Quarterback

QB | Philip Rivers | San Diego Chargers | Fantasy
San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers has been able to trust WR Vincent Brown on contested catches this season. "I've thrown Vincent Brown a bunch of those balls," Rivers said. "It's trusting that he's going to come in there, and he's going to go up high and make a good, tough, catch." Brown is tied for third on the team with 26 catches this year.

Brown's precise route-running skills have endeared him to Rivers, and he's the QB's go-to guy when a tough catch is needed. Brown isn't putting up consistent numbers week in and week out, though, making him a frustrating lineup decision. He's more valuable in standard formats as a flex player.

QB | Russell Wilson | Seattle Seahawks | Injury, Fantasy
Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson suggested that he's already comfortable with WR Percy Harvin (hip) despite the fact that Harvin has yet to make his season debut. The two did some individual drills in practice last week. "I feel very comfortable with him already," Wilson said. "We talk about game stuff all the time. He's up here all the time just getting ready. So I think the biggest thing is just continuing to throw to him, continue to just do what it takes to have that chemistry."

Harvin should immediately become a focal point of the offensive game plan, especially now that Sidney Rice (knee) is done for the year. When Harvin returns is unknown, but it's expected to be soon. He should be owned in all leagues.

QB | Michael Vick | Philadelphia Eagles | Injury, Fantasy
Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 9 against the Oakland Raiders.

QB | Jay Cutler | Chicago Bears | Injury, Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman would not completely rule out QB Jay Cutler (groin) for the team's Week 9 game, but said it is highly unlikely that he plays.

QB | Nick Foles | Philadelphia Eagles | Injury, Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (concussion) declared himself ready for the team's Week 9 game. "I am ready to play," Foles said. "It was a long week last week. The most important thing is to be healthy."

Lets see how this one plays out through the rest of the week, but this is a good sign for Foles to possibly return to the field in Week 9.

QB | Chad Henne | Jacksonville Jaguars | Fantasy
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Chad Henne will remain the starter after the bye week and start in Week 10, according to head coach Gus Bradley.

QB | Matt Barkley | Philadelphia Eagles | Injury, Fantasy
Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (concussion) returned to practice Tuesday, Oct. 29. He and QB Matt Barkley are splitting repetitions.

Running Back

RB | Benny Cunningham | St. Louis Rams | Injury, Fantasy
St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said Tuesday, Oct. 29, there is "a pretty good chance" that RB Benny Cunningham (ankle) will return to practice this week.

RB | Andre Ellington | Arizona Cardinals | Fantasy
Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said Tuesday, Oct. 29, that he would like to get RB Andre Ellington more touches. Offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Harold Goodwin said he thinks the rookie Ellington is smart enough to handle a lot of carries, but he doesn't want to get Ellington beat up.

RB | Andre Brown | New York Giants | Injury, Fantasy
New York Giants RB Andre Brown (leg) is 100 percent healthy and recovered from his fractured left leg, but he said he will wear a protective shin guard "for the rest of my career." Head coach Tom Coughlin said he's "going to have to wait and see" when Brown will return. It's unclear if RBs Peyton Hillis and Brandon Jacobs will have a roster spot when Brown returns.

It appears as if Brown is much closer to returning than David Wilson (neck). Brown could return in Week 10. Grab him off the waiver wire now and stash him if he's still available.

RB | James Starks | Green Bay Packers | Fantasy
The Green Bay Packers would like to limit the burden on RB Eddie Lacy by giving RB James Starks more carries. Starks had seven rushes for 57 yards and a touchdown in Week 8 against the Minnesota Vikings in his first game back since suffering a partially torn medial collateral ligament in his knee last month. Lacy still finished the game with a season-high 29 carries for 94 yards and a score. "Eddie was in a groove so we stayed the way we did and obviously it worked out well," head coach Mike McCarthy said. "When James got his opportunity, I thought he jumped in there and made an impact. He was running hard, downhill, not wasting any steps. He had good reads. That's why the attempts and things like that, you look at it week to week. I would have liked to have James Starks get a few more carries."

Starks is now worth adding off the waiver wire for running back depth or as a handcuff to Lacy. The Packers are a different team these days after losing both Randall Cobb and Jermichael Finley. Look for them to run the ball more than ever, making Lacy a must-start and Starks an option in deep leagues.

RB | LaMichael James | San Francisco 49ers | Fantasy
San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh said he wants RB LaMichael James back in the mix at running back in the second half of the season.

RB | Zac Stacy | St. Louis Rams | Injury, Fantasy
St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy (ankle) is dealing with a low ankle sprain.

Stacy dodged a bullet and should be able to play in Week 9 against the Tennessee Titans unless he suffers a setback in practice this week. Stacy, after a solid game against a tough Seattle Seahawks run defense, is the clear lead back in St. Louis and has become a weekly play.

RB | Maurice Jones-Drew | Jacksonville Jaguars | Fantasy
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew has been much more effective in the last four games, and he set season highs in rushing yards (75) and total yards (122) in the team's Week 8 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. He's been used more in the passing game recently, too, catching six passes for 47 yards against the 49ers. He entered the game with just 10 catches for 63 yards in the previous games. "The more you're in space the better you start to feel," Jones-Drew said. "The more you get in the open field you get a feel for guys and how they tackle. You're able to make those X-factor plays." He received his second highest carry total (19) of the year, and his 25 total touches was a season high.

MJD is on a bye this week, but if the Jaguars look to keep him more involved in their game plan, more good things could be on the horizon for him. Despite playing in an offense that doesn't score much, Jones-Drew is as close as it gets to a must-start.

Wide Receiver

WR | Armanti Edwards | Cleveland Browns | Transaction, Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, the Cleveland Browns added WR Armanti Edwards Tuesday, Oct. 29. Head coach Rob Chudzinski is familiar with Edwards from his time as the offensive coordinator with the Carolina Panthers.

Edwards isn't likely to be much of a factor in the passing game, but he does fill a need in the kick return game with Travis Benjamin (knee) done for the season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. The loss of Benjamin also hurts the fantasy appeal of the Browns DST in standard leagues, as Benjamin was a dynamic player with a chance to take it to the house each time he touched the ball.

WR | Tori Gurley | Cleveland Browns | Transaction, Fantasy
The Cleveland Browns re-signed WR Tori Gurley (Browns) Tuesday, Oct. 29.

WR | Dez Bryant | Dallas Cowboys | Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten and WR Dez Bryant have no animosity between each other after getting into a shouting match on the sidelines in Week 8. "There's nobody I love playing with more on Sundays than Dez," Witten said.

WR | Vincent Brown | San Diego Chargers | Fantasy

WR | Percy Harvin | Seattle Seahawks | Injury, Fantasy

WR | Robert Woods | Buffalo Bills | Fantasy
Buffalo Bills rookie WR Robert Woods developed some nice chemistry with QB EJ Manuel early in the season, but his production has dropped since QB Thaddeus Lewis has taken over for the injured Manuel. "I think his production numbers are down," head coach Doug Marrone said. "But not his playing time. He's playing more than anybody." Woods has played in 565 of the team's 592 offensive snaps this year. Marrone suggested that opposing defenses may be paying more attention to Woods now.

A drop in production was expected going from Manuel to Lewis throwing Woods the football. If the team targets Woods more often going forward, as he suggests, his production could be back on the rise. However, for now, consider Woods more of a flex play in deeper leagues.

WR | Markus Wheaton | Pittsburgh Steelers | Injury, Fantasy
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Markus Wheaton (pinkie) has not been ruled out from returning to face the New England Patriots in Week 9 after rehabbing from a broken pinkie finger.

WR | Travis Benjamin | Cleveland Browns | Injury, Transaction, Fantasy
The Cleveland Browns placed WR Travis Benjamin (knee) on the season-ending Injured Reserve list Tuesday, Oct. 29.

WR | Sidney Rice | Seattle Seahawks | Injury, Fantasy
Seattle Seahawks WR Sidney Rice (knee) has a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee, according to a source.

This hasn't been confirmed yet, but if it's true, you can drop Rice in all formats. In the short term, Golden Tate and Doug Baldwin will see more looks until Percy Harvin (hip) is back in game action, which could be soon.

WR | Mohamed Sanu | Cincinnati Bengals | Injury, Fantasy
Cincinnati Bengals WR Mohamed Sanu (shoulder) missed his second straight day of practice Tuesday, Oct. 29. If he can't play in the team's Week 9 game Thursday, Oct. 31, against the Miami Dolphins, then WR Marvin Jones will replace him in two-receiver sets with WR Dane Sanzenbacher taking some snaps out of the slot position. WR Andrew Hawkins, who's expected to be activated to the active roster before the game, is another option.

Sanu figures to be a weak play coming off injury on a short week. Jones, after his four-touchdown performance last weekend, is likely to be the hottest waiver wire commodity. Jones' snaps have been limited to mostly red zone duties, but he'll see more work if Sanu misses the game.

WR | Brandon Gibson | Miami Dolphins | Injury, Transaction, Fantasy
The Miami Dolphins placed WR Brandon Gibson (knee) on the season-ending Injured Reserve Tuesday, Oct. 29. He had 30 catches for 326 yards and three touchdowns this season.

WR | Dexter McCluster | Kansas City Chiefs | Fantasy
Kansas City Chiefs WR Dexter McCluster had a team-high seven catches for 67 yards and a touchdown in the team's Week 8 win over the Cleveland Brown. He also had one rush for five yards. "As a player, you never know when it's going to be your day," said McCluster, who was targeted by QB Alex Smith a team-high 10 times. "You just have to be there when it's time. I was able to get started early and get some balls early." His 13 touches were a season high, and the team has been looking for someone to step up and help lighten the workload for RB Jamaal Charles. Smith thinks the team will use McCluster more in the second half of the season.

With Dwayne Bowe being limited with an injury, McCluster stepped up last Sunday. Bowe has been a disappointment, and McCluster's jack-of-all-trades versatility could make him a valuable asset down the stretch, especially in point-per-reception leagues. Consider adding him as receiver depth in deeper formats.

Tight End

TE | Jason Witten | Dallas Cowboys | Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten and WR Dez Bryant have no animosity between each other after getting into a shouting match on the sidelines in Week 8. "There's nobody I love playing with more on Sundays than Dez," Witten said.

TE | Jermichael Finley | Green Bay Packers | Injury, Fantasy
Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley (spine) doesn't think his injury is career-threatening. "Of course I plan to play football again," Finley wrote. "This is what I love to do. I love the game. I love Sundays. Based on the feedback I've received from doctors at this point, the question is not if I'll play again, but when." He will meet with more doctors this week before it's determined if he will have to be placed on the season-ending Injured Reserve. Finley's motor skills, coordination and balance are back to normal after he sustained a spinal cord contusion.

The chances of Finley returning to play this year seem remote. Drop him from your roster if you need the room.
