OF Avisail Garcia, Chicago White Sox

Arizona Diamondbacks OF Adam Eaton
Avisail up

Since the Detroit Tigers traded him to the ChiSox, Garcia has batted .344 with two home runs and two stolen bases in 25 games. He hadn't displayed all the power and patience that earned him the nickname "Baby Miggy," but the 6-foot-4, 240-pound 22-year-old has a good dose of speed that Miguel Cabrera doesn't. Consider the average tenuous, but don't ignore Garcia's upside.

OF Jarrod Dyson, Kansas City Royals

Dyson once again has been the main man in KC's center field. Fantasy owners have taken notice because of his .351 average and six thefts in his last 11 games. That kind of contribution in one category can make a mighty difference in the season's final month. Fantasy owners can't count on the hot hitting, but that shouldn't matter if Dyson runs often enough.

1B Matt Adams, St. Louis Cardinals

Astute owners recognized a playing-time opportunity for this burly first baseman when Allen Craig exited the Cards' extra-innings, 5-4 victory against the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday. Craig has been diagnosed with a sprained left foot, an injury that could spell a lengthy absence for the All-Star.

Adams last night reminded fantasy owners of what he provides: He hit two bombs. He should be added everywhere.

1B/OF Chris Carter, Houston Astros

Carter, 26, has somewhat quietly amassed 27 ding dongs in his 432 at-bats this season. Of course, many fantasy owners have a strong distaste for his .220 batting average, but if they took a look at the distribution across categories these days, they might be more forgiving. Carter has hit .268 with eight jacks and 21 RBIs in his last 23 games, so anyone will take him now.
