Atlanta Braves SP Kris Medlen's (forearm) MRI test results showed "some involvement of the ligament." He'll receive a second opinion and additional testing.
FANTASY TIP: While this report isn't entirely clear, anything involving bad news with a ligament doesn't sound promising. It's looking like he'll start the season on the disabled list, at least. The Braves will start planning ahead on SP alternatives.

Seattle Mariners SP Taijuan Walker (shoulder) remains day-to-day. He's scheduled to throw Wednesday, March 12, before the club reassesses his timetable.
FANTASY TIP: He may not start the season on time, but if he drops in your mixed draft to the point of a final-rounds, low-risk selection, it's hard not to pick him because of his big potential.

The St. Louis Cardinals will take their time in developing Cuban SS Aledmys Diaz by having him serve as depth in the minor leagues. He's on the 40-man roster and will be optioned this spring. A solid March could allow him to start the year at Class AA Springfield.
FANTASY TIP: Diaz had to sit out a full year as MLB-mandated punishment for misrepresenting his age, so he's behind the curve to get involved heavily in St. Louis' plans this year. Jhonny Peralta's presence and four-year deal obviously complicate the 23-year-old's timetable, as well. Diaz could develop significant power for a shortstop, and keeper leaguers shouldn't hesitate to spend a farm-roster spot on him.

The Washington Redskins agreed to an undisclosed deal with free-agent WR Andre Roberts (Cardinals).
FANTASY TIP: Roberts was an asset at times in point-per-reception leagues. He gives Pierre Garcon a set of steady hands on the other side and could thrive with the abundance of attention paid to Garcon. Roberts has averaged 53 catches per season the last three years and should be a later-round pick, WR4 or WR5 in PPR leagues this season.

Washington Nationals RP Rafael Soriano struggled in his appearance Monday, March 10, allowing five runs on five hits with one walk and two strikeouts in one inning. He has given up seven runs on eight hits in 1 2/3 innings this spring. His body language on Monday didn't look upbeat, and a scout said his fastball sat between 89 and 91 mph, which was close to his average from 2013. Manager Matt Williams isn't concerned.
FANTASY TIP: However, since these are tendencies Soriano displayed at times last season, fantasy owners should pay attention. His K/9 drop pointed to potential problems in the future. If he can't turn things around when regulation play starts, we could see more doses of Tyler Clippard and/or Drew Storen in save spots. Plan accordingly in your draft and be careful not to overpay for Soriano.

St. Louis Cardinals OF Oscar Taveras (ankle, hamstring) isn't in the lineup Tuesday, March 11. It's the third straight day he has sat after a tight right hamstring was bugging him Saturday, March 8. It could be a week or so before he plays in another spring game.
FANTASY TIP: This further jeopardizes his chances of making the Opening Day roster. He'll have to prove himself in Class AAA first, with an early-summer arrival likely his best-case scenario. Take note, fantasy owners, if you're stashing.
