Quarterback

QB | Thaddeus Lewis | Buffalo Bills | Injury, Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Updating a previous item, Buffalo Bills coach Doug Marrone said QB Thaddeus Lewis' (ribs) chances of returning to practice this week are 50-50, which would seem to indicate his chances of playing are in serious jeopardy. Marrone said that right now, if Lewis can't play, QB Jeff Tuel would probably be the starter, but only because he's been here longer than QB Matt Flynn. Flynn, however, does have NFL experience, so Marrone could also opt to go that way and disregard Tuel's advantage in regards to knowing the offense.

This QB situation is a mess. If you have backups, it is best to avoid the Bills altogether against Kansas City. If you are counting on Buffalo to help, be advised this decision could go down to the wire.

QB | Josh Freeman | Minnesota Vikings | Injury, Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, the Minnesota Vikings have not announced a starting quarterback for Week 9, but ESPN's Ed Werder expects that the team will turn to QB Josh Freeman (concussion) again after QB Christian Ponder was unimpressive in place of Freeman in Week 8.

QB | Sam Bradford | St. Louis Rams | Injury, Fantasy
St. Louis Rams QB Sam Bradford (knee) said he's set to have surgery on the torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee but waited two weeks for the swelling in his knee to go down. He will have his knee fixed Tuesday, Nov. 5, and the procedure will be performed by Dr. James Andrews. "I'm not expecting it to be easy," Bradford said. "I know it's going to be tough, but I'm going to do everything I can to get better every day. The best thing to do is just take it day by day and try to get better every day and in the end, when I'm ready to go, I'll be ready to go." Bradford won't put a timetable on his return, but the good news is that he has a clean tear of his ACL, which he said should make his recovery quicker.

QB | Michael Vick | Philadelphia Eagles | Injury, Fantasy
Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick's (hamstring) second hamstring injury is not as bad as the first injury he suffered earlier in the season. Vick will likely be held out until he is completely healthy.

QB | Nick Foles | Philadelphia Eagles | Injury, Fantasy
Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles (concussion) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

QB | Brian Hoyer | Cleveland Browns | Injury, Fantasy
Cleveland Browns QB Brian Hoyer (knee) is ready to attack his rehab from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, and he might be able to take part in offseason work if he can recover quickly enough. "I'm really positive," Hoyer said. "I think that's the only way to be. Every day I'm getting better."

QB | Matt Barkley | Philadelphia Eagles | Injury, Fantasy
The Philadelphia Eagles have named QB Nick Foles (concussion) as the starting quarterback in Week 9 against the Oakland Raiders. QB Matt Barkley will serve as the backup. QB Michael Vick (hamstring) will not practice this week and won't be available Sunday, Nov. 3. "One of the good things about practicing on Tuesday is you can get your eyes on people who have been out. Nick did a really good job and Nick will be our starting quarterback this week," head coach Chip Kelly said. Kelly also said he'll make a determination on the quarterback position on a weekly basis moving forward.

Foles makes for a low-end QB1 this weekend mainly as a bye week filler or if you own Vick. The QB situation in Philly will likely come down to who is the healthiest over the next few weeks. Foles should see at least a few more starts with Vick out.

Running Back

RB | Zac Stacy | St. Louis Rams | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy (foot) was on the practice field Wednesday, Oct. 30, but his work was very limited. Officially, he was listed as having not even practiced, but he did suit up and take the field.

It was a good sign that Stacy was able to do anything, and he still has two full practice days to go until the official injury report comes out. He is sounding like he will be questionable for the upcoming week, but we'll know more Friday. If you normally rely on him for fantasy purposes, it's a good idea to start getting alternates ready just in case.

RB | Shonn Greene | Tennessee Titans | Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak said Wednesday, Oct. 30, that ideally he would like to get 20 carries for RB Chris Johnson, while getting RB Shonn Greene 15 carries.

RB | Marshawn Lynch | Seattle Seahawks | Injury, Fantasy
Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch (knee) did not practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

It is usually standard for Lynch to sit during mid-week practices before ramping up the intensity before the weekend. If you're a fantasy owner, you know the routine by now.

RB | Jamaal Charles | Kansas City Chiefs | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (knee) did not participant in practice Wednesday, Oct. 30, as expected.

RB | Doug Martin | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Injury, Fantasy
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (shoulder) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

RB | DeMarco Murray | Dallas Cowboys | Injury, Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys WR Miles Austin (hamstring), CB Morris Claiborne (hamstring), LB DeVonte Holloman (neck), S Danny McCray (hip, toe), DE DeMarcus Ware (thigh) and S J.J. Wilcox (knee) did not practice Wednesday, Oct. 30. SS Barry Church (hamstring) and DT Jason Hatcher (neck) were limited. RB Lance Dunbar (hamstring), WR Dwayne Harris (hip), RB DeMarco Murray (knee) and DE George Selvie (shoulder) practiced in full.

RB | Arian Foster | Houston Texans | Injury, Fantasy
Houston Texans LB Darryl Sharpton (foot, toe) and OG Wade Smith (knee) did not practice Wednesday, Oct. 30. RBs Arian Foster (hamstring) and Ben Tate (ribs) were both limited. OG Brandon Brooks (toe), OT Duane Brown (toe), WR Keshawn Martin (shoulder), CB Brice McCain (knee), DT Earl Mitchell (knee), OT Derek Newton (knee, elbow), S Eddie Pleasant (toe), WR DeVier Posey (calf) and QB Matt Schaub (ankle) practiced in full.

RB | Willis McGahee | Cleveland Browns | Injury, Fantasy
Cleveland Browns LB Quentin Groves (ankle) and DE Billy Winn (quadriceps) were limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 30. RB Willis McGahee (knee), RB Chris Ogbonnaya (ribs), CB Christopher Owens (finger) and LB Jabaal Sheard (wrist) practiced in full.

Expect both McGahee and Ogbonnaya to suit up in Week 9 against the Baltimore Ravens. However, both running backs are weak fantasy plays, especially against a tough Ravens run defense. McGahee's age is starting to show, and Fozzy Whittaker's opportunities are going up.

RB | Montell Owens | Detroit Lions | Injury, Transaction, Fantasy
The Detroit Lions placed WR Ryan Broyles (Achilles') on the season-ending Injured Reserve Wednesday, Oct. 30, and activated RB Montell Owens (knee) from the short-term Injured Reserve in a corresponding move.

RB | Jonathan Stewart | Carolina Panthers | Injury, Fantasy
Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (ankles), who is still currently on the Physically Unable to Perform list, looked and felt great in practice Wednesday, Oct. 30, and the team expects him to be active in Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons. "I feel ready," Stewart said. "Today was a good step forward putting the pads on. It felt good going out there and hitting the field full speed with some contact and running plays with contact."

Stewart had the majority of snaps in practice with RB DeAngelo Williams (quadriceps) being held out for precautionary reasons. Head coach Ron Rivera continues to say that Williams will remain the starter and that RB Mike Tolbert will continue to see touches. "We can't force things," Rivera said. "We can't. What we've got to do is Mike (Shula, offensive coordinator) has to continue to call his game the way he wants to call it, and at the end of the day when you get your opportunity make the best of it."

The three-headed monster in Carolina is back. Even though Williams and Tolbert will continue to see their touches, Stewart's return will make them less attractive, especially after a few weeks when he has his legs under him in game situations. DAW is more of an RB3 now with Tolbert and J-Stew representing RB depth for your fantasy squad.

RB | C.J. Spiller | Buffalo Bills | Injury, Fantasy
Buffalo Bills QB Thad Lewis (ribs), RB Fred Jackson (knee), DT Kyle D. Williams (Achilles) and WR Stevie Johnson (hip) all did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 30. QB EJ Manuel (knee), RB C.J. Spiller (ankle), WR Marquise Goodwin (elbow), LB Manny Lawson (hamstring) and OL Kraig Urbik (knee) all were limited in practice.

Wide Receiver

WR | Rishard Matthews | Miami Dolphins | Injury, Depth Chart Tidbit, Fantasy
A replacement for Miami Dolphins WR Brandon Gibson (knee) is likely to come from the practice squad, since the Dolphins worked out several wide receivers and elected not to sign any. WR's Ryan Spadola and Nathan Palmer are the likely options. In addition, the Dolphins probably will use a combination of Rishard Matthews and Marcus Thigpen to fill Gibson's spot.

WR | Santonio Holmes | New York Jets | Injury, Fantasy
Updating a previous report, New York Jets WR Santonio Holmes (hamstring) is still unlikely to play in Week 9. The team has a bye in Week 10, and the expected scenario is for Holmes to return in Week 11 against the Buffalo Bills. "I still don't know. At this point, I was only able to do individuals. I'm pretty sure once things get rolling and I'm able to practice, that's when I'll be able to play," Holmes said Wednesday, Oct. 30.

WR | Dwayne Bowe | Kansas City Chiefs | Injury, Fantasy
Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe (groin) was able to take part in a full practice session Wednesday, Oct. 30.

WR | Greg Jennings | Minnesota Vikings | Injury, Fantasy
Minnesota Vikings WR Greg Jennings (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

WR | Miles Austin | Dallas Cowboys | Injury, Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys WR Miles Austin (hamstring), CB Morris Claiborne (hamstring), LB DeVonte Holloman (neck), S Danny McCray (hip, toe), DE DeMarcus Ware (thigh) and S J.J. Wilcox (knee) did not practice Wednesday, Oct. 30. SS Barry Church (hamstring) and DT Jason Hatcher (neck) were limited. RB Lance Dunbar (hamstring), WR Dwayne Harris (hip), RB DeMarco Murray (knee) and DE George Selvie (shoulder) practiced in full.

WR | Leonard Hankerson | Washington Redskins | Injury, Fantasy
Washington Redskins WR Leonard Hankerson (foot) practiced in full Wednesday, Oct. 30.

Hankerson will be fine for this weekend against the San Diego Chargers. However, his production is inconsistent on a weekly basis. Consider him no more than a flex option, although his matchup this weekend is peachy.

WR | Pierre Garcon | Washington Redskins | Injury, Fantasy
Washington Redskins S Jose Gumbs (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, Oct. 30. WR Pierre Garcon (calf) was limited. DE Stephen Bowen (shoulder, knee), FS Reed Doughty (concussion), QB Robert Griffin III (knee), WR Leonard Hankerson (foot), DT Chris Neild (calf), TE Logan Paulsen (knee) and RB Chris Thompson (shoulder) practiced in full.

WR | Eddie Royal | San Diego Chargers | Injury, Fantasy
San Diego Chargers LB Donald Butler (groin), OG Mike Remmers (ankle) and WR Eddie Royal (foot) all did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 30. OG Chad Rinehart (toe) was limited in practice.

WR | Ryan Broyles | Detroit Lions | Injury, Transaction, Fantasy
The Detroit Lions placed WR Ryan Broyles (Achilles') on the season-ending Injured Reserve Wednesday, Oct. 30, and activated RB Montell Owens (knee) from the short-term Injured Reserve in a corresponding move.

WR | Julian Edelman | New England Patriots | Injury, Fantasy
New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (thigh) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

WR | Danny Amendola | New England Patriots | Injury, Fantasy
New England Patriots WR Danny Amendola (groin) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

WR | Marques Colston | New Orleans Saints | Injury, Fantasy
New Orleans Saints WR Marques Colston (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

Obviously something to keep an eye on, but there is nothing to suggest that Colston will not be available in the team's Week 9 game.

WR | Sidney Rice | Seattle Seahawks | Injury, Fantasy
The Seattle Seahawks placed WR Sidney Rice (knee) on injured reserve Wednesday, Oct. 30. In a corresponding move, the team promoted WR Ricardo Lockette from the practice squad to the active roster.

WR | Roddy White | Atlanta Falcons | Injury, Fantasy
Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (ankle, hamstring) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

WR | Stevie Johnson | Buffalo Bills | Injury, Fantasy
Buffalo Bills QB Thad Lewis (ribs), RB Fred Jackson (knee), DT Kyle D. Williams (Achilles) and WR Stevie Johnson (hip) all did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 30. QB EJ Manuel (knee), RB C.J. Spiller (ankle), WR Marquise Goodwin (elbow), LB Manny Lawson (hamstring) and OL Kraig Urbik (knee) all were limited in practice.

WR | Larry Fitzgerald | Arizona Cardinals | Injury, Fantasy
Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

The Cardinals are on bye this week and Arizona is trying to rest Fitz up so he can return at full strength in Week 10.

WR | Mohamed Sanu | Cincinnati Bengals | Injury, Fantasy
Cincinnati Bengals WR Mohamed Sanu (shoulder) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 30, and is listed as questionable for Week 9.

Owners will have to wait for the inactive list before finding out if Sanu will play in the game. If he does play, he probably would be a risky flex play in deeper leagues.

WR | DeSean Jackson | Philadelphia Eagles | Injury, Fantasy
Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson (ankle) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

It appears Jackson is on track to play Week 9 despite his injury. He should be considered a starter in all fantasy leagues this week.

Tight End

TE | Fred Davis | Washington Redskins | Fantasy
Washington Redskins TE Fred Davis believes he's lost playing time to TE Jordan Reed for financial purposes. Davis has a $500,000 clause in his contract that is tied to the number of games he's active, and he's been listed as inactive three times this year, twice when healthy. Head coach Mike Shanahan denies that is a reason for the team straying from using Davis. TE Logan Paulsen, who is the team's best blocker, is even ahead of Davis on the tight end depth chart. "I like it here. I was drafted here," Davis said. "But at the end of the day, I just want to play. If I can't play here, then I did want to play somewhere else." Shanahan cites Davis' poor work ethic as one of the reasons he's lost playing time.

At this point, chances are extremely remote that Davis works his way back into enough playing time to be considered in fantasy circles. Reed looks like a much more physical and dynamic pass-catching tight end.

TE | Rob Gronkowski | New England Patriots | Injury, Fantasy
New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (back, forearm, hamstring) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

TE | Jimmy Graham | New Orleans Saints | Injury, Fantasy
New Orleans Saints TE Jimmy Graham (foot) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 30.

At this point, there is nothing to suggest Graham will not play. If he starts, you must get him in your lineups.

TE | Heath Miller | Pittsburgh Steelers | Injury, Fantasy
Pittsburgh Steelers CB Curtis Brown (non-injury), OG David DeCastro (ankle), DT Steve McClendon (illness) and WR Markus Wheaton (finger) did not practice Wednesday, Oct. 30. OG Ramon Foster (concussion), TE Heath Miller (non-injury) and QB Ben Roethlisberger (non-injury) were limited. LB Lawrence Timmons (hand) and OT Guy Whimper (knee) practiced in full.

Both Big Ben and Miller were being rested Wednesday and should be fully ready to suit up in Week 9 against the New England Patriots. Both are rather weak plays, however, unless you're in need of bye week or injury replacements at their respective positions.

Place Kicker

PK | Blair Walsh | Minnesota Vikings | Injury, Fantasy
Minnesota Vikings RB Matt Asiata (shoulder), CB Chris Cook (hip), TE Rhett Ellison (ankle), DT Fred Evans (knee), WR Greg Jennings (knee) and S Jamarca Sanford (groin) all did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 30. LB Chad Greenway (wrist), CB A.J. Jefferson (ankle), WR Rodney Smith (hip), K Blair Walsh (left hamstring), DT Kevin Williams (knee) all fully participated in practice.
