Fantasy Football: Will Robert Griffin be worth his price?

Griffin still has upside

I've had my eye on Robert Griffin III ever since last season ended - I'm always looking for rebound candidates.

I didn't want any part of him last year coming off that serious knee injury. He didn't have a full offseason to work on improving his game or to develop chemistry with his receivers. He was also entering that dreaded sophomore season.

So far in organized team activites, so good:

I expect RG3 to be fully healthy this year. And the fact that he'll have the whole offseason to work with his wideouts, including his new toy DeSean Jackson, should have him ready to roll in Week 1 at a high level. The extra preparation will be helpful as he adapts to an all new coaching staff, too.

Unfortunately, the rest of drafters probably feel similarly about Griffin in 2014. After all, he had three more yards passing and only four less passing TDs in two less games last year compared to his awesome rookie campaign. The biggest discrepancy was in the interception department, where he threw seven more picks in his sophomore slump.

If the situation presents itself, though, I'd probably be willing to pay his high price as my QB1. The way I see it, I can grab several sturdy running backs as my base early on. Wide receiver remains a very deep position these days, and tight end, after the first few big names, is rather uninspiring all the way around - you can wait there.

There's a chance that Griffin could slip into the sixth round right after Andrew Luck and Matthew Stafford come off the board. In that scenario, I'm pulling the trigger 99.9 percent of the time.
