First Baseman

1B | Allen Craig | St. Louis Cardinals | Injury, Fantasy
St. Louis Cardinals 1B Allen Craig (foot) had no issues with his injured foot in Game 1 of the World Series.

Second Baseman

2B | Micah Johnson | Chicago White Sox | Injury
Chicago White Sox 2B Micah Johnson (elbow) will undergo surgery next week to reposition a nerve in his right elbow.

2B | Robinson Cano | New York Yankees | Free Agents, Fantasy
The New York Yankees are hopeful about re-signing impending free-agent 2B Robinson Cano even though he is asking for $310 million while the team is offering around $160 million. The team expects Cano to test free agency this offseason.

Catcher

C | Mike Napoli | Boston Red Sox | Fantasy
Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell has made it clear that when the World Series moves to St. Louis for Game 3 and beyond, there is no way 1B Mike Napoli makes an appearance behind the plate with the designated hitter option unavailable.

David Ortiz is likely to be used at first base to keep his bat in the lineup. Napoli has been playing first base, but with the DH unavailable in the National League Park and Farrell wanting to keep Ortiz's bat in the lineup, it appears Napoli will be the odd-man out.

Outfielder

OF | Carlos Beltran | St. Louis Cardinals | Injury, Fantasy
St. Louis Cardinals OF Carlos Beltran (rib) is being listed as day-to-day with a right rib contusion that he suffered in Game 1 of the World Series Wednesday, Oct. 23. X-rays were negative. OF Jon Jay took over in center field and OF Shane Robinson shifted from center to right field.

OF | Alex Castellanos | Boston Red Sox | Transaction,
The Boston Red Sox acquired OF Alex Castellanos from the Los Angeles Dodgers Wednesday, Oct. 23, in exchange for OF Jeremy Hazelbaker and cash considerations. The Red Sox designated RP Pedro Beato for assignment in a corresponding move.

OF | Shin-Soo Choo | Cincinnati Reds | Free Agents, Fantasy
The New York Yankees have discussed the possibility of pursuing Cincinnati Reds impending free-agent OF Shin-Soo Choo this offseason. The team likes Choo's ability to get on base.

Starting Pitcher

SP | Clay Buchholz | Boston Red Sox | Injury, Fantasy,
Boston Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz (shoulder) is feeling "fatigue" in his right shoulder and won't start until Game 4 of the World Series Sunday, Oct. 27. "It's just a little dead at certain points," he said. "It's not like a pinpoint straight spot where I can say, 'Yeah, there it is.' It's just general." SP Jake Peavy will get the nod in Game 3 Saturday, Oct. 26. Buchholz said his fatigue is something different than what caused him to miss most of the season.

SP | Jon Lester | Boston Red Sox | Fantasy,
Boston Red Sox SP Jon Lester allowed five hits and a walk with eight strikeouts over 7 2/3 scoreless innings in Game 1 of the World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals. He is just the third pitcher in Major League history to allow no runs in each of his first two career World Series starts, joining Hall of Famer Christy Mathewson and San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner.

SP | Adam Wainwright | St. Louis Cardinals | Fantasy,
St. Louis Cardinals SP Adam Wainwright made his first career World Series start in Game 1 against the Boston Red Sox Wednesday, Oct. 23. He allowed five runs - three earned - and six hits with a walk and four strikeouts in just five innings. He had made three previous appearances in the World Series, but all were in a relief role.

SP | Felix Doubront | Boston Red Sox | Injury, Fantasy,
Boston Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz (undisclosed) may need to be replaced in the starting rotation for the World Series, as he's dealing with an undisclosed injury. P Felix Doubront, who is already on the roster, would be the likely option to start a game if Buchholz can't pitch.
