MLB | Ted Lilly plans to play

Free-agent SP Ted Lilly (neck) is preparing to play winter ball in Venezuela in hopes of continuing his career next season. He underwent surgery on his neck to cauterize the nerve endings on the right side of his neck after meeting with specialists, and the procedure has been working to give him relief. Lilly is planning to start roughly six games and pitch 35 to 40 innings in Venezuela this winter. He had a 5.09 ERA in five starts for the Los Angeles Dodgers last season.
