The Associated Press reports Carolina Panthers QB Jake Delhomme (elbow) successfully upgraded to a brown nerf ball that is heavier than the blue-and-green ball he started throwing a week ago. "It feels great," Delhomme said after a rehab session this week. "Honestly, I feel absolutely great. I have no pain whatsoever." Delhomme underwent elbow surgery Oct. 18.

Mike Preston, of the Baltimore Sun, reports Baltimore Ravens QB Steve McNair (shoulder) is focused on getting completely healthy and returning as the team's starting quarterback for 2008. "Being a competitor, I understand that people are always going to put something, some name out there," McNair said in response to speculation about his possible retirement and that the Ravens might trade for Philadelphia Eagles QB Donovan McNabb. "I'm not into speculation, I'm into reality. If it happens, then I'll deal with it. But as of right now, my only focus is getting my shoulder ready for the season. I have confidence in myself and in my teammates. If I didn't, I would not come back." McNair's injured shoulder is almost 100 percent healthy, and he has nearly full range of motion.

Casey Pearce, of Chargers.com, reports San Diego Chargers QB Philip Rivers (knee) is making good progress after undergoing knee surgery January 23. Three days after his surgery, Rivers replaced his crutches with a heavy brace on his right knee. Rivers says he feels fine and is optimistic that he may be able to participate in drills before the team's training camp in July.

FOXSports.com reports the Washington Redskins received some salary cap relief Thursday, Feb. 14, by restructuring TE Chris Cooley's contract. The Redskins converted an $11 million roster bonus Cooley was scheduled to receive into guaranteed money. The move could lower Cooley's 2008 cap number from a team-high $12.2 million to $4.4 million.

Aaron Wilson, of the Carroll County Times, reports Baltimore Ravens TE Todd Heap restructured his contract Wednesday, Feb. 13, to help the team gain salary cap relief. Heap was scheduled to make $3 million next season, but will now make $730,000 and will receive $2.27 million in a form of a bonus over the course of his contract. The restructuring frees up around $1,702,500 in cap space.

Harris will earn about $3 million per year under the terms of the extension. He is expected to earn about $5.5 million to $6 million in the first two years.
