Free-agent OF Jacoby Ellsbury (Red Sox) and the New York Yankees agreed to a seven-year contract Tuesday, Dec. 3, pending a physical. The deal is believed to be larger than the seven-year, $142 million deal of Los Angeles Dodgers OF Carl Crawford.
FANTASY TIP: Ellsbury will be a great addition to the top of the lineup for New York. He steals tons of bases and hits for tremendous average, and that short porch in right should preserve his power. However, his shaky performance versus left-handed pitching and propensity for injury should worry fantasy owners. He's going to cost you a pretty penny, but if he stays healthy, he'll match your investment.

The Miami Marlins agreed to a three-year, $21 million deal with free-agent C Jarrod Saltalamacchia (Red Sox).
FANTASY TIP: Salty's power is nice for his position, but the move to Miami will temper some of that thump, and his average is bound to come down from last season's .273 mark. Rob Brantly and Jeff Mathis are still on the roster, too, meaning Mathis could form some sort of platoon with Salty if he continues to struggle against southpaws.

The Houston Astros acquired OF Dexter Fowler and a player to be named from the Colorado Rockies Tuesday, Dec. 3, in exchange for SP Jordan Lyles and OF Brandon Barnes.
FANTASY TIP: Fowler's value doesn't change all that much with the move to Houston, where he'll start in center field. Lyles and Barnes are merely NL-only fodder. Lyles has room to grow, but Coors Field will negate any upside he has left. Barnes is more of a fourth outfield type that might struggle to find consistent playing time, like he did in Houston.
