Fantasy Football Daily Rundown: Wednesday, Nov. 20

by KFFL Staff on November 20, 2013 @ 11:01:27 PDT

QB | John Skelton | Tennessee Titans | Fantasy
Tennessee Titans QB John Skelton will serve as the team's No. 3 quarterback behind QBs Ryan Fitzpatrick and Rusty Smith. Skelton isn't expected to be active in Week 12 against the Oakland Raiders. "We thought we had a need just because of the way quarterbacks get hurt," head coach Mike Munchak said. "Rusty will go in if anything happens to Fitz, but this allows us to have somebody else here learning our offense in case we have another injury." The Titans would likely run a wildcat offense with RBs Chris Johnson and Shonn Greene taking snaps if both Fitzpatrick and Smith are injured.

QB | Christian Ponder | Minnesota Vikings | Fantasy
Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said QB Christian Ponder will be the starting quarterback Week 12. Frazier said QB Matt Cassel likely will be the No. 2 quarterback, but QB Josh Freeman could also be active for the game.

The Green Bay Packers present a better opportunity for Ponder to succeed, and he's familiar with them, but it's still best to stay away from him unless you're desperate in leagues where you start two QBs.

QB | Sam Bradford | St. Louis Rams | Injury, Fantasy
St. Louis Rams QB Sam Bradford (knee) had surgery to repair the torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. "He said everything went very, very well," Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said. "It's a very, very healthy knee considering the circumstances and so they were pleased."

QB | Aaron Rodgers | Green Bay Packers | Injury, Fantasy
Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) is throwing without any pain in his collarbone, and he was seen tossing the ball around before the team's Week 11 game. He isn't experiencing pain while running either, but has yet to take any snaps. "I think the biggest issue is not the pain at this point," Rodgers said. "It is the risk of taking a shot like that and what it would do if (the collarbone) displaced. Obviously, I'd be out for the season and worried about any type of complications going forward." QB Scott Tolzien has already been named the starter in Week 12 against the Minnesota Vikings.

It looks like Rodgers is progressing, but he still has a ways to go. There's a chance he could return for the team's Thanksgiving game next week, depending on how he gets through practices leading up to that contest. Continue to be patient.

QB | Andy Dalton | Cincinnati Bengals | Fantasy
Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton is confident in the midst of a rough three-game stretch. "I'm confident as ever," Dalton said. "You have to have confidence. For us, as a team, we feel like we're in control of everything and that's where we want to be at this point." He had three touchdowns against the Cleveland Browns in Week 11 but compiled just 93 yards passing for a 48.1 percent completion rating, a 62.7 passer rating and a career-low 3.7 QBR rating. Dalton has tossed at least one interception in his last four games, including eight in his last three.

Dalton has shown signs of taking the next step this year, only to take two steps back. With the right matchup, he's a midrange QB1, but he's better left as a capable backup in your fantasy leagues.

QB | Michael Vick | Philadelphia Eagles | Injury, Fantasy
Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick (hamstring) said he expects to be fully healthy following the team's Week 12 bye. He was limited in practice Tuesday, Nov. 19.

Vick isn't guaranteed to get the starting QB job back if he's healthy, however, based on the way Nick Foles has played in his absence. Leave Vick on your bench or send him to the waiver wire if you need an extra spot.

QB | Matt McGloin | Oakland Raiders | Injury, Fantasy
Oakland Raiders head coach Dennis Allen said he hasn't decided if QB Matt McGloin will receive his second straight start over QB Terrelle Pryor (knee). McGloin was 18-for-32 for 197 yards and three touchdowns in the Week 11 win over the Houston Texans. Allen will gauge Pryor's health this week before making a decision.

Running Back

RB | Adrian Peterson | Minnesota Vikings | Injury, Fantasy
Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said he is cautiously optimistic about RB Adrian Peterson (groin) being able to play Week 12.

RB | Joique Bell | Detroit Lions | Injury, Fantasy
Detroit Lions RB Joique Bell (ankle) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Nov. 20.

RB | Marcus Lattimore | San Francisco 49ers | Injury, Fantasy
The San Francisco 49ers triggered a three-week window Tuesday, Nov. 19, for RB Marcus Lattimore (knee) to begin practicing with the team. Despite his eligibility to practice, Lattimore is not expected to be added to the 53-man roster at the end of the three-week practice period, and he remains on the non-football injury list.

RB | Darren Sproles | New Orleans Saints | Injury, Fantasy
New Orleans Saints RB Darren Sproles (knee, ankle) did not practice Tuesday, Nov. 19.

Sproles returned to the Week 11 game after being injured, so we think it's safe to guess that his injuries aren't deemed serious enough to keep him out Thursday night against the Atlanta Falcons. Keep him in your lineup.

RB | Reggie Bush | Detroit Lions | Fantasy
Detroit Lions RB Reggie Bush disagreed with head coach Jim Schwartz and thinks that he is a running back that can perform well in all conditions. "I pride myself on being able to run in all conditions, you know what I mean, and I think the opposite," Bush said. "I think running in those types of conditions is, for me, I think is better because now the defenders have to be constantly on their heels and toes and we can get guys off-balanced in mud and when it's rainy and slippery, it's kind of an advantage to the running back." However, he agreed that he didn't play well in adverse conditions in Week 11 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

FB | Marcel Reece | Oakland Raiders | Fantasy
Oakland Raiders FB Marcel Reece became a focal point of the offense in the team's Week 11 victory over the Houston Texans after averaging just three touches in the first nine games of the year. Reece ran the ball four times for six yards and caught two passes for 17 yards.

Reece's additional playing time was likely due to Darren McFadden's (hamstring) absence. With DMC uncertain again this week, Reece could see a similar workload, but probably not enough to warrant a starting spot in your lineup.

Wide Receiver

WR | Wes Welker | Denver Broncos | Injury, Fantasy
Denver Broncos WR Wes Welker (concussion) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Nov. 20.

WR | Miles Austin | Dallas Cowboys | Injury, Fantasy
Dallas Cowboys WR Miles Austin (hamstring) is participating in practice Wednesday, Nov. 20.

WR | Justin Hunter | Tennessee Titans | Injury, Fantasy
Tennessee Titans WR Justin Hunter (concussion) has yet to be cleared to return to practice.

This isn't good news for his availability this weekend. The Titans have a great matchup against the Oakland Raiders, but you'll need to leave Hunter on your bench.

WR | Santonio Holmes | New York Jets | Injury, Fantasy
New York Jets WR Santonio Holmes (hamstring) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Nov. 20. It is not known if he is getting a day off or if he aggravated his hamstring injury.

WR | Hakeem Nicks | New York Giants | Injury, Fantasy
New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks (undisclosed) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Nov. 20.

WR | Jeremy Kerley | New York Jets | Injury, Fantasy
New York Jets WR Jeremy Kerley (elbow) is participating in individual drills during practice Wednesday, Nov. 20, but is catching passes with only his right arm. Kerley is wearing a no-contact jersey during practice and appears to have a brace on his left elbow.

WR | Calvin Johnson | Detroit Lions | Injury, Fantasy
Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson (knee) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Nov. 20, but is likely getting a day off.

WR | Santana Moss | Washington Redskins | Fantasy
Washington Redskins WR Santana Moss took exception to comments made by QB Robert Griffin III about the final play of the Week 11 game against the Philadelphia Eagles, and his failure to take responsibility. "As a leader, you understand that if you're involved in the situation, whether you're the receiver, the quarterback, the guys making the tackle, whoever. Regardless of the outcome, good or bad, you have to at some point, stand up and say me or I," Moss said in a radio interview Tuesday, Nov. 19.

WR | Mike Wallace | Miami Dolphins | Fantasy
Miami Dolphins WR Mike Wallace said Tuesday, Nov. 19, that he could be "a lot better," and that he has had disappointing chemistry with QB Ryan Tannehill so far. He is disappointed that the things he did with the Pittsburgh Steelers for four years have not translated to success with his new team. Offensive coordinator Mike Sherman thinks Wallace is coming around. "I thought Mike had a tremendous ball game," Sherman said of Wallace's Week 11 performance against the San Diego Chargers.

WR | Nate Burleson | Detroit Lions | Injury, Fantasy
Detroit Lions WR Nate Burleson (forearm) will wear a Kevlar brace on his arm when he returns to action, and he'll have to change the way he plays in order to stay healthy. "I'm not going to be diving over piles and trying to run people over," Burleson said. "I'm going to try to have a little bit of preservation to the way I play. But I'm not concerned about that one bit. I'm actually looking forward to it and like I said, I get paid to play and I haven't played in a long time, so I've got a lot of time to make up for it."

Remember, Burleson isn't exactly a lock to play in Week 12 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. For that reason, he's best left on your bench if he's still on your roster.

WR | Kevin Walter | Tennessee Titans | Injury, Fantasy
The Tennessee Titans will not activate WR Kevin Walter (back) from the Physically Unable to Perform list, meaning he'll miss the rest of the year.

WR | Percy Harvin | Seattle Seahawks | Fantasy
Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll admitted that WR Percy Harvin won't be limited at all when the team returns from their Week 12 bye, but they won't change the offense around to accommodate him in a bigger role, either. "We don't have to hold back and count plays and stuff like that. He'll play a regular amount as we go. He won't play every play; we're going to still rotate our guys. We're not changing the offense," Carroll said. "I told Percy that the first night I talked to him. I told him we're not going to change because you're coming to our team, we're just going to add you in and hope you can be a factor to help us, which he's going to be."

WR | Joshua Morgan | Washington Redskins | Injury, Fantasy
Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said WR Joshua Morgan, who was inactive in favor of WR Nick X. Williams as a punt returner in Week 11, could return to the starting lineup if WR Leonard Hankerson (knee) needs surgery to fix a torn lateral collateral ligament in his knee. "I've got a lot of belief in Josh Morgan," Shanahan said. "I have a lot of confidence in Josh that he'll come back strong and help us this week as a receiver. But I explained to him what he needs to do in both special teams and wide receiver to get to a level that I think he can get to. I think he has the ability to be a Pro Bowl player and I want to get that out of him." Williams muffed a punt and failed to field another against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Morgan would be, at best, a flex player in deeper leagues if Hankerson is out for extended time.

WR | Jerricho Cotchery | Pittsburgh Steelers | Fantasy
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Jerricho Cotchery caught his career-high seventh touchdown pass of the year in the team's Week 11 win over the Detroit Lions, and he remains one of QB Ben Roethlisberger's most consistent targets. "Jerricho is a conversion van. He's always going to be there. He's going to tote the family well. He's going to be safe. He makes every catch he's supposed to and makes all the plays he should make. He's an awesome player. He's underrated in this league but he's eating people up in the slot," FS Ryan Clark said.

WR | Emmanuel Sanders | Pittsburgh Steelers | Injury, Fantasy
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Emmanuel Sanders (foot) will be limited in practice this week but is expected to play in Week 12.

Tight End

TE | Julius Thomas | Denver Broncos | Injury, Fantasy
Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (knee) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Nov. 20.

TE | Tony Gonzalez | Atlanta Falcons | Injury, Fantasy
Atlanta Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez (toe) is practicing Wednesday, Nov. 20.

TE | Dennis Pitta | Baltimore Ravens | Injury, Fantasy
Baltimore Ravens TE Dennis Pitta (hip) will practice Wednesday, Nov. 20.

TE | Jimmy Graham | New Orleans Saints | Injury, Fantasy
New Orleans Saints TE Jimmy Graham (foot) was limited in practice Tuesday, Nov. 19.

Graham is fully expected to play this week against the Atlanta Falcons. He's a must-start.
