Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (foot) will be limited during the team's offseason workouts while he recovers from offseason foot surgery. "Julio is participating with our athletic performance department," head coach Mike Smith said. "He will be able to get out on the field and do some walk-through stuff with us when we start going. Our focus on Julio is one thing, and that's having him prepared for our opener. ... He's progressing well. We're not going to do anything to hinder his timeframe in terms of getting back to work with us."
FANTASY TIP: The team previously said Jones was ahead of schedule in his rehab. This is probably just a case of the Falcons being ultra-cautious with their top offensive weapon. Assming Jones is fully healthy this year and his foot doesn't slow him down, he should return to being a WR1 for fantasy players.

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (ankle) said he is using this time while he rehabs from ankle surgery to focus on the mental aspects of the game. Newton is watching more film and asking more questions about the offense. "The bonding starts now," Newton said. "These days are very important, especially with my limitations as far as trying to graduate school and trying to make the most of my situation. The team is doing great. The turnout has been good. We hope to see 100 percent turnout by the end of OTAs."
