"It's been tight since Friday, but nothing too serious," said Harper, who went 3-for-4 with three extra-base hits (a triple and two doubles) and an RBI. "Getting treatment every day. It feels fine. Ready to go tomorrow."

FANTASY TIP: Harper will often come down with nagging injuries like this one throughout the season because of how hard he plays the game. Double check the lineup tonight before you insert him into yours.

Atlanta Braves RP Craig Kimbrel (shoulder) said he's been bothered by the shoulder issue on and off since spring training, but he doesn't think it's serious and expects to be back pitching soon. "There's no reason to push it this early in the year," Kimbrel said. "It's something that doesn't really hinder me on the field. Being a pitcher, things get sore now and then. It's just a little uncomfortable. I'll take a few days off and be ready to go."

Mets | X-rays negative on Curtis Granderson

Tue, 15 Apr 2014 08:37:03 -0700

New York Mets OF Curtis Granderson's (forearm, rib cage, knee) X-rays came back negative, but he struggled to put on his shoes after the game Monday, April 14. OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis is expected to be brought up from Triple-A Las Vegas to help with outfield depth. Granderson crashed into the outfield wall attempting to make a catch Monday but later left the game with encouragement from the training staff.

"I hit the wall with my forearm, which then lodged my elbow into my chest area. And then running full stride my left knee also hit," Granderson said. "As the game just kept going on, things just started to tighten up a little bit. The great thing is all the X-rays are negative. We just wanted to be on the safe side and check everything, which we were able to do at the ballpark."

FANTASY TIP: Lucas Duda can be moved to the outfield to help with the likely loss of Juan Lagares (hamstring), and Chris Young (quadriceps) is expected to return from the DL Friday. Until then, Andrew Brown may see more playing time if Grandy needs some rest.

Angels | Albert Pujols looks like old self

Tue, 15 Apr 2014 08:34:44 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols is fully healthy and has hit four home runs in the last six games. So far this year, there is already a big difference in his ability to punish pitches inside the strike zone. Pujols is also looking more mobile on defense at first base, something he wasn't able to pull off in 2013 while dealing with plantar fasciitis.

FANTASY TIP: We knew Pujols was prime for a rebound season if he could just stay healthy. He's still one of the best hitters in the game and a good bet to reach 30 homers again if he avoids going on the disabled list.

St. Louis Cardinals OF Oscar Taveras is hitting .300 at Triple-A Memphis and has seven hits in his last 14 at-bats. He's also hitting .400 with a home run against left-handed pitchers.

White Sox | Alexei Ramirez has refined approach at the plate

Tue, 15 Apr 2014 07:27:25 -0700

Chicago White Sox SS Alexei Ramirez predominately struggled in April until he hit .281 in April last year. His average never dipped below .271 for any other month in 2013, which attributes his rise in consistency. He is hitting .420 and riding a 13-game hitting streak this month. Ramirez's usage of the whole field has been a crucial adjustment. "Pitchers are trying to pitch, and if I hit them good on one side, they are looking for another," Ramirez said through translator and White Sox manager of cultural development Lino Diaz. "So I've been lucky to be able to pretty much hit the ball where it's pitched. If I'm getting hits in one area, then they are throwing to other areas. I've been waiting for (the pitcher) in that area, too."

Giants | Former OC refutes Eli Manning is in decline

Tue, 15 Apr 2014 07:22:15 -0700

Former New York Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride said it's "ludicrous" to think that Giants QB Eli Manning is in decline. Diamondbacks | Not calling up Archie Bradley yet

Tue, 15 Apr 2014 06:46:21 -0700

The Arizona Diamondbacks will not call up SP Archie Bradley yet despite their slow start. General manager Kevin Towers said the team is concerned about his struggles in his final two spring starts. They also don't want him to have the pressure of saving a rotation with a 4-12 record and a majors-worst 7.16 ERA. Bradley's agent has gone to bat for him. "I think it's very apparent what is going on in Arizona," Bradley's agent, Jay Franklin said. "Archie Bradley has proven to the Diamondbacks organization that he has deserved that opportunity by keeping his mouth shut and letting his numbers speak for his chance to pitch in the major leagues."
