Quarterback

QB | Brian Hoyer | Cleveland Browns | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous item, Cleveland Browns QB Brian Hoyer (knee) was diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee, and he'll miss the rest of the season. QB Brandon Weeden is expected to become the starting quarterback as a result.

Weeden gets a break and gets another shot to prove to the team brass that he belongs as the starting QB. If they aren't sold yet, do they go after Josh Freeman? We shall see. Josh Gordon remains the Browns' best aerial weapon. Davone Bess probably loses some fantasy luster as a result, though.

QB | Carson Palmer | Arizona Cardinals | Fantasy
Updating a previous report, Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer said head coach Bruce Arians' offensive system is the most complex and difficult offense he's had to learn in his career. He's only completed 57 percent of his passes for 1,010 yards and four touchdowns and six interceptions. The Cardinals rank 18th in the NFL in passing, 26th in rushing and 27th in overall offense. "It's the whole offense," WR Andre Roberts said. "He's (Palmer) not played well at times, receivers have not played as well at times, the offensive line, running backs. It's a team effort. Especially on offense, you've got to have all 11 guys on the same page." WR Larry Fitzgerald said there are "a lot of nuances" in the system, but if done right, "it's pretty invincible." Palmer has been sacked 10 times and will have a new left tackle, OT Bradley Sowell, protecting his blind side in Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers.

There may still be hope for Palmer and the rest of Arizona's offensive production, but time is running out. The offensive line must do a better job at protecting Palmer and opening lanes for the running game. the Panthers' front seven will pose a tough test again this weekend.

QB | EJ Manuel | Buffalo Bills | Injury, Fantasy
Updating an earlier report, Buffalo Bills QB EJ Manuel (knee) will have an MRI on his right knee Friday, Oct. 4.

QB | Terrelle Pryor | Oakland Raiders | Injury, Fantasy
Oakland Raiders QB Terrelle Pryor (concussion) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

QB | Geno Smith | New York Jets | Injury, Fantasy
New York Jets QB Geno Smith (ankle) practiced in full Thursday, Oct. 3.

QB | Josh Freeman | Free Agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
The Cleveland Browns have no interest in free agent QB Josh Freeman (Buccaneers).

QB | Mike Glennon | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon will get 12 auditions that will go into the team's decisions on whether they will draft a quarterback in 2014.

Even with some clarity on the quarterback situation, Glennon is no more than a bye week fill-in if there is a favorable matchup.

Running Back

RB | Stevan Ridley | New England Patriots | Injury, Fantasy
New England Patriots RB Stevan Ridley (knee) is out of practice Friday, Oct. 4.

He could still play in Week 5, but it's not looking good.

RB | Darren McFadden | Oakland Raiders | Injury, Fantasy
Oakland Raiders head coach Dennis Allen indicated RB Darren McFadden (hamstring) could still play Week 5 even if he does not practice Friday, Oct. 4.

It sounds like McFadden will be a game-time decision this week. He will be a risky fantasy start this week because the Raiders do not play until Sunday night. Owners should consider benching McFadden this week if they have better options.

RB | Marshawn Lynch | Seattle Seahawks | Injury, Fantasy
Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (non-injury) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

RB | Mark Ingram | New Orleans Saints | Injury, Fantasy
New Orleans Saints S Roman Harper (knee), RB Mark Ingram (toe) and DT Tyrunn Walker (knee) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

RB | Shonn Greene | Tennessee Titans | Injury, Fantasy
Tennessee Titans RB Shonn Greene (knee), DT Sammie Hill (ankle), DE Ropati Pitoitua (shoulder), OT David Stewart (calf) and CB Blidi Wreh-Wilson (hamstring) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

RB | Ben Tate | Houston Texans | Injury, Fantasy
Houston Texans RB Ben Tate (shoulder) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

RB | Arian Foster | Houston Texans | Injury, Fantasy
Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (back, thumb) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

RB | Jamaal Charles | Kansas City Chiefs | Injury, Fantasy
Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (toes) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

Charles is just dealing with blisters on his toes, so it shouldn't be anything that would keep him from playing in Week 5 versus the Tennessee Titans or limit his effectiveness. Continue to roll with Charles.

RB | Eddie Lacy | Green Bay Packers | Injury, Fantasy
Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (concussion) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

RB | Maurice Jones-Drew | Jacksonville Jaguars | Fantasy
The Jacksonville Jaguars have yet to approach RB Maurice Jones-Drew about a contract extension. The team is open to re-signing him, but there is no rush.

RB | Mike Goodson | New York Jets | Injury, Fantasy
New York Jets RB Chris Ivory (hamstring) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

Ivory took some repetitions in the portion of practice open to the media, however. It's a good sign. But with Bilal Powell remaining the lead back and Mike Goodson back in the picture, it's hard to see Ivory making a huge fantasy impact for at least another week or two.

RB | Chris Ivory | New York Jets | Injury, Fantasy
New York Jets RB Chris Ivory (hamstring) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

Ivory took some repetitions in the portion of practice open to the media, however. It's a good sign. But with Bilal Powell remaining the lead back and Mike Goodson back in the picture, it's hard to see Ivory making a huge fantasy impact for at least another week or two.

RB | Bilal Powell | New York Jets | Injury, Fantasy

RB | Steven Jackson | Atlanta Falcons | Injury, Fantasy
Atlanta Falcons RB Steven Jackson (hamstring) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 3. Jackson observed practice in shorts and hasn't practiced since injuring his hamstring in Week 2. However, head coach Mike Smith is optimistic about Jackson, but he won't return to action until he's 100 percent healthy. "We're not going to rule him out at this point in time," Smith said. "He's working hard to get back. And we'll have to see how the rest of the week plays out."

We don't expect S-Jax to be back this weekend, given the fact that Atlanta has their bye in Week 6. It's very realistic for Jackson to return in Week 7, making Jacquizz Rodgers and Jason Snelling very short-term values.

RB | Ahmad Bradshaw | Indianapolis Colts | Injury, Fantasy
Indianapolis Colts RB Ahmad Bradshaw (neck), who is visiting with Dr. Robert Watkins, is unlikely to play in Week 5 against the Seattle Seahawks. Bradshaw is trying to determine if he'll need to undergo surgery.

RB | Reggie Bush | Detroit Lions | Fantasy
Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush said he has become much more of a complete runner and has learned to be an effective rusher in between the tackles, instead of just being used as a slasher on the outside. "When I look back, I'm so much more advanced in just my vision, my understanding of schemes, linebackers, where they have to play their gaps and just all the different things that come along with being a running back," Bush said. "So it's taken a while. It didn't happen overnight. It took me a while, took a couple years." In Bush's final three seasons with the New Orleans Saints, he ran between the tackles 64 percent of the time. In his two seasons with the Miami Dolphins, that number jumped to 76 percent, and so far this season, he's running between the tackles a career-best 81 percent.

Fullback

FB | Marcel Reece | Oakland Raiders | Injury, Fantasy
Oakland Raiders FB Marcel Reece (knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

Wide Receiver

WR | Anquan Boldin | San Francisco 49ers | Fantasy
San Francisco 49ers WR Anquan Boldin has 24 catches for 372 yards and two touchdowns this season. The other five wideouts have combined for 13 catches for 112 yards.

At the moment, Boldin is clearly the only receiver worth owning in your fantasy league. Jonathan Baldwin is a flier in cavernous leagues, but until he shows a glimmer of hope, there are probably better options out there. The Niners have success when they are consistently running the ball, too, so don't expect much to change.

WR | Stevie Johnson | Buffalo Bills | Injury, Fantasy
Buffalo Bills WR Stevie Johnson (back) left the team's Week 5 game because of a back injury and is considered questionable to return.

WR | Lance Moore | New Orleans Saints | Injury, Fantasy
New Orleans Saints WR Lance Moore (hand) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 3, and his availability for Week 5 is in major question. Moore didn't wear any protection on his injured right hand like he did last week, but he wants to be fully recovered before returning to action.

As of now, it's looking like Moore could miss his second straight game. He's been a pretty big disappointment so far this year. Don't feel compelled to keep him on your roster any longer.

WR | Kenbrell Thompkins | New England Patriots | Injury, Fantasy
New England Patriots WR Kenbrell Thompkins (shoulder) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

WR | Aaron Dobson | New England Patriots | Injury, Fantasy
New England Patriots WR Aaron Dobson (neck) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

WR | Danny Amendola | New England Patriots | Injury, Fantasy
New England Patriots WR Danny Amendola (groin) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

WR | Kenny Britt | Tennessee Titans | Injury, Fantasy
Tennessee Titans WR Kenny Britt (neck, ribs) practiced in full Thursday, Oct. 3.

It looks like Britt should be able to return this week, but that doesn't mean he'll immediately return to No. 1 wide receiver duties. Nate Washington and Kendall Wright have earned more work, so Britt should only be an option for those in deeper leagues.

WR | Andre Johnson | Houston Texans | Injury, Fantasy
Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson (shin) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

WR | Cecil Shorts | Jacksonville Jaguars | Injury, Fantasy
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Cecil Shorts (groin) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

WR | Brandon Marshall | Chicago Bears | Injury, Fantasy
Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (foot) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

WR | Santonio Holmes | New York Jets | Injury, Fantasy
New York Jets WR Santonio Holmes (foot, hamstring) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

Holmes is expected to be out for several weeks, so there is virtually zero chance he plays this weekend. That will make Jeremy Kerley the No. 1 receiver this weekend against the Atlanta Falcons. He's a flex candidate in deeper leagues.

WR | Stephen Hill | New York Jets | Injury, Fantasy
New York Jets WR Stephen Hill (concussion) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

WR | Clyde Gates | New York Jets | Injury, Fantasy
New York Jets WR Clyde Gates (knee) and CB Darrin Walls (shoulder) were limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

WR | Roddy White | Atlanta Falcons | Injury, Fantasy
Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (ankle) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

White looked to be moving around much better in the team's Week 4 loss. With White moving closer to 100 percent health, it'll be easier to get him into your starting lineups, especially with the bye weeks here.

WR | Julio Jones | Atlanta Falcons | Injury, Fantasy
Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (knee) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 3. Jones said the training staff tried to keep him from returning in the team's Week 4 game after he suffered a stinger to his leg. "It was just the initial hit, I was like, 'Wow.' But it was just like a little stinger," Jones said. "It was nothing drastic. It was nothing serious. I went back out there and I finished the game." His knee injury is unrelated to the injury he suffered Sunday night.

Jones returned in the game last Sunday to make some big catches in the team's loss, so his injury isn't serious at all. He should be fully expected to play again in Week 5. Keep him in your starting lineups.

WR | Brandon Gibson | Miami Dolphins | Injury, Fantasy
Miami Dolphins WR Brandon Gibson (ankle) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

WR | Jacoby Jones | Baltimore Ravens | Injury, Fantasy
Baltimore Ravens WR Jacoby Jones (knee) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

WR | Brandon Stokley | Baltimore Ravens | Injury, Fantasy
Baltimore Ravens LB Arthur Brown (shoulder), RB Shaun Draughn (ankle) and WR Brandon Stokley (thigh) were limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

WR | Marlon Brown | Baltimore Ravens | Injury, Fantasy
Baltimore Ravens WR Marlon Brown (thigh) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

WR | Dwayne Harris | Dallas Cowboys | Injury, Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys WR Dwayne Harris (hip) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

WR | Eric Decker | Denver Broncos | Injury, Fantasy
Denver Broncos WR Eric Decker (shoulder, ankle) was limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

Decker should be fine for Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys. Keep him in your lineup.

WR | Miles Austin | Dallas Cowboys | Injury, Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys WR Miles Austin (hamstring) is not participating in practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

With Austin missing Week 4, and not practicing to this point in preparation for Week 5, his status for this week’s game is in question. Even if he can play, he is likely to be limited.

Tight End

TE | Rob Gronkowski | New England Patriots | Injury, Fantasy
A person familiar with the New England Patriots' thinking said they're not confident TE Rob Gronkowski (forearm, back) will play in Week 5.

Round-and-round we go for another week. Expect him to be a game-time decision, but it doesn't sound like he'll suit up again.

TE | Brandon Pettigrew | Detroit Lions | Fantasy
Detroit Lions TE Brandon Pettigrew is being asked to block more this year than ever in his four-year career.

He's going to be a spotty fantasy player, as witnessed by his seven catches last week. He's probably not a TE1 at this point, but he'll have matchups where he can be used as a bye-week fill-in.

TE | Vernon Davis | San Francisco 49ers | Injury, Fantasy
San Francisco 49ers TE Vernon Davis (hamstring) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

TE | Zach Miller | Seattle Seahawks | Injury, Fantasy
Seattle Seahawks TE Zach Miller (hamstring) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

TE | Owen Daniels | Houston Texans | Injury, Fantasy
Houston Texans TE Owen Daniels (knee) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

TE | Jermichael Finley | Green Bay Packers | Injury, Fantasy
Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley (concussion) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

TE | Martellus Bennett | Chicago Bears | Injury, Fantasy
Chicago Bears TE Martellus Bennett (shoulder) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

TE | Kellen Winslow | New York Jets | Injury, Fantasy
New York Jets TE Kellen Winslow (knee) did not practice Thursday, Oct. 3.

It's a normal rest day for Winslow. He should play this weekend and will likely have an expanded role with both Stephen Hill (concussion) and Santonio Holmes (hamstring) sidelined.

TE | Zach Sudfeld | Free Agent | Transaction, Free Agents, Fantasy
The New England Patriots released TE Zach Sudfeld Thursday, Oct. 3.

This essentially means that Rob Gronkowski (forearm, back) is ready to make his season debut in Week 5 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Get Gronk in your lineups if he's active.

Place Kicker

PK | Matt Prater | Denver Broncos | Injury, Fantasy
Denver Broncos LB Paris Lenon (thigh), CB Champ Bailey (foot) and PK Matt Prater (calf) were limited in practice Thursday, Oct. 3.
