Quarterback

QB | Michael Vick | Philadelphia Eagles | Injury, Fantasy
Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick (hamstring) said he expects to play in Week 8 against the New York Giants and that he could be at 80 percent for the contest.

Vick could easily suffer a setback in this game if he's not careful. However, if he's starting he should be good as a low-end QB1 against a Giants team that has been beat often this year.

QB | Colin Kaepernick | San Francisco 49ers | Fantasy
The San Francisco 49ers were successful on many zone-read runs in their victory over the Tennessee Titans in Week 7. QB Colin Kaepernick had a 20-yard rushing touchdown and finished with 68 yards on 11 runs. His running also opened up throwing lanes on the perimeter for the receivers. WR Anquan Boldin had five catches for 74 yards, and he thought he pistol scheme allowed for one-on-one matchups on the outside. "It makes defenses declare," Boldin said of the quarterback-driven runs. "Are you going to be bringing an eighth guy down in the box to stop the run or are you going to stay with seven guys? It definitely clears things up for us. It allows us to throw the ball outside as well."

The Niners offense is clicking on all cylinders right now, and it coincides with the success that Frank Gore is having on the ground with a substantial workload. Look for San Fran to continue using this recipe, and the success should continue this weekend against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

QB | Joe Flacco | Baltimore Ravens | Fantasy
The Baltimore Ravens changed up their offensive scheme, with QB Joe Flacco running more plays from the shotgun and spread formations in Week 7. "We wanted to do a little of that and see if we could keep them on the field and run them around a little bit," Flacco said. The Ravens also ran the no huddle offense. These moves opened up the running game, and the team was able to establish the run with more success. RB Ray Rice had 15 carries for 45 yards and RB Bernard Pierce had six carries for 13 yards. The Ravens averaged 3.2 yards per carry.

QB | Sam Bradford | St. Louis Rams | Injury, Fantasy
St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said QB Sam Bradford (knee) is the team's quarterback in 2014. Bradford is expected to be ready when the season opens. Fisher also said the team doesn't expect to trade for a quarterback. QB Kellen Clemens will start in Week 8.

Running Back

RB | Doug Martin | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Injury, Fantasy
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (shoulder) did not participate in practice Tuesday, Oct. 22. Martin is not expected to play in the team's Week 8 game.

RB | Jonathan Stewart | Carolina Panthers | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (ankle) is expecting to return to play in Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons. He returned to practice for the first time Tuesday, Oct. 22, since injuring his right ankle Nov. 26 of last season. He will remain on the Physically Unable to Perform list for the team's game Thursday, Oct. 24. Stewart is expected to split time with RBs DeAngelo Williams and Mike Tolbert when he returns, but head coach Ron Rivera said Williams will remain the "premiere guy."

RB | C.J. Spiller | Buffalo Bills | Injury, Fantasy
Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller (ankle) has been playing hurt for the last three games, and head coach Doug Marrone said that Spiller's progress will be monitored moving forward. "The injury has everything to do with it, not some of it," said Marrone of Spiller's production. "We're looking at the production, seeing if he's getting better and not putting him out there in jeopardy."

Don't be surprised if the Bills ease up on Spiller's workload in upcoming weeks to keep him healthy for the home stretch of games. With Fred Jackson able to handle more of the workload to ease the pressure on Spiller, the first-round fantasy pick is better left as an RB2 or high-end RB3 while he continues to play at less than 100 percent.

RB | Adrian Peterson | Minnesota Vikings | Fantasy
Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson carried just 13 times for 28 yards in the Week 7 game against the New York Giants Monday, Oct. 21, and he added two receptions for 28 yards.

The yardage total was the lowest for Peterson in a game he ended up healthy at the end since he posted just 19 rushing yards on 13 carries in a game Dec. 6, 2009. He remains a must-start in all fantasy leagues, obviously, but he needs the quarterback play to be much better to take defenders out of the box.

RB | Peyton Hillis | New York Giants | Fantasy
New York Giants RB Peyton Hillis carried 18 times for just 36 yards in the Week 7 game against the Minnesota Vikings Monday, Oct. 21. However, he was able to score a rushing touchdown in his first game with the team.

Hillis was just signed mid-week by the team, and he made an instant splash, also catching five balls for 45 yards. Hillis might be a decent short-term fantasy option as an RB3 or flex option in leagues of 12 or more teams if you're desperate for help at the RB position.

RB | Michael Cox | New York Giants | Injury, Fantasy
New York Giants RB Michael Cox carried 11 times for just 23 yards in a start in Week 7 against the Minnesota Vikings Monday, Oct. 21. Cox started with RBs Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) and David Wilson (neck) sidelined.

The Giants didn't appear to trust Cox in pass protection, and by the end of the game the team leaned more heavily upon Peyton Hillis, who was just signed a few days ago. Cox doesn't look like a fantasy option with much of a future.

RB | Ben Tate | Houston Texans | Injury, Fantasy
Houston Texans RB Ben Tate (ribs) said he is dealing with four broken ribs but expects to play after the team's Week 8 bye.

Wide Receiver

WR | Mike Williams | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Injury, Fantasy
Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Williams (hamstring) was limited in practice Tuesday, Oct. 22.

WR | Mohamed Sanu | Cincinnati Bengals | Fantasy
Cincinnati Bengals WR Mohamed Sanu is making key plays at key times for the Bengals. While Sanu has not scored a red zone touchdown yet this year, he caught a key pass in overtime of a game to convert a first down, and also has been used in a wildcat formation.

WR | Brandon LaFell | Carolina Panthers | Injury, Fantasy
Carolina Panthers WR Brandon LaFell (knee) practiced in full Tuesday, Oct. 22.

WR | Cordarrelle Patterson | Minnesota Vikings | Fantasy
Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson had an end-around and a season-high six targets in the team's Week 7 loss to the New York Giants Monday, Oct. 21.

He caught three of those six passes for just 22 yards, though. There is a glimmer of hope for Patterson, but until the quarterback situation improves in Minnesota, there's not much incentive to add him to your roster.

WR | Anquan Boldin | San Francisco 49ers | Fantasy

WR | Hakeem Nicks | New York Giants | Injury, Fantasy
New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks (finger) had X-rays on one of his fingers after the Week 7 game.

Nicks had a couple of drops in a fairly sluggish win for the G-Men.

WR | Josh Gordon | Cleveland Browns | Transaction, Fantasy
At least three teams have contacted the Cleveland Browns about trading for WR Josh Gordon, and two have standing offers of a high pick and a player. The Browns are reportedly balking.

WR | Percy Harvin | Seattle Seahawks | Injury, Fantasy
The Seattle Seahawks plan to take a cautious approach with WR Percy Harvin (hip), who will return to practice this week. The team will now have three weeks to decide whether to take him off the Physically Unable to Perform list and add him to the active roster. Head coach Pete Carroll does not want to bring him back until he's 100 percent ready to play.

Harvin should be owned in all leagues. However, temper your expectations with the Seahawks taking a slow and cautious approach with his recovery. He may not realistically be at full speed until next season.

Tight End

TE | Greg Olsen | Carolina Panthers | Injury, Fantasy
Carolina Panthers TE Greg Olsen (foot) practiced in full Tuesday, Oct. 22.

TE | Dennis Pitta | Baltimore Ravens | Injury, Fantasy
The Baltimore Ravens are not expecting TE Dennis Pitta (hip) to return until mid-to-late November. Pitta is working out regularly but his return to the field is not imminent.

TE | Jermichael Finley | Green Bay Packers | Injury, Fantasy
Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley (spine) is expected to be released from the hospital within the next 24 hours and he'll likely miss at least four to six weeks, according to sources. Finley isn't likely to need surgery, and he should be able to resume his career. He could visit with more neurosurgeons and specialists regarding his spine injury. Doctors think his injury was caused by extreme torque and not by spinal compression. There is still a possibility that the Packers place Finley on season-ending Injured Reserve if they don't want to risk bringing him back this season.

With an injury this severe, there are no guarantees that Finley will return at all this season. If you need the roster space to add tight end depth, you may need to cut bait on Finley. Andrew Quarless will step up in Finley's place and could be a decent backup option in this offense.

TE | Jake Ballard | Free Agent | Free Agents, Fantasy
The Kansas City Chiefs will work out free-agent TE Jake Ballard (Patriots) Tuesday, Oct. 22.
