Toronto Blue Jays OF Colby Rasmus was benched Thursday, July 31, after showing up late to the ballpark. "I was late getting here to the field," Rasmus said. "Wasn't here when I was supposed to be and they punished me as they should have."
FANTASY TIP: On the plus side, Rasmus isn't dealing with an injury of any kind so his absence should be a one-game occurrence.

Cincinnati Reds CL Aroldis Chapman (hamstring) needed a visit from the trainer after throwing a pitch Thursday, July 31. Chapman threw a couple of warmup pitches but eventually closed out the game. He said after the game that he should be available Friday.
FANTASY TIP: The fact that Chapman finished out the game is an encouraging sign, but his availability is still worth checking on for the next day or so. He is one of the most dominant closers in the game so it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Reds give him a day or two off.

Seattle Mariners RP Danny Farquhar (bicep) suffered a bruised bicep after being hit by a line drive Thursday, July 31. He said he would be fine, according to Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times.
FANTASY TIP: It doesn't sound like he will miss much time, but it's worth checking back on his status in the coming days to make sure he is ready to go.

Philadelphia Phillies SP Cliff Lee (elbow) left the game Thursday, July 31, with a left flexor pronator strain, according to the team. Lee was making his third start since returning from the 60-day disabled list for the same injury.
FANTASY TIP: Lee missed a little more than two months recovering from the injury the first time around, and if a similar timetable is needed with this occurrence, his season will essentially be over. It certainly looks bad for Lee, but don't cut him loose until a definitive recovery time is given.

Philadelphia Phillies SP Cliff Lee (undisclosed) gestured toward his elbow before asking to be taken out of the game Thursday, July 31, according to ESPN's Buster Olney.
FANTASY TIP: The exact nature and severity of the injury remain to be seen, but the fact that he gestured toward his elbow is a bad sign.

Philadelphia Phillies SP Cliff Lee (undisclosed) left his start early with an undisclosed injury Thursday, July 31.
FANTASY TIP: It doesn't look good initially. Lee immediately called for a trainer after throwing a pitch. The fear would be that it's related to the left elbow injury that recently had him on the DL. Stay tuned for more updates on the severity of his injury.

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Starling Marte (concussion) will begin a four-game rehab stint Saturday, August 2, with Triple-A Indianapolis.
FANTASY TIP: It has been a disappointing sophomore campaign for Marte. He should be owned in the majority of formats, though, and he could finish strong. Expect him back the middle of next week. He shouldn't be started this week in weekly lineup leagues. Josh Harrison could see decreased playing time when Marte returns.
