It is not realistic to believe that New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (back, forearm) will be ready to play Week 1.

If Gronkowski is not ready for the start of the regular season, there is a chance he could start the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list. Gronkowski should still be considered a risky No. 1 fantasy tight end, but owners should have a strong No. 2 tight end to fill in while Gronkowski is out.

TE | Delanie Walker | Tennessee Titans | Injury, Transaction, Fantasy
Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker (knee) has passed his physical and has been activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list.

Place Kicker

PK | Mason Crosby | Green Bay Packers | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Green Bay Packers PK Mason Crosby connected on nine of his 10 field goals, winning a kicking period for the first time all camp in his battle against PK Giorgio Tavecchio Monday, Aug. 19. Tavecchio made eight of his 10 attempts, and he has hit 45 of 51 field goal attempts in practice/scrimmages, while Crosby has made 41 of 51. The team plans to continue the kicking competition for at least another week.
