Outfielder

OF | Carlos Beltran | St. Louis Cardinals | Fantasy
St. Louis Cardinals OF Carlos Beltran hit his 16th career postseason home run Sunday, Oct. 6, against the Pittsburgh Pirates, moving him past Babe Ruth on the all-time postseason homer list.

OF | Michael Cuddyer | Colorado Rockies | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
In a letter to season-ticket holders last week, Colorado Rockies owner Dick Monfort wrote that OF Michael Cuddyer is expected to take over as the regular first baseman in 2014, saying that it would create "an opportunity to fill (right field) with a big bat."

OF | Andre Ethier | Los Angeles Dodgers | Injury, Fantasy
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said OF Andre Ethier (ankle) appears unlikely to receive any starts in the NLDS against the Atlanta Braves, although his ankle has improved to the point where he would be allowed to run "station to station" in certain game situations. Mattingly said OF Yasiel Puig would not be moved out of right field and if someone other than Skip Schumaker needs to play center field, it would be Scott Van Slyke rather than Ethier.

OF | Coco Crisp | Oakland Athletics | Injury, Fantasy
Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp (cramps) said that he was dealing with muscle cramping late in Game 1 of the ALDS against the Detroit Tigers.

OF | Yoenis Cespedes | Oakland Athletics | Injury, Fantasy
Oakland Athletics OF Yoenis Cespedes (shoulder) is starting in left field and hitting fifth in Game 1 of the American League Division Series against the Detroit Tigers Friday, Oct. 4.

Starting Pitcher

SP | David Price | Tampa Bay Rays | Fantasy
Rival executives believe the Tampa Bay Rays will trade SP David Price in the offseason, as they have a tendency to do so when a pitcher is two years from free agency.

SP | Justin Verlander | Detroit Tigers | Fantasy
Detroit Tigers SP Justin Verlander struck out 11 batters over seven scoreless innings in Game 2 of the ALDS Saturday, Oct. 5, against the Oakland Athletics. He only allowed four hits and one walk but received a no-decision. Verlander had struggled in recent outings, having only recorded one win in his final 10 regular-season starts.

SP | Sonny Gray | Oakland Athletics | Fantasy
In his postseason debut, Oakland Athletics SP Sonny Gray allowed four hits over eight scoreless innings in Game 2 of the ALDS Saturday, Oct. 5, against the Detroit Tigers, with two walks and nine strikeouts.

SP | Bronson Arroyo | Cincinnati Reds | Free Agents,
Cincinnati Reds impending free-agent SP Bronson Arroyo said he will be looking for a three-year deal this offseason and does not expect the Reds to offer that kind of contract.

SP | Chris Archer | Tampa Bay Rays | Fantasy,
Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer tossed 1 1/3 innings of relief in Game 1 of the ALDS against the Boston Red Sox Friday, Oct. 4. He is still a possibility to start Game 4.

SP | Hyun-Jin Ryu | Los Angeles Dodgers | Injury, Fantasy,
Los Angeles Dodgers SP Hyun-Jin Ryu (elbow) worked out with a compression sleeve on his left elbow earlier this week and threw a rare bullpen session between starts Friday, Oct. 4, under the supervision of manager Don Mattingly, team surgeon Neal ElAttrache and medical director Stan Conte. However, he appeared to throw without discomfort and expects to start Game 3 of the NLDS against the Atlanta Braves Sunday, Oct. 6. Ryu said he was "fine" and added that the sleeve was designed to "keep my arm loose."

SP | Burch Smith | San Diego Padres | Fantasy
The San Diego Padres have decided to replace SP Burch Smith in the Arizona Fall League with P Dennis O'Grady because they were concerned about the number of innings Smith has already thrown this year.

SP | Jon Lester | Boston Red Sox | Fantasy,
Boston Red Sox SP Jon Lester allowed two earned runs, three hits and three walks with seven strikeouts over 7 2/3 innings in a win in Game 1 of the American League Division Series against the Tampa Bay Rays Friday, Oct. 4. It was the first time in seven career postseason starts that Lester lasted longer than seven innings. "The adrenaline was going," Lester said. "Our game plan early on was to set the tone, come right after the guys."

Lester looked good in his first postseason start in more than four years. He will toe the slab again in Game 5, if necessary, Thursday, Oct. 10.

SP | Matt Moore | Tampa Bay Rays | Fantasy,
Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Moore allowed eight runs - seven earned - and eight hits with two walks over 4 1/3 innings in a loss in Game 1 of the American League Division Series against the Boston Red Sox Friday, Oct. 4.

Moore entered the game with a 10-1 record over his past 16 starts, but he clearly didn't have it in this one, disappointing fantasy owners in daily leagues and postseason pools. He'll look for redemption in Game 5, if necessary, Thursday, Oct. 10.

SP | Francisco Liriano | Pittsburgh Pirates | Fantasy,
Pittsburgh Pirates SP Francisco Liriano will make the start in Game 3 of the National League Division Series Sunday, Oct. 6, against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Liriano is a tremendous fantasy option in postseason pools and daily leagues, as he is 4-0 with a 1.16 ERA in four career starts against St. Louis. He allowed just 10 hits with 20 strikeouts in 22 innings over three starts against the Cardinals in 2013, including one complete game.

SP | Gerrit Cole | Pittsburgh Pirates | Fantasy,
Pittsburgh Pirates SP Gerrit Cole made his postseason debut Friday, Oct. 4, in Game 2 of the National League Division Series against the St. Louis Cardinals. He allowed one earned run, two hits and a walk with five strikeouts over six innings for the win, leveling the series at one game apiece. Cole also added an RBI in the victory.

SP | Lance Lynn | St. Louis Cardinals | Fantasy,
St. Louis Cardinals SP Lance Lynn allowed five earned runs, seven hits and three walks with six strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings in a loss Friday, Oct. 4, against the Pittsburgh Pirates in Game 2 of the National League Division Series. Lynn has failed to last long enough to qualify for the victory in any of his three career postseason starts. "It was a bad game," Lynn said. "I made four bad pitches for four extra-base hits. When I made a mistake with the fastball, they were ready for it."

SP | Alex Sanabia | Arizona Diamondbacks | Transaction,
The Arizona Diamondbacks claimed SP Alex Sanabia off waivers from the Miami Marlins Friday, Oct. 4.

SP | Jaime Garcia | St. Louis Cardinals | Injury, Fantasy,
St. Louis Cardinals SP Jaime Garcia (shoulder) said he's been throwing bullpen sessions for more than two weeks, and he's feeling like he's "ahead of schedule."

SP | Matt Harvey | New York Mets | Injury, Fantasy,
New York Mets SP Matt Harvey (elbow) is ending his rehab plans and will undergo Tommy John surgery. He is expected to miss all of the 2014 season.

You'll obviously have to avoid Harvey next season, and you'll have to bite the bullet and stash him in deep keeper leagues. Depending on how his rehab goes from the procedure, it might not be until midway through the 2015 season when he returns to top form.

SP | Ricky Romero | Toronto Blue Jays | Transaction,
The Toronto Blue Jays outrighted SP Ricky Romero and C Mike Nickeas to Triple-A Buffalo Friday, Oct. 4, after they cleared waivers.
