Will Hakeem Nicks be traded before the deadline?

QB | Jay Cutler | Chicago Bears | Injury, Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Chicago Bears QB Jay Cutler (groin) said he hopes to be back sooner than the four weeks the team originally thought. Head coach Marc Trestman had originally said Cutler would miss four weeks and then be week-to-week.

QB | Nick Foles | Philadelphia Eagles | Injury, Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (concussion) declared himself ready for the team's Week 9 game. "I am ready to play," Foles said. "It was a long week last week. The most important thing is to be healthy."

Lets see how this one plays out through the rest of the week, but this is a good sign for Foles to possibly return to the field in Week 9.

QB | Chad Henne | Jacksonville Jaguars | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Chad Henne will start in the team's Week 9 game, according to head coach Gus Bradley.

QB | Michael Vick | Philadelphia Eagles | Injury, Fantasy
Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick (hamstring) was on the field with his helmet Tuesday, Oct. 29, but he's not expected to play in Week 9 against the Oakland Raiders. Vick's hamstring injury isn't believed to be as serious as his original strain, according to league sources. He'll be evaluated on a weekly basis.

Vick will not play this weekend and may not be back for several weeks after that. Nick Foles (concussion) looks like he has a solid chance to return to the starting job against the Raiders after he practiced Tuesday. Foles is a decent bye week filler.

QB | EJ Manuel | Buffalo Bills | Injury, Fantasy
Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone said QB EJ Manuel (knee) will increase his football activities this week but is not sure if Manuel will be able practice this week.

QB | Robert Griffin III | Washington Redskins | Injury, Fantasy
Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said QB Robert Griffin III (knee) will receive treatment for his injured knee but should be ready for practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

Running Back

RB | Zac Stacy | St. Louis Rams | Injury, Fantasy
St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy (ankle) is dealing with a low ankle sprain.

Stacy dodged a bullet and should be able to play in Week 9 against the Tennessee Titans unless he suffers a setback in practice this week. Stacy, after a solid game against a tough Seattle Seahawks run defense, is the clear lead back in St. Louis and has become a weekly play.

RB | Maurice Jones-Drew | Jacksonville Jaguars | Fantasy
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew has been much more effective in the last four games, and he set season highs in rushing yards (75) and total yards (122) in the team's Week 8 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. He's been used more in the passing game recently, too, catching six passes for 47 yards against the 49ers. He entered the game with just 10 catches for 63 yards in the previous games. "The more you're in space the better you start to feel," Jones-Drew said. "The more you get in the open field you get a feel for guys and how they tackle. You're able to make those X-factor plays." He received his second highest carry total (19) of the year, and his 25 total touches was a season high.

MJD is on a bye this week, but if the Jaguars look to keep him more involved in their game plan, more good things could be on the horizon for him. Despite playing in an offense that doesn't score much, Jones-Drew is as close as it gets to a must-start.

RB | Arian Foster | Houston Texans | Injury, Fantasy
Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (hamstring) said Monday, Oct. 28, that he expects to practice this week. "Opened up pretty good (Monday)," Foster said. "So I expect to practice this week and push towards playing." Head coach Gary Kubiak added that a decision on Foster is likely to come later in the week after far as playing Sunday, Nov. 3, against the Indianapolis Colts.

RB | Ben Tate | Houston Texans | Injury, Fantasy
Houston Texans RB Ben Tate (ribs) said Monday, Oct. 28, that he plans to play in Week 9 against the Indianapolis Colts despite nursing four broken ribs. "Every day they get better and better," Tate said. "So I think by Sunday, I'll be fine."

If Tate draws the start, and Arian Foster (hamstring) is unable to go, Tate would be a solid low-end No. 2 RB or flex play in most fantasy leagues. If Foster is also able to play, consider Tate more of an RB3 or flex option in leagues of 12 or more teams.

RB | Andre Ellington | Arizona Cardinals | Fantasy
Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians was pleased with the performance of RB Andre Ellington in Week 8, but he noted that the rookie needs to improve his pass blocking if he wants "to stay out there."

Ellington has 7.74 yards per rush, which leads the NFL among rushers with at least 40 carries. Still, the head coach is taking it slow with Ellington, and he should still be considered as nothing more than a low-end RB2 or flex fantasy option in most leagues.

RB | David Wilson | New York Giants | Injury, Fantasy
The New York Giants could place RB David Wilson (neck) on Injured Reserve if his neck injury does not show much improvement.

RB | Peyton Hillis | New York Giants | Fantasy
The New York Giants likely will not release RB Peyton Hillis when RB Andre Brown (leg) is activated because he has been running the ball well and has been a good blocker and receiver in the passing game.

RB | Andre Brown | New York Giants | Injury, Fantasy
New York Giants RB Andre Brown (leg) said he feels great and expects to play after the team's Week 9 bye.

RB | Rashard Mendenhall | Arizona Cardinals | Injury, Fantasy
Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians indicated RB Rashard Mendenhall (toe) likely will retain his starting job once he is recovered from his toe injury.

RB | C.J. Spiller | Buffalo Bills | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills RB C.J. Spiller (ankle) has a chance to return in Week 9 to face the Kansas City Chiefs despite dealing with a high ankle sprain. He'll be evaluated this week, according to head coach Doug Marrone. Spiller had just six carries for 11 yards in Week 7.

High ankle sprains don't heal quickly, so this could be an injury that limits Spiller all season long. Don't expect him to be very effective if he returns this weekend, especially against a stout Kansas City Chiefs run defense.

Wide Receiver

WR | Hakeem Nicks | New York Giants | Fantasy
New York Giants general manager Jerry Reese would not rule out the possibility of trading WR Hakeem Nicks before the trade deadline. "We keep all of our options open," Reese said. "Hakeem played well this last game, but we always keep all of our options open. You never say never until 4 o'clock. So we'll see what happens."

WR | Kenny Britt | Tennessee Titans | Fantasy
Tennessee Titans WR Kenny Britt said he's open to a trade before the deadline Tuesday, Oct. 29. "It would be great to stay, as long as they're giving me opportunities that I should get, especially since I've been working hard and doing the right things out there," Britt said. "Going somewhere else and having a fresh start, it would be good also. But where my mind is right now is just probably staying here because everything is here -- my family is here and stuff like that." Britt has only eight catches in six games after losing his starting job a few weeks ago.

About the only thing that will raise Britt's fantasy value at the moment is a trade. Otherwise, he's basically just wasting away in Tennessee. Leave him to the waiver wire unless he's dealt, depending on where he goes.

WR | Percy Harvin | Seattle Seahawks | Injury, Fantasy
Seattle Seahawks WR Percy Harvin (hip) was on track to play in Week 8, but his hip flared up Thursday, Oct. 24.

Keep an eye on his practice availability this week. There's a chance he could play, but the team will be cautious with him.

WR | Dez Bryant | Dallas Cowboys | Fantasy
Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant said the footage of him appearing to argue with teammates was actually "all positive." NFL Films released some footage of sideline audio that showed Bryant and QB Tony Romo talking strategy.

WR | LaVon Brazill | Indianapolis Colts | Injury, Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano is uncertain who will step up as the team's No. 3 wide receiver behind WRs Darrius Heyward-Bey and T.Y. Hilton with WR Reggie Wayne (knee) done for the season. WRs LaVon Brazill and Griff Whalen are expected to battle for the job.

The winner of the No. 3 battle is still not a recommended fantasy option at this point. Brazill has speed to burn, and seems like he should be the favorite, but unless Heyward-Bey or Hilton also go down, don't waste the roster spot.

WR | Sidney Rice | Seattle Seahawks | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, Seattle Seahawks WR Sidney Rice (knee) injured his left knee in the first half of the Week 8 game against the St. Louis Rams Monday, Oct. 28, and he is doubtful to return.

WR | Santonio Holmes | New York Jets | Injury, Fantasy
The New York Jets are not very optimistic about WR Santonio Holmes' (hamstring) availability for their Week 9 game.

WR | Roddy White | Atlanta Falcons | Injury, Fantasy
Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith said WR Roddy White (ankle, hamstring) will continue to rehab his injuries, and the doctors will determine if he will be able to play Week 9.

Owners should monitor his practice participation this week to get a better idea of his status for Week 9.

WR | Stevie Johnson | Buffalo Bills | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills head coach Doug Marrone said WR Stevie Johnson (hip) and WR Marquise Goodwin (elbow) are expected to be limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

Tight End

TE | Jermichael Finley | Green Bay Packers | Injury, Fantasy
Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley (spine) doesn't think his injury is career-threatening. "Of course I plan to play football again," Finley wrote. "This is what I love to do. I love the game. I love Sundays. Based on the feedback I've received from doctors at this point, the question is not if I'll play again, but when." He will meet with more doctors this week before it's determined if he will have to be placed on the season-ending Injured Reserve. Finley's motor skills, coordination and balance are back to normal after he sustained a spinal cord contusion.

The chances of Finley returning to play this year seem remote. Drop him from your roster if you need the room.

TE | Tony Gonzalez | Atlanta Falcons | Fantasy
Atlanta Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez said he is open to a trade if the team wanted to deal him. "I love my guys on this team too much to go ask for a trade," Gonzalez said. "It would be something that would come from them where they said, 'Hey, it makes sense because we could get something good for you and send you to a team that's a contender.' So I understand the thought process behind that."

TE | Joseph Fauria | Detroit Lions | Fantasy
Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz said TE Joseph Fauria received only 15 snaps in the team's Week 8 game because the team was using more three-receiver sets during the game. "I think that everybody's role is going to change from week-to-week and things like that," Schwartz said. "We used a lot of three wide receiver personnel and it only keeps one tight end on the field. That's no reflection on him. He wasn't benched or deemphasized. We wanted to keep them in nickel packages and I thought our offense did a good job."

TE | Julius Thomas | Denver Broncos | Injury, Fantasy
Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) said the MRI on his injured ankle did not show a high ankle sprain.

TE | Jeff Cumberland | New York Jets | Injury, Fantasy
New York Jets TE Jeff Cumberland (concussion) is dealing with a mild concussion, according to a source. His status for Week 9 is unknown, but he's likely to play against the New Orleans Saints.

Cumberland's availability in Week 9 will depend on whether he can pass league-mandated concussions tests this week. Stay tuned. Cumberland is more of a short-term backup tight end or bye week filler.
