Cowboys | Anthony Spencer expects to play in Week 1
Dallas Cowboys DE Anthony Spencer (knee) said Monday, Aug. 19, that he vows to be in the starting lineup for the Week 1 game against the New York Giants. "The more strength I build up, the more stuff I'm able to do in the weight room, it's making me able to walk a little stronger and feel less pain each day," Spencer said. "So it's getting better." Spencer has not yet started to run, but he is walking, lifting, doing elliptical work and riding a stationary bike.
Fantasy Tip: Spencer, who is moving from linebacker to defensive end, might get off to a slow start working in the new 4-3 defensive scheme since he is so far behind. However, he can be useful as a low-end LB2 or must-start LB3 or flex player in fantasy leagues which use individual defensive players (IDPs). He'll gain DL eligibility, too, so his versatility will be nice as the season progresses. He posted 106 tackles and 11 sacks in 2012.
