Joe Gibbs Racing | Davis trying to earn Cup spot by 2009

Raygan Swan, of NASCAR.com, reports Joe Gibbs Racing driver Marc Davis is campaigning for a Sprint Cup or Nationwide Series race by 2009. Davis is a 17-year old racing prodigy out of Mitchellville, Md., and has raced for JGR in the Limited Late Model division at Hickory Motor Speedway in 2006. He had six wins during his rookie season and became only the second black driver to win a stock-car race at Hickory since Chris Bristol, who also was with JGR. Davis also competed in the Camping World East Series (formerly Busch) in 2007 and finished ninth in the final points standings and had six top 10 finishes.
