1B | Allen Craig | St. Louis Cardinals | Injury, Fantasy
St. Louis Cardinals 1B Allen Craig (foot) could return to the team as a designated hitter if they advance to the World Series, according to general manager John Mozeliak. Craig has been cleared for increased baseball activities, and Dr. Robert Anderson "believes we're at the point where we can start pushing this, and so is Allen," Mozeliak said. Craig has been hitting off a tee and took batting practice indoors Saturday, Oct. 12, and also played catch. "It's still a day-by-day thing," Mozeliak said. "We'll just see how this progresses. Every day is a new test. If he keeps passing, we'll keep pushing."
SS | Hanley Ramirez | Los Angeles Dodgers | Injury, Fantasy
Los Angeles Dodgers SS Hanley Ramirez (rib) said he likely wouldn't have been playing Monday, Oct. 14, if the team wasn't down two games to none in the National League Championship Series against the St. Louis Cardinals. He was given painkillers and will wear padding around his ribs similar to what NFL running backs use. "You can say you should play through it or whatever, but it's easier said than done when you're trying to stop on a Trevor Rosenthal 99-mph fastball that turns into a cutter and your rib is cracked," manager Don Mattingly said. "That's not an easy thing, but we'll see what Hanley wants to do. He has constantly said he's vowed to play, but that's just a different thing."

Hudson went 8-7 with a 3.97 ERA in 21 starts this year before suffering a season-ending ankle injury July 24.
