Free-agent RB Spencer Ware (Chiefs) signed an undisclosed deal with the Indianapolis Colts Tuesday, April 30.

Huddle Up: Ware will provide depth, but he could be a solid short-yardage option behind Marlon Mack in the offense. Take a look at him as an RB5 in traditional leagues, and he receives a boost in TD-only leagues.

  • Posted: 3/18/2019 7:41am ET

Free-agent RB Spencer Ware (Chiefs) is visiting the Detroit Lions Monday, March 18.

Huddle Up: Ware can still be an RB4 if he lands in the right timeshare to run between the tackles.

  • Posted: 1/18/2019 1:17pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (hamstring) fully participated in practice Friday, Jan. 18, and is not on the injury report for the AFC Championship game.

Huddle Up: Ware has missed several weeks because of his injury but likely will be in uniform this week. His role in the offense is uncertain at this point, but he could still be considered a flex option in fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 1/17/2019 2:13pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (hamstring) fully participated in practice Thursday, Jan. 17.

Huddle Up: Ware appears to have a good chance to play against the New England Patriots, but owners will need to monitor the situation. He will be a risky fantasy option if he plays but can still be at least a flex option.

  • Posted: 1/16/2019 2:44pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (hamstring) put in a limited practice Wednesday, Jan. 16.

Huddle Up: Ware's lack of good health has paved the way for Damien Williams to break out in Kansas City's backfield. Even if Ware is healthy enough to play, he won't see the same workload he did at the end of the regular season.

  • Posted: 1/14/2019 7:15pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (hamstring) is considered day-to-day because of his hamstring injury, according to head coach Andy Reid.

Huddle Up: Ware was limited during practice last week and was not able to play in the Divisional Round playoff game. Ware could be a game-time decision this week, so owners will need to monitor the situation.

  • Posted: 1/12/2019 9:05am ET

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (hamstring) will participate in pregame warmups before the Divisional Round playoff game, but the team is not optimistic about his availability for the game, according to a source.

Huddle Up: Owners should check the inactive list for Ware's availability, but he would be a risky option if he plays. Damien Williams will be the starting running back if Ware is ruled out and can be a No. 2 fantasy running back or flex option in fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 1/10/2019 2:05pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Jan. 10, and is listed as questionable for the Divisional Round playoff game.

Huddle Up: Ware has been sidelined for about a month because of the injury but appears to have a decent chance to play against the Indianapolis Colts. He can be considered a No. 2 running back in playoff fantasy leagues if he is active.

  • Posted: 1/9/2019 2:25pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (hamstring) was listed as a limited participant for the second straight practice on Wednesday, Jan. 9.

Huddle Up: Check back Thursday for his official status for the playoff game against the Indianapolis Colts. If he is limited in his work again, Damien Williams might be in line to serve as the workhorse on Saturday. If Ware is ruled out, Charcandrick West might see some added touches. For fantasy purposes in postseason leagues and DFS, Williams is still the back to own in K.C.

  • Posted: 12/28/2018 3:25pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (hamstring) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 28, but is listed as questionable for Week 17.

Huddle Up: Ware appears to be on track to play in the season finale as long as he does not suffer any setbacks over the weekend. He should be a starting option in all leagues, but owners may need to temper expectations because he may share time with Damien Williams.

  • Posted: 12/27/2018 4:06pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (hamstring) was a full participant in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 27.

Huddle Up: Ware should be able to return this week after missing the prior two games. The problem is Damien Williams fared well in his absence and figures to continue taking away from Ware's workload. Despite this, it would be awfully tough to bench Ware in such a juicy matchup. Consider him at least an RB2/FLEX option.

  • Posted: 12/26/2018 3:01pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (hamstring) was back as a full participant in practice Wednesday, Dec. 26.

Huddle Up: Ware missed last week's game, as Damien Williams filled in rather admirably. It will be all hands on deck in Week 17 as the Chiefs try to finally sew up the AFC West Division title. Ware is a solid RB3 or flex fantasy play if healthy.

  • Posted: 12/23/2018 9:10am ET

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (hamstring) will miss a second straight game Sunday, Dec. 23.

Huddle Up: There was slim hope after Ware was limited in practice all week, but those who snatched up Ware as a late-season replacement in the K.C. backfield will have to rely on another RB for the second straight week.

  • Posted: 12/21/2018 3:40pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (hamstring) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 21, and is listed as doubtful for Week 16.

Huddle Up: Ware probably is at least a week away from returning, so Damien Williams will receive another start. He should be considered a No. 2 running back in leagues this week.

  • Posted: 12/20/2018 3:49pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 20.

Huddle Up: Ware appears to have a chance to play in Week 16, but owners will know more about his status in the next day or two. Ware can be a No. 2 running back in fantasy leagues if he is active for the game.

  • Posted: 12/19/2018 4:40pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (hamstring) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 19.

Huddle Up: Owners should know more about Ware's status for the Week 16 game later in the week. He would be a starting option in all leagues if he plays, but Damien Williams would be valuable in fantasy leagues if Ware is ruled out.

  • Posted: 12/17/2018 3:03pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (hamstring) is making progress in his recovery from a hamstring injury and is considered day-to-day.

Huddle Up: Owners will need to monitor his practice participation this week to see if Ware has a chance to play in Week 16. He likely will be the starting running back when he returns and can be a No. 2 fantasy running back.

  • Posted: 12/12/2018 6:52pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs RB Damien Williams is expected to be the starting running back for the Chiefs in Week 15 if RB Spencer Ware (hamstring, shoulder) is not able to play.

Huddle Up: Williams posted only 30 total yards on 12 touches in relief last week but had two touchdowns in that game. He would receive most of the work at running back if Ware is ruled out and could be at least a flex option for owners.

  • Posted: 12/12/2018 12:40pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (shoulder, hamstring) did not practice Wednesday, Dec. 12, and is doubtful for Week 15.

Huddle Up: It's time to begrudgingly and reluctantly remove Ware from starting lineups. Damien Williams will start in Ware's absence and possesses RB2 upside after scoring twice last week. Add him immediately if he's on waivers.

  • Posted: 12/11/2018 10:11am ET

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (shoulder) will not practice Tuesday, Dec. 11, as he recovers from a shoulder injury.

Huddle Up: Being a veteran back in the K.C. offense, it's certainly possible Ware will be able to play after sitting out practice on a short week, but his fantasy owners need to have a Plan B at the ready.

  • Posted: 12/10/2018 6:49pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (shoulder) was listed as a non-participant in practice Monday, Dec. 10. The team did not physically practice and his status was just an estimation.

Huddle Up: Circle back around on Wednesday when we'll be able to have a much better idea whether or not Ware will be able to suit up on Thursday night.

  • Posted: 12/9/2018 6:07pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware rushed 15 times for 75 yards and caught five passes for 54 yards in a 27-24 win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 14.

Huddle Up: Ware would have finished with a monster line had Damien Williams not vultured a pair of touchdowns. That being said, high-end RB2 potential is now Ware's ceiling as the lead back for Kansas City's high-powered attack.

  • Posted: 12/9/2018 11:54am ET

Updating a previous report, Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (shoulder) returned to the team's Week 14 game after missing some time because of a shoulder injury.

Huddle Up: Ware should continue to receive most of the work at running back as long as he does not suffer any setbacks and will be a weekly starting option for owners.

  • Posted: 12/9/2018 11:23am ET

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury during the Week 14 game and is considered questionable to return.

Huddle Up: Owners should monitor the situation to see if Ware will be able to return to the game. Damien Williams and Charcandrick West are candidates to receive playing time if Ware misses extended time and would be at least flex options.

  • Posted: 12/2/2018 8:40pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware rushed 14 times for 47 yards and a touchdown in Week 13 against the Oakland Raiders.

Huddle Up: Ware was thrust into the starting role following the sudden release of Kareem Hunt for his off-field issue. Fantasy owners should treat Ware as a RB3 or flex option heading into Week 14 against the Baltimore Ravens.

  • Posted: 12/1/2018 10:14am ET

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware will be the team's starting running back moving forward after RB Kareem Hunt was released.

Huddle Up: Ware has rushed for only 124 yards on 22 carries this season but has had success in the past as a starting running back. He should have a favorable matchup this week and can be a No. 2 running back in all fantasy leagues.

  • Posted: 11/4/2018 4:09pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware posted two rushes for just 12 yards in Week 9 against the Cleveland Browns, but he added four grabs for 69 yards on five targets.

Huddle Up: Ware is useful in deeper PPR leagues, but he has very little use in most other formats as long as Kareem Hunt remains healthy. The Chiefs host the Cardinals in Week 10.

  • Posted: 10/21/2018 11:17pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware logged eight carries for 59 yards in Week 7 versus the Cincinnati Bengals. Ware also caught all three of his targets for 30 more yards.

Huddle Up: Ware had amassed a total of 10 rushing attempts and six receptions in six games leading up to their rout of the Bengals, so most owners probably don't need to scramble to the waiver wire in order to add him - unless they intend on handcuffing him to Kareem Hunt or are desperate for a bye-week fill-in.

  • Posted: 8/25/2018 1:22pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (knee) made his preseason debut Saturday, Aug. 25 against the Chicago Bears. He ran three times for three yards while adding two grabs for 18 yards on three targets.

Huddle Up: Ware was making his first game appearance since suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament last preseason. He will be the primary backup to Kareem Hunt, and the team is obviously confident in his healthy since they jettisoned Charcandrick West earlier this week. Ware is more of an RB5 at this point, and a handcuff to those drafting Hunt early on draft day.

  • Posted: 6/24/2018 6:36pm ET

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (knee) has been limited to individual drills during spring practices, according to head coach Andy Reid, but Reid expects Ware to be ready in the coming weeks.

Huddle Up: Kareem Hunt is now the workhorse in the Kansas City backfield, making Ware no more than a handcuff for Hunt's fantasy owners.
