Is a QB change on the horizon in Jacksonville?

Quarterback

QB | Chad Henne | Jacksonville Jaguars | Injury, Fantasy
Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley sounded fine with the possibility of QB Chad Henne playing well and taking the starting quarterback from QB Blaine Gabbert (thumb, hand). "That's good Ė I would hope he would say that," Bradley said. "He's a competitor. That's why we have confidence in him playing. I really want him to go out here and capture this and be at his best. That was our conversation today, 'Don't wait until Sunday to compete.'" Gabbert will miss Week 2 against the Oakland Raiders due to injury.

It wouldn't surprise us if Henne played well against Oakland and started in Week 3 over a healthy Gabbert. Henne played well for a stretch last season in the same scenario. The move to Henne bodes well for Cecil Shorts and Jacksonville stretching the field. Still, Henne is a QB2, at best.

QB | Josh Freeman | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Fantasy
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Josh Freeman overslept and missed a team photo last week. It's a story the team might have leaked in order to bolster their case to replace him as team captain.

QB | Michael Vick | Philadelphia Eagles | Injury, Fantasy
Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick was not listed on the injury report even though he appeared to be limping toward the end of the Monday, Sept. 9, game with the Washington Redskins. Vick told media he was fine and would be ready for the game Sept. 15 against the San Diego Chargers.

QB | Mark Sanchez | New York Jets | Injury, Fantasy
New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez (shoulder) is likely to have surgery after renowned Dr. James Andrews confirmed the quarterback has a labral tear in the right shoulder, according to league sources.

With Sanchez likely done for the year, the Geno Smith era is upon us. He won his first NFL start against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but Smith is still best treated as a low-end No. 2 QB or reserve fantasy option in most formats.

QB | Geno Smith | New York Jets | Injury, Fantasy
New York Jets QB Geno Smith (ankle) practiced in full Wednesday, Sept. 11, and is probable for Week 2.

QB | Christian Ponder | Minnesota Vikings | Fantasy
Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier saying QB Christian Ponder isn't in danger of losing his starting job after struggling in Week 1 against the Detroit Lions. "Christian, he made some mistakes, but he's not the only reason we didn't have success on Sunday," Frazier said. "Our team did not play well and that affects the quarterback as well. It wasn't just Christian, it just so happens that he plays the position that's under the most scrutiny." Ponder went 18-for-28 for 236 yards and three interceptions in the loss.

Until Ponder proves he's able to be a consistent force at QB, he should be ignored in most fantasy leagues.

QB | Drew Brees | New Orleans Saints | Fantasy
New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees said he will throw at Tampa Bay Buccaneers CB Darrelle Revis' side of the field in their Week 2 matchup, but they will not be careless about it.

Running Back

RB | Arian Foster | Houston Texans | Fantasy
Houston Texans RB Arian Foster was frustrated with the way the coaches limited his workload in their Week 1 victory over the San Diego Chargers. "It's getting to crunch time, it's the fourth quarter and you want to be out there. But this is kind of how it played out. In my opinion, you would be concerned with a player that's happy he's not in there in the last minutes of the game when the game is on the line," Foster said. He ran 18 times for 57 yards in the game, with RB Ben Tate getting nine rushes and going for 55 yards.

Foster better get used to it. Gary Kubiak had actually hoped that the two running backs' touches were closer to equal. Houston will continue to lessen the load of Foster throughout the season in order to keep him fresh.

RB | Da'Rel Scott | New York Giants | Injury, Fantasy
New York Giants RB Da'Rel Scott (knee) is participating in practice Thursday, Sept. 12.

RB | Trent Richardson | Cleveland Browns | Fantasy
Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator Norv Turner said he wants RB Trent Richardson to have more than 20 carries in Week 2.

T-Rich had 13 carries in Week 1, but he wasn't getting a lot done on first down. A lot will depend on whether the team can remain in games instead of being down and having to throw.

RB | Bobby Rainey | Cleveland Browns | Fantasy
The Cleveland Browns will stick with RB Bobby Rainey at kick returner, as he averaged 25.8 yards per return in four kicks returned out of the end zone. However, he only took one return past the 20-yard line. "We do have some other guys and other options. We have some flexibility there," Browns coach Rob Chudzinski said.

RB | Eddie Lacy | Green Bay Packers | Fantasy
Green Bay Packers rookie RB Eddie Lacy struggled with the details during a Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. He admitted to being nervous during the game, and it showed on the field. In his defense, some of his early runs were horribly blocked. When there was room to run, he didn't crash through the holes or maximize the yardage available to him. Lacy simply may have been thinking too much. The team didn't use a traditional fullback in front of him until the third quarter.

RB | LaMichael James | San Francisco 49ers | Injury, Fantasy
San Francisco 49ers RB LaMichael James (knee) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

RB | Rashard Mendenhall | Arizona Cardinals | Injury, Fantasy
Arizona Cardinals RB Rashard Mendenhall (hamstring) was able to practice on a limited basis Wednesday, Sept. 11.

When healthy, Mendenhall is a solid low-end RB2 or flex fantasy play. More will be known on his status Thursday into Friday. At this point, his ailment does not sound too serious.

RB | Brandon Bolden | New England Patriots | Injury, Fantasy
New England Patriots RB Brandon Bolden (knee) was limited in practice Wednesday, Sept 11, and is questionable for Week 2.

Bolden could be in line for some carries if he is healthy enough to go, especially if Stevan Ridley continues to put the ball on the ground. Check back on his status before game time.

RB | Bilal Powell | New York Jets | Injury, Fantasy
New York Jets RB Bilal Powell (shoulder) practiced in full Wednesday, Sept. 11, and is probable for Week 2.

Powell, who received more carries than Chris Ivory in the opener, could see a similar workload in Week 2. He makes for a decent flex play in deeper leagues.

RB | Maurice Jones-Drew | Jacksonville Jaguars | Fantasy
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew (non-injury) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

MJD typically rests during practice on Wednesdays, so don't be alarmed. Expect him to start in Week 2.

RB | Shonn Greene | Tennessee Titans | Injury, Fantasy
Tennessee Titans RB Shonn Greene (knee), P Brett Kern (calf), OT David Stewart (calf) and WR Damian Williams (hamstring) all did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

RB | Daryl Richardson | St. Louis Rams | Injury, Fantasy
St. Louis Rams RB Daryl Richardson (foot) tweaked his left foot midway through the team's Week 1 game, but he returned and finished the game. Head coach Jeff Fisher thinks Richardson will return to the mix shortly after missing practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Unless Richardson has a setback, expect him to start in Week 2 against the Atlanta Falcons.

RB | Bernard Pierce | Baltimore Ravens | Injury, Fantasy
Baltimore Ravens DT Arthur Jones (illness) and RB Bernard Pierce (thigh) were both limited in practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

RB | Kenjon Barner | Carolina Panthers | Injury, Fantasy
Carolina Panthers RB Kenjon Barner (foot), DT Dwan Edwards (thigh) and TE Ben Hartsock (foot) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

RB | Reggie Bush | Detroit Lions | Fantasy
Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (finger, groin) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

RB | Jamaal Charles | Kansas City Chiefs | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid expects RB Jamaal Charles (quadriceps) to play in the team's Week 2 game against the Dallas Cowboys despite being held out of practice for precautionary reasons Wednesday, Sept. 11. Charles suffered a quadriceps bruise in Week 1. If for some reason he doesn't play, RBs Cyrus Gray or Knile Davis would replace him. Gray played on passing downs in Week 1 and Davis was used on running plays.

Follow up on Charles' practice status for the rest of the week, but for now, assume that he'll play this weekend.

Wide Receiver

WR | Dez Bryant | Dallas Cowboys | Injury, Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said WR Dez Bryant (ankle) did not have a complete practice Wednesday, Sept. 11, but did not suffer a setback.

The news continues to be positive for Bryant, and he should be ready to go for Week 2. Expect the team to continue to be cautious with him the rest of the week.

WR | Danny Amendola | New England Patriots | Injury, Fantasy
In the opinion of one of the team's beat writers, New England Patriots WR Danny Amendola (groin) could miss Week 3 as well.

WR | Dwayne Harris | Dallas Cowboys | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said Wednesday, Sept. 11, that the team is evaluating the No. 3 receiver job after WR Terrance Williams dropped two passes and busted a route in the first quarter which led to an interception by QB Tony Romo. Owner and general manager Jerry Jones said Tuesday, Sept. 10, that the team will give WR Dwayne Harris more looks at the third receiver spot.

WR | Sidney Rice | Seattle Seahawks | Injury, Fantasy
Seattle Seahawks WR Sidney Rice (knee) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

WR | Larry Fitzgerald | Arizona Cardinals | Injury, Fantasy
Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (hamstring) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Fitzgerald's status for Week 2 is not believed to be in doubt, but it is something to monitor as the week goes on. We'll know much more Thursday into Friday. When healthy, he is an obvious fantasy must-start.

WR | Andre Roberts | Arizona Cardinals | Injury, Fantasy
Arizona Cardinals WR Andre Roberts (quadriceps) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

WR | Brandon Gibson | Miami Dolphins | Injury, Fantasy
Miami Dolphins WR Brandon Gibson (wrist) practiced in full Wednesday, Sept. 11.

WR | Randall Cobb | Green Bay Packers | Fantasy
Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb took three heavy hits but was able to bounce up quickly, playing with a competitive fire in the Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. In the 50 snaps he played, 49 of them saw him line up either in the slot or outside.

WR | Santonio Holmes | New York Jets | Injury, Fantasy
New York Jets WR Santonio Holmes (foot) was limited in practice Wednesday, Sept. 11, and is probable for Week 2.

Holmes, against his will, will probably be limited again in some fashion during the short week. He's a weak play.

WR | Stephen Hill | New York Jets | Injury, Fantasy
New York Jets WR Stephen Hill (knee) practiced in full Wednesday, Sept. 11, and is probable for Week 2.

Expect Hill to have a big role in Week 2 against the New England Patriots with Jeremy Kerley (concussion) sidelined. Still, he's a risky play and is better utilized as a WR4 or 5.

WR | Aaron Dobson | New England Patriots | Injury, Fantasy
New England Patriots WR Aaron Dobson (hamstring), S Nate Ebner (ankle), S Duron Harmon (hamstring), WR Matt Slater (knee), T Will Svitek (knee) and RB Leon Washington (thigh) all were limited in practice Wednesday, Sept. 11, and are questionable for Week 2.

WR | Leonard Hankerson | Washington Redskins | Fantasy
Washington Redskins WR Leonard Hankerson received praise from the coaching staff, particularly head coach Mike Shanahan, after his Week 1 performance against the Philadelphia Eagles. Hankerson had five catches for 80 yards and two touchdowns in the loss. "He needs some playing time. He's got to have some consistency, like he did (Monday) night to make those plays. He did a great job in the red zone. He ran an excellent route. What a lot of people don't see is the routes he is running and when he doesn't get the ball and he's open. That's what you are impressed with."

Hankerson will be a popular waiver wire target this week after his solid performance in the opener. He should continue to be a nice red zone weapon for Robert Griffin III, and Hankerson's value this year could be consistent with the Redskins preferring RG3 not to run as often. Consider adding him to fortify your WR depth.

WR | Julian Edelman | New England Patriots | Injury, Fantasy
New England Patriots WR Danny Amendola (groin) is doubtful to play in Week 2.

If Amendola canít go, Julian Edelman will likely take his spot in the lineup and is a nice wide receiver option in any fantasy football format.

WR | Marques Colston | New Orleans Saints | Injury, Fantasy
New Orleans Saints WR Marques Colston (foot) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

WR | Roddy White | Atlanta Falcons | Injury, Fantasy
Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

This isn't a surprise, as White indicated that his ankle injury is worse than he let on before Week 1. Expect him to be rested often during practice, and he might not be 100 percent for a few more weeks. Remember this when setting your lineups.

WR | Julio Jones | Atlanta Falcons | Injury, Fantasy
Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (knee) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

This is the first we've heard of an injury to Jones. Roddy White (ankle) is banged up, too. Check back for updates on both of Atlanta's star receivers.

WR | Wes Welker | Denver Broncos | Injury, Fantasy
Denver Broncos WR Wes Welker (ankle) was limited in practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

WR | Eric Decker | Denver Broncos | Injury, Fantasy
Denver Broncos WR Eric Decker (shoulder) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

WR | Jeremy Kerley | New York Jets | Injury, Fantasy
New York Jets WR Jeremy Kerley (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 2.

With Kerley out, Stephen Hill and Kellen Winslow should have added value this week because they likely will receive more targets in the passing game. Santonio Holmes' value likely will not change much because he may still be limited with his foot injury.

Tight End

TE | Clay Harbor | Jacksonville Jaguars | Injury, Fantasy
Jacksonville Jaguars TE Clay Harbor could see an expanded role if TE Marcedes Lewis (calf) misses his second straight game, as expected. Harbor played in 12 snaps in Week 1 and caught one pass for five yards. "We like his athleticism," head coach Gus Bradley said. "We felt like where we were in training camp to now, we've upgraded that position. There are some traits there we like. We like his toughness and he'll put his face in there."

Harbor can be ignored with Allen Reisner also in the mix.

TE | Jermichael Finley | Green Bay Packers | Injury, Fantasy
Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley (toe) is participating in practice Thursday, Sept. 12.

TE | Luke Willson | Seattle Seahawks | Injury, Fantasy
Seattle Seahawks TE Luke Willson (oblique) was able to practice in full Wednesday, Sept. 11.

TE | Rob Housler | Arizona Cardinals | Injury, Fantasy
Arizona Cardinals TE Rob Housler (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Housler is a deep sleeper for fantasy purposes, but he did not play in Week 1, and his status for Week 2 is uncertain. Avoid him in all leagues until he can prove his health in at least one full game without any setbacks.

TE | Owen Daniels | Houston Texans | Injury, Fantasy
Houston Texans TE Owen Daniels (back, groin) was limited in practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

It's unknown what the severity of Daniels' injuries are at this point. Check back for more on his status throughout the week. Daniels was a bright spot in the team's passing game in their Week 1 victory, and if he can play in Week 2, he should be a solid option again going against the Tennessee Titans.

TE | David Ausberry | Oakland Raiders | Injury, Fantasy
Oakland Raiders TE David Ausberry (shoulder), S Tyvon Branch (shoulder), PK Sebastian Janikowski (calf) and OT Menelik Watson (knee) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

TE | Zach Sudfeld | New England Patriots | Injury, Fantasy
New England Patriots TE Zach Sudfeld (hamstring) was limited in practice Wednesday, Sept 11, and is questionable for Week 2.

After an impressive preseason, Sudfeld got off to a slow start in Week 1 and the injury situation will not give fantasy owners anymore confidence. Look elsewhere until Sudfeld can get himself back into the lineup and get more than one look from Tom Brady.

TE | Rob Gronkowski | New England Patriots | Injury, Fantasy
New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (back, forearm) is doubtful to play in the team's Week 2 game.

TE | Dwayne Allen | Indianapolis Colts | Injury, Fantasy
Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen (hip) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Place Kicker

PK | Sebastian Janikowski | Oakland Raiders | Injury, Fantasy
Oakland Raiders TE David Ausberry (shoulder), S Tyvon Branch (shoulder), PK Sebastian Janikowski (calf) and OT Menelik Watson (knee) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.
