Contrary to a previous item, Ed Werder, of ESPN.com, reports free-agent QB Brett Favre (Jets) does not have an appointment with Dr. James Andrews Tuesday, May 19, and doesn't consider surgery on his partially torn biceps tendon to be imminent, according to a source. Favre remains focused on non-surgical options, including cortisone injections and natural movements like light throwing and bicep curls that might cause the tendon to release naturally, the source said. If the tendon releases and the pain subsides, Favre is virtually certain to play again. If he has surgery and his arm strength diminishes or the pain remains, he will remain retired.

He did not show for the team's first day of voluntary minicamp Tuesday, May 19, because there has not been any meaningful dialogue on a new deal. His agent, J.R. Rickert, said the two sides had not made any progress as of Tuesday evening. Rickert said the Browns told him they may be willing to open discussions Tuesday. He also said the Browns have indicated they may not want to renegotiate Cribbs' contract. He has four years remaining on his deal.
