Rams | Team interviews Haslett

Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports the St. Louis Rams interviewed Jim Haslett Monday, Jan. 5, for the team's head coaching vacancy, according to league sources. Haslett is a finalist for the position.


Titans | Fisher yet to rule out Mawae

The Associated Press reports Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher said he is still hoping C Kevin Mawae (elbow) can play in the team's playoff game despite Mawae stating in a radio interview that would be out for the game. "He's day-to-day, and (we're) evaluating him throughout the week," Fisher said. Fisher promised an official injury report Wednesday, Jan. 7.


Chargers | Jackson will be able to play against Pittsburgh

The North County Times reports San Diego Chargers WR Vincent Jackson's arrest on suspicion of drunken driving is still in process. Jackson submitted to a blood test and the results are pending. The case has not been turned over to prosecutors to file any charges because the police report is not yet complete. Jackson, in a statement, said he does not think any charges will be filed against him. This incident will not affect Jackson's chances of playing against the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Chargers said they are monitoring his case.


Saints | Bush had microfracture surgery on left knee

Mike Triplett, of The Times-Picayune, reports New Orleans Saints RB Reggie Bush (knee) had a more serious knee injury than the team let on. General manager Mickey Loomis said Bush had microfracture surgery on his left knee after he went on season-ending Injured Reserve in December. Loomis said Bush is expected to be ready for the team's June minicamp.


Patriots | Seymour to undergo surgery

John Tomase, of The Boston Herald, reports New England Patriots DE Richard Seymour (finger) will have minor finger surgery Jan. 9. The procedure will be done to correct a lingering problem he played with all season and it is not expected to keep him out of offseason workouts.

Updating previous reports, The Associated Press reports Cincinnati Bengals QB Carson Palmer (elbow) should be ready to take part in the team's regular offseason workouts. Palmer, as reported, will not need surgery on his right elbow after undergoing an MRI.

ESPN.com reports Boston College head coach Jeff Jagodzinski was interviewed by the New York Jets Tuesday, Dec. 6, and he will not be retained by the school, two people close to the situation told ESPN's Joe Schad. Boston College athletic director Gene DiFilippo was hoping to meet with Jagodzinski Wednesday, Dec. 7.

Continuing an ongoing storyline, ESPNews reports San Diego Chargers WR Vincent Jackson was already on probation for a previous arrest of driving under the influence prior to his arrest Tuesday, Jan. 6. As reported, Jackson was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and released after being taken to the San Diego County jail after failing a field sobriety test.

Browns | Deal with Mangini imminent?

Tony Grossi, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports indications are that a deal between the Cleveland Browns and former New York Jets head coach Eric Mangini for the Browns' head coaching position is imminent. The Browns have had discussions with Mangini beyond their formal interview, according to a source. Those talks have continued with the understanding that owner Randy Lerner would complete his search process before closing a deal. According to the source, the search is on hold at this point, possibly because the Browns have not been able to interview Baltimore Ravens director of player personnel George Kokinis, who is Mangini's close friend, yet since the Ravens are still in the playoffs.

"It went really well. I feel pretty good about it. I'm not sure how they feel. I guess we'll know more information in the coming days," Morris said.

"To be a head coach at some point in time has been in my thought process," Dennison said. "I've got things prepared. Specifically what they are, I'll keep for the interview. But I see it as something I want to do."

Jeff Legwold, of the Rocky Mountain News, reports Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, who interviewed for the vacant Denver Broncos head coaching position, said he is impressed with Broncos QB Jay Cutler. "You look at him and you see what you'd like to see in a quarterback, going all the way back to college, just the physical and mental toughness he possesses," Garrett said.
