Quarterback

QB | Tom Brady | New England Patriots | Injury, Fantasy
New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (hand) said after the Week 8 game against the Miami Dolphins that his hand is fine, although a close-up look on television showed noticeable swelling of his throwing hand. He completed 13 of his 22 pass attempts for just 116 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the victory. "My hand is perfect," Brady said Sunday, Oct. 26. "I didn't know that anyone knows what the back of my hand looks like. It looks fine to me. It feels good, so I'll be out there next week, you don't have to worry about that."

Brady might claim his hand is fine, but photographic evidence proved otherwise, and his stat line doesn't lie either. It might be a good idea to have an alternate plan heading into Week 9 if you own Brady in fantasy leagues. He is clearly not 100 percent, and he is hurting fantasy owners.

QB | Nick Foles | Philadelphia Eagles | Injury, Fantasy
Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (concussion) has not yet been cleared to practice, and it appears his concussion might linger.

With Foles unavailable, and Michael Vick (hamstring) aggravating his hamstring injury Sunday, it is possible Matt Barkley might be called upon for his first NFL start in Week 9 against the Oakland Raiders.

QB | Matthew Stafford | Detroit Lions | Fantasy
Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford became the fastest quarterback in NFL history to reach 15,000 yards, accomplishing the feat in Week 8 against the Dallas Cowboys, his 53rd career game.

QB | Robert Griffin III | Washington Redskins | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III (knee) suffered a left knee injury in the fourth quarter of the Week 8 game against the Denver Broncos, and he was replaced by QB Kirk Cousins. Griffin did not return to the game as a precaution.

QB | Michael Vick | Philadelphia Eagles | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick (hamstring) said Sunday, Oct. 27, that he felt something in his left hamstring "pop" in the first half of the Week 8 game against the New York Giants, which is why he left early and did not return. "I felt the same feeling that I had the first time," Vick said. "I don't think it's as bad, but it did pop again. I've never had a hamstring injury this bad." Vick will have an MRI Monday, Oct. 28.

QB | Matt Barkley | Philadelphia Eagles | Injury, Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly did not provide any updates on QB Nick Foles (concussion), but was asked if QB Matt Barkley could start in Week 9 if QB Michael Vick (hamstring) is not ready. "It could look that way," Kelly said.

If Barkley does indeed draw the start, he is not worth using in any fantasy leagues. He has been terrible when on the field, and you would have to have multiple quarterbacks on byes and no other options available to be desperate enough to start him.

QB | Peyton Manning | Denver Broncos | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, one of Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning's (ankles) ankle sprains has been diagnosed as a high ankle sprain, but it is not believed to be severe.

Running Back

RB | Andre Ellington | Arizona Cardinals | Injury, Fantasy
Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington rushed for 154 yards on 15 carries and scored an 80-yard touchdown in his team's 27-13 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, Oct. 27. Ellington was starting in place of injured RB Rashard Mendenhall.

You hate to see a starter lose his job due to injury, but the fact Ellington was this effective against Atlanta and got some praise from coach Bruce Arians afterward suggests a change might be coming. At the least, handcuff Ellington if you have Mendenhall or pick him up quickly off the waiver wire. Ellington could have a few more games like this before 2013 is done.

RB | Marshawn Lynch | Seattle Seahawks | Fantasy
The St. Louis Rams are 30th in the NFL defending the run, allowing 126.4 yards per game and 4.2 yards per attempt. RB Marshawn Lynch leads the Seattle Seahawks with 578 yards on 4.2 per carry; the Seahawks and Rams play on Monday, Oct. 28.

RB | Reggie Bush | Detroit Lions | Injury, Fantasy
Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush (shoulder) left the Week 8 game against the Dallas Cowboys briefly due to an apparent shoulder injury, but he was able to check back in and finish up. Bush ended up running for 92 yards on 21 carries with a touchdown, and he added eight receptions for 30 yards.

RB | DeMarco Murray | Dallas Cowboys | Injury, Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said Sunday, Oct. 27, that RB DeMarco Murray (knee) could have played in Week 8 against the Detroit Lions. "I think DeMarco Murray could have gone," Jones said. "I don't know what risk we would have taken with him, but he could have gone." RB Joseph Randle rushed for just 26 yards on 14 carries, and RB Lance Dunbar had 16 yards on five runs.

RB | Montee Ball | Denver Broncos | Fantasy
The Denver Broncos plan to spell RB Knowshon Moreno more and will use RBs Montee Ball and C.J. Anderson in a platoon.

Wide Receiver

WR | Mike Williams | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Injury, Fantasy
Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Williams (hamstring) is out of practice Monday, Oct. 28.

WR | Kyle Williams | San Francisco 49ers | Fantasy
San Francisco 49ers WR Kyle Williams fumbled the opening kickoff of the game, muffed a punt out of bounds and had two passes from QB Colin Kaepernick deflect off his hands. Williams caught just one pass for seven yards. When asked whether Williams' job was in jeopardy, coach Jim Harbaugh did not address the situation. "We don't want to take about controversy on who the returner is," Harbaugh said. "There's no returner controversy or anything like that."

WR | Victor Cruz | New York Giants | Fantasy
Updating a previous report, New York Giants WR Victor Cruz (stinger) said Sunday, Oct. 27, that he suffered a stinger in the Week 8 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. After having X-rays taken, he was able to return to the game and finish up. He ended up with 86 yards on seven receptions, and he was targeted 10 times.

WR | Calvin Johnson | Detroit Lions | Fantasy
Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson exploded for 329 receiving yards in Week 8 against the Dallas Cowboys. He now has five 200-yard receiving games in his career, matching former San Diego Chargers WR and Hall of Famer Lance Alworth for the most in NFL history.

WR | Ryan Broyles | Detroit Lions | Injury, Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Detroit Lions WR Jeremy Ross started at kick return in Week 8 against the Dallas Cowboys, and he finished as the punt return man, too, after WR Ryan Broyles (Achilles') left with a serious injury.

WR | Miles Austin | Dallas Cowboys | Injury, Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys WR Miles Austin (hamstring) was inactive again in Week 8, and his return date is uncertain. The team has discussed shutting him down until he is 100 percent.

The strong play of Dez Bryant, the maturation of Terrance Williams, and the emergence of secondary receiver Cole Beasley have made the loss of Austin less painful. If you're a fantasy owner of Austin, this type of thing isn't new. He is a tremendous talent, but he just cannot stay healthy. Do not cut bait yet, but if he isn't back in two weeks, and you need the roster spot, it might be time then.

WR | David Nelson | New York Jets | Injury, Fantasy
New York Jets WR David Nelson (hamstring) limped off in the Week 8 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, but he was able to return after a brief absence.

Nelson entered the game with a hamstring injury, but it is uncertain if he aggravated that injury or suffered a new nagging issue.

WR | Mohamed Sanu | Cincinnati Bengals | Injury, Fantasy
Cincinnati Bengals WR Mohamed Sanu (shoulder) left the Week 8 game against the New York Jets due to a shoulder injury. He had one grab for 24 yards before departing.

WR | Marvin Jones | Cincinnati Bengals | Fantasy
Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones set a franchise record with four touchdown receptions in the Week 8 game against the New York Jets. Jones finished with eight receptions for 122 yards and the four scores.

WR | Larry Fitzgerald | Arizona Cardinals | Fantasy
Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald caught the 800th pass of his career in the Week 8 game against the Atlanta Falcons. At 30 years and 57 days old, he is the youngest player in NFL history to reach the milestone.

WR | Dez Bryant | Dallas Cowboys | Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant was animated multiple times in the Week 8 game. He was seen shouting at TE Jason Witten near the end of the game.

WR | Brandon Gibson | Miami Dolphins | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, Miami Dolphins WR Brandon Gibson (knee) is likely will miss the rest of the season based on the initial diagnosis on his injured knee.

WR | Josh Gordon | Cleveland Browns | Fantasy
The Cleveland Browns are believed to be looking for at least a second-round draft choice in a trade for WR Josh Gordon. A trade involving Gordon is not expected to occur before the trade deadline.

WR | Hakeem Nicks | New York Giants | Fantasy
Updating a previous report, the New York Giants do not plan on trading WR Hakeem Nicks before the trade deadline. Some executives believe the Giants could get a third-round draft choice if they were willing to trade Nicks.

WR | Kenny Britt | Tennessee Titans | Fantasy
The Tennessee Titans are looking for acquire a third-round pick in a trade for WR Kenny Britt, but the asking price is expected to go down closer to the trade deadline.

Tight End

TE | Julius Thomas | Denver Broncos | Injury, Fantasy
Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) will have an MRI on his ankle and foot area Monday, Oct. 28.

TE | Jimmy Graham | New Orleans Saints | Injury, Fantasy
New Orleans Saints TE Jimmy Graham (foot) was a question mark all the way up until game-time in Week 8 against the Buffalo Bills. He was limited, but still managed three receptions for 37 yards and a pair of scores. "It's gonna hurt. But football hurts. That's just how it is," Graham said Sunday, Oct. 27. "It's just, 'How much pain can you endure?' And you know, I'm pretty good at that."

TE | Joseph Fauria | Detroit Lions | Fantasy
Detroit Lions TE Joseph Fauria went without a catch in Week 8 against the Dallas Cowboys, and he wasn't even targeted once in the game.

Fauria's struggles blocking led to a pair of blown assignment, and that curbed his playing time. He should be relied upon for fantasy purposes going forward.

TE | Jeff Cumberland | New York Jets | Injury, Fantasy
New York Jets TE Jeff Cumberland (head) left the Week 8 game against the Cincinnati Bengals due to a head injury.

The head injury explains why Cumberland ended up with just one catch, and two targets, for nine yards. Avoid him in Week 9.
