NASCAR | New Virginia resort could be NASCAR home away from home

Ron Lemasters, of NASCAR.com, reports a group of NASCAR veterans, including current and former drivers, crew chiefs and broadcasters were named to a resort advisory board. Joe Gibbs Racing drivers Tony Stewart and Denny Hamlin, Gillett Evernham Motorsports driver Elliott Sadler, crew chief Greg Zipadelli and former crew chief and FOX Sports broadcaster Jeff Hammond were all named to the Sheridan Ridge Private Reserve advisory board. The 1,400 acre resort community located in southwest Virginia is expected to be a home away from home environment for guests and even NASCAR drivers and members. Stewart said after spending 38 of 52 weeks a year on the road it will be nice to be able to retreat to a place like the Sheridan resort and be able to hang out with friends and relax. As members of the advisory board they will be responsible for weighing in on the property's amenities and showing visitors the unique lifestyle at the resort. The resort is located between Bristol, Richmond and Martinsville speedways, which will allow NASCAR fans to stay at the resort during race weekends.
