Chicago White Sox 1B Adam Dunn is guaranteed $15 million next season, and he is just 33 years old. "I'm not coming back just to come back for money because I have one year left (on his contract)," Dunn said. "I'm not coming back to chase home-run numbers or whatever. Third Baseman

3B | Michael Young | Los Angeles Dodgers | Transaction, Fantasy,
Los Angeles Dodgers 3B Michael Young will come off the bench for the team to spell 3B Juan Uribe when needed. Young can also play some first base. "I think he's a professional player that's got a chance to help us," said general manager Ned Colletti. "We've got a long way to go and, when you can add people this time of year who bring what he brings, you act. We've gone for it, we'll continue to go for it." Los Angeles will pay Young around $1 million of his $16 million salary. The team placed SP Josh Beckett (shoulder, neck) on the 60-day disabled list to make room for Young on the roster.

Young loses basically all of his value in mixed formats.

When he is able to return, manager Ron Gardenhire said he will wear many hats. "He's going to be the DH a lot, he'll play right field a little bit," Gardenhire said. OF | Carlos Gonzalez | Colorado Rockies | Injury, Fantasy
Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez (finger) entered as a defensive replacement in the eighth inning Tuesday, Sept. 3, but was taken out in the bottom of the inning as a precaution after re-injuring his finger swinging a bat.

It's unknown how long it'll take Cargo to get back into the lineup, but the team surely won't rush him back. He's running out of time to make a valuable contribution to your fantasy squad down the stretch.

OF | Oswaldo Arcia | Minnesota Twins | Injury, Fantasy
Minnesota Twins OF Oswaldo Arcia (wrist) returned to the lineup Tuesday, Sept. 3, against the Houston Astros. He had played in just one game since Aug. 24 since suffering a bruised left wrist in a game Aug. 19.

The team is 11-2 when he starts after a loss, and he's 9-1 with a 2.68 ERA in those games. Since Aug. 8, he has six quality starts for a 1.71 ERA. Lester's fastball was sitting in the high-90s Tuesday.

SP | Martin Perez | Texas Rangers | Fantasy,
Texas Rangers SP Martin Perez won his sixth straight start, which is a franchise rookie record, by beating the Oakland Athletics Tuesday, Sept. 3. "After the leadoff double, he was lights out," C A.J. Pierzynski said after the Rangers' 5-1 win at O.co Coliseum. "He had all the pitches going. He had a great changeup tonight, which has always been his pitch. But he really located his fastball well. And he also was able to throw two different types of breaking balls for strikes, which I think really kept them off balance." He gave up only one run and eight hits while striking out five and walking none in seven frames.

Perez has come into his own in the second half of the season and is pitching with plenty of confidence. If he's still available on your league's waiver wire, snatch him up immediately.

SP | Zach Britton | Baltimore Orioles | Transaction, Fantasy,
Baltimore Orioles SP Zach Britton was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk and will start against the Cleveland Indians Wednesday, Sept. 4. The other starters will all be moved back a day.

SP | Phil Hughes | New York Yankees | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy,
New York Yankees SP Phil Hughes has been demoted to the bullpen by manager Joe Girardi. SP David Huff will get the start Saturday, Sept. 7, in his absence.

Hughes is only worth hanging onto in AL-only fantasy leagues with 12 or more teams at this point. Huff is worth adding if you're desperate for starting pitching in AL formats.

SP | Roy Oswalt | Colorado Rockies | Injury, Fantasy,
Colorado Rockies SP Roy Oswalt made another minor-league rehab start with Rookie level Grand Junction Tuesday, Sept. 3. Weiss said his plan for Oswalt for the remainder of the season depends upon how well Oswalt performs at Grand Junction. "We're looking to get him back in the mix," Weiss said. "I don't know exactly when that is, but a lot of it will be determined by how it goes tonight and we'll go from there."

SP | Tyler Chatwood | Colorado Rockies | Injury, Fantasy,

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez (back) suffered a lower back cramp in his start Monday, Sept. 2, against the Kansas City Royals. Still, he is on target to make his next scheduled start Sunday, Sept. 8, against the Tampa Bay Rays. "Felix is a little bit sore, a little bit stiff today," manager Eric Wedge said Tuesday, Sept. 3. SP | Scott Baker | Chicago Cubs | Injury,
Chicago Cubs SP Scott Baker (elbow) tossed six innings in his final rehab start Monday, Sept. 2, but the team isn't sure what the next step is for him. It looks as though he won't start for the Cubs in the final month of the season, though. Baker threw 80 pitches Monday, but his velocity wasn't where he wanted it to be.

SP | Zack Wheeler | New York Mets | Fantasy,
New York Mets SP Zack Wheeler is around 28 innings from being shut down for the season. His next start is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 6, and it's unclear if he'll make it through the final month of the season. However, the team is considering a six-man rotation. He has thrown 151 2/3 innings between the majors and minors this year.

Continue to ride Wheeler out until he's shut down. Be aware, however, that the Mets could try to limit how deep he goes in his remaining starts in order to preserve him the rest of the way.

SP | James Paxton | Seattle Mariners | Fantasy,
Seattle Mariners SP James Paxton will start Saturday, Sept. 7.

Paxton is coming up on his innings limit for the season, however, so he should only be a candidate in deep AL-only leagues.

SP | Justin Masterson | Cleveland Indians | Injury, Fantasy,
Updating a previous report, Cleveland Indians SP Justin Masterson (oblique) is dealing with a strained left oblique muscle and will miss at least one start. He won't resume throwing until he's pain-free.

Oblique injuries are very tricky, especially for pitchers, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see Masterson miss more than one start and possibly the final month of the season.

SP | Tony Cingrani | Cincinnati Reds | Injury, Fantasy,
Cincinnati Reds SP Tony Cingrani (back) will be activated from the disabled list to start Thursday, Sept. 5.

SP | Tommy Milone | Oakland Athletics | Transaction, Free Agents,

SP | Michael Wacha | St. Louis Cardinals | Fantasy,
St. Louis Cardinals SP Michael Wacha has made the team comfortable with leaving him in the fifth spot in the rotation after pitching in a six-man rotation at Triple-A Memphis this summer. His workload is down enough that the Cardinals will feel comfortable throwing him out there every five days for the last month of the season.

SP | Matt Harvey | New York Mets | Injury, Fantasy,
New York Mets SP Matt Harvey (elbow) will seek a second opinion on the torn ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow before deciding whether to have Tommy John surgery. Harvey will likely make the decision in a week or two. Harvey said he expects to be back in time for opening day next year, but general manager Sandy Alderson is expecting Harvey to have surgery and miss all of next year.

SP | Josh Tomlin | Cleveland Indians | Transaction,
The Cleveland Indians recalled Ps Josh Tomlin, C.C. Lee, Vinnie Pestano and Carlos Carrasco from the minors Tuesday, Sept. 3.

SP | Miguel Gonzalez | Chicago White Sox | Transaction,
The Chicago White Sox recalled Ps Erik Johnson, Daniel Webb, Marcus Semien and Miguel Gonzalez from the minors Tuesday, Sept. 3.

SP | Clay Buchholz | Boston Red Sox | Injury, Fantasy,
Boston Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz (shoulder) will make his third rehab start Thursday, Sept. 5. His start was pushed back a day because his wife is expected to go into labor with the couple's second child Wednesday, Sept. 4.

SP | Ubaldo Jimenez | Cleveland Indians | Fantasy,
Cleveland Indians SPs Ubaldo Jimenez and Scott Kazmir are both willing to sign new deals to return to the team next season; both players will be free agents this winter. Jimenez hasn't opened contract talks with the team but "would listen" to their offer. "I would love to stay here," Kazmir said. "I'm very interested ... I'd love to contribute and continue to be with this group." Jimenez has an $8 million mutual option for the 2014 season, with a $1 million buyout.

SP | Hector Santiago | Chicago White Sox | Fantasy,
Chicago White Sox SP Hector Santiago will have his next start pushed back to Thursday, Sept. 5. SP Erik Johnson is the top candidate to be called up to start against the New York Yankees Wednesday, Sept. 4.

Relief Pitcher

RP | Mariano Rivera | New York Yankees | Fantasy
New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi wants CL Mariano Rivera to return in 2014. "I don't see any reason why he couldn't do it next year, I don't," Girardi said. "He's made it pretty clear that he doesn't want to (return), but I always say, you know, January rolls around and sometimes you have a different feel about what you want to do." Rivera shot it down and said he already made his decision to retire.

RP | Adam Ottavino | Colorado Rockies | Fantasy,
Colorado Rockies manager Walt Weiss plans to use RP Adam Ottavino primarily as a one-inning, late-game setup man. The skipper said he wants Ottavino to be the team's go-to reliever in the seventh inning.

RP | Tom Gorzelanny | Milwaukee Brewers | Injury, Fantasy,
Milwaukee Brewers SP Tom Gorzelanny (shoulder) will be examined Wednesday, Sept. 4, by the team's head trainer. He said he is "not quite right", and he will be examined to determine the cause of his left shoulder injury.

RP | Jason Grilli | Pittsburgh Pirates | Injury, Fantasy,
Pittsburgh Pirates RP Jason Grilli (forearm) said he doesn't expect to immediately return to the closer's role after being activated from the disabled list Tuesday, Sept. 3. Manager Clint Hurdle said Grilli will make a couple relief appearances in non-save situations before returning to the ninth inning. "Our eyes will tell us what to do with him after that, I believe ... his eyes and our eyes," Hurdle said. "We eventually plan on transitioning him back to the closer role."

Mark Melancon has a little bit more time to accrue saves in the meantime. Hang onto him if you are riding him for saves.

RP | Jeurys Familia | New York Mets | Injury,
New York Mets P Jeurys Familia (elbow) will play for Single-A Brooklyn in their last two games and then move to a playoff team elsewhere in the minor league system as he rehabs from June 5 elbow surgery. The Mets are hoping to recall Familia to the majors before the end of the year.

Jose Veras came in for the save in Benoit's absence.

RP | Chris Perez | Cleveland Indians | Fantasy,
Cleveland Indians RP Chris Perez pleaded no contest and was convicted of misdemeanor drug abuse for marijuana shipped to his home Tuesday, Sept. 3. He was found guilty and fined $250 and was also put on probation for one year and ordered to speak to kids about drugs. A related criminal case against Perez's wife is pending.

Perez shouldn't be in danger of being disciplined by the league other than having to undergo treatment programs for drug use. He has yet to test positive for marijuana, so until he does, he should be fine.
