Oakland Raiders RB Josh Jacobs is expected to lead the team in carries this season but may not be on the field for all three downs even though the team believes he can handle the role.

Huddle Up: Jacobs probably will be used mostly as a runner but could also receive some targets in the passing game. He has a chance to be a solid No. 2 running back in most leagues but probably will have more value in keeper leagues.

Oakland Raiders first-round RB Josh Jacobs (Alabama) signed his four-year rookie contract with the team Tuesday, July 9. The deal includes a fifth-year team option. Financial terms of the contract were not immediately disclosed.

Huddle Up: There have been reports in recent days that talks between Jacobs and the team had stalled, so owners and fans can relax. Jacobs is poised to carry a heavy workload this season and has the ability to do it in an offense that should be vastly improved over last year. Assuming good health, he should have no problem being a solid RB2 in fantasy.

Oakland Raiders RB Josh Jacobs may not be at camp when rookies report July 23, according to The Athletic's Vic Tafur, who writes that 'negotiations have not been going well' between the team and the 24th overall pick. Per Tafur, the issue is regarding the payment schedule of the signing bonus.

Huddle Up: And you thought the rookie wage scale would eliminate holdouts... While we're only a couple weeks away from the date for rookies to report, there's still more than two months before the Raiders open against the Denver Broncos on Sept. 9. For now just file this nugget away as something to monitor when training camp starts.

Oakland Raiders RB Josh Jacobs can be a three-down back for the team, according to general manager Mike Mayock.

Huddle Up: Jacobs should be considered the leading candidate for the starting job this upcoming season and could also have a role in the passing game. He can be considered a No. 2 or No. 3 running back in fantasy leagues.

Alabama RB Josh Jacobs was selected by the Oakland Raiders with the 24th pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Huddle Up: Jacobs is a well-rounded back who could be used on every down in the NFL. He will be in the mix to be the top pick in rookie drafts, and he could be a RB2 in redraft leagues if he is allowed to lead the Oakland backfield.
