Daniel Jones - QBPosted 5/17/19 9:59am ET
New York Giants QB Daniel Jones has impressed teammate TE Evan Engram. in OTAs so far. 'He's picking up [the offense] really fast,' Engram said Thursday, May 16.. 'They've been trying to throw some stuff at him, and he's handled it really well.'
Huddle Up: There's increased talk that Jones could be ready to start the season opener if needed, but veteran Eli Manning is expected to be under center for his 15th straight Week 1 start. Neither Giants QB, though, projects as anything more than a QB3 for the time being.
Odell Beckham - WRPosted 5/14/19 5:11am ET
Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. is expected to report to the team's first organized team activities practice Tuesday, May 14.
Huddle Up: OBJ is an elite WR1 in fantasy, but the uncertainty of his new surroundings may keep him from being a top-three target in fantasy.
Daniel Jones - QBPosted 5/3/19 10:48am ET
New York Giants QB Daniel Jones said Friday, May 3, he has spoken once with QB Eli Manning since he was drafted April 25, and is looking forward to further building a relationship with the veteran quarterback. We both want the same thing,' Jones said. 'We want the Giants to win football games and that's the goal of everyone here. I'm certainly going to let that be known that that's my goal. However that happens, whatever the plan is, I'm here to do that. I understand my role is to learn from him and I'll certainly be focused on improving myself every day and making sure I'm improving, but at the end of the day we want to win. If that's the mindset, we'll be good.'
Huddle Up: Even as the sixth-overall pick, Jones has little fantasy value with Manning expected to start at least the majority of the team's games in 2019, but highly drafted rookie QBs almost unilaterally have been called to action sooner than expected in recent seasons.
Daniel Jones - QBPosted 4/25/19 5:59pm ET
Duke QB Daniel Jones was selected by the New York Giants with the sixth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Huddle Up: Jones likely will sit behind Eli Manning for a season but could see some playing time if the Giants are eliminated from the playoff push late in the season. He could be an option in keeper leagues but can be avoided in most standard leagues.
Eli Manning - QBPosted 4/25/19 10:11pm ET
New York Giants QB Eli Manning is expected to be the team's starter entering the 2019 season, an arrangement that head coach Pat Shurmur indicated was the goal with Manning's job being to win enough games to keep rookie QB Daniel Jones off the field.
Huddle Up: If this sounds familiar it's because you heard it from every GM that drafted a QB last season, and yet all those rookies were starting sooner than later. Sure, Manning is almost guaranteed to start in Week 1, but with the G-Men likely to struggle it might not take long for the organization to decide it's time to look to the future. Whatever nominal value Manning might've had is all but gone with Jones' arrival.
Saquon Barkley - RBPosted 4/18/19 9:17am ET
New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley said Thursday, April 18, he fails to understand the critics who said the Giants should've selected a quarterback over him in the 2018 NFL Draft. 'If a Rookie of the Year (award) doesn't sway that mindset I don't know what will,' Barkley said.
Huddle Up: The criticism certainly didn't come from Barkley's fantasy owners as the rookie dazzled to the tune of 2,028 scrimmage yards and 15 touchdowns last season. And even if the Giants somehow bypass on drafting a QB again this spring, Barkley is the leading candidate to be the first pick in fantasy drafts this summer.
Sterling Shepard - WRPosted 4/13/19 7:07pm ET
New York Giants WR Sterling Shepard said he is ready to be a leader in the locker room and on the field in 2019.
Huddle Up: With Odell Beckham Jr. out of the picture, Shepard and Golden Tate figure to be the go-to weapons for Eli Manning next season. Whether or not Manning's play can allow either player to produce consistent numbers remain to be seen, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see Shepard emerge as a WR3.
Sterling Shepard - WRPosted 4/10/19 2:16pm ET
New York Giants WR Sterling Shepard received a four-year, $41 million contract extension Wednesday, April 10, according to a source.
Huddle Up: Shepard is New York's No. 1 wideout with Odell Beckham gone. He's put together three reasonable successful campaigns and is looking to attain a career year in his new role. As such, expect him to finish in WR2 range if he stays healthy.
Sterling Shepard - WRPosted 4/4/19 7:00pm ET
New York Giants WR Sterling Shepard is expected to see more snaps on the outside in 2019 with WR Golden Tate playing mainly in the slot.
Huddle Up: While Odell Beckham Jr. is out of the picture, Shepard will now have to contend with Tate for targets while learning a new role. Throw in the suspect play of Eli Manning, and Shepard is best viewed as a WR4.
Evan Engram - TEPosted 4/4/19 7:13pm ET
New York Giants TE Evan Engram caught 38 passes for 413 yards in the 11 games he played with Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr., and he has 71 catches for 886 yards in the 15 games he has played without Beckham.
Huddle Up: With Beckham out of the picture entirely, Engram should enjoy a steady role in the passing attack all season long. Injuries are a bit of a concern, but he's worth selecting as a TE1.
Odell Beckham - WRPosted 4/1/19 9:44am ET
Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. reported to the team for the first day of offseason workouts Monday, April 1.
Huddle Up: In what has probably been a surprise to many, Beckham didn't seem to immediately embrace his trade from the Giants last month, so there was some question as to whether or not he would take his time to make an impression on his new employer. Owners should expect OBJ to get comfortable sometime before training camp, and if he does, he could be poised for a banner season with the best quarterback and supporting cast he's had in his career.
Eli Manning - QBPosted 3/31/19 9:21am ET
New York Giants QB Eli Manning is heading into the final season of his contract in 2019 but could remain with the team through 2020, a possibility that Giants co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch recently said they were open to.
Huddle Up: Manning hasn't thrown for more than 26 touchdowns or been a top-16 fantasy QB since 2015, and now his top weapon -- WR Odell Beckham -- has been traded. Stay even further away from Manning in fantasy this coming summer, and also don't be shocked if this is a bit of smokescreen and the Giants come away with their QB of future in the coming draft.
Odell Beckham - WRPosted 3/27/19 2:32pm ET
Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. is expected to show up for the start of Cleveland's offseason program Monday, April 1. Beckham had planned to end his offseason by April 15 before being traded to the Browns.
Huddle Up: It's important for Beckham, Baker Mayfield and the organization to get started on the right foot. Beckham will need to show up earlier than he anticipated, but the excitement is palpable between him and the Browns. Despite the presence of former college teammate Jarvis Landry, Beckham projects as a top WR1 in all formats.
Cody Latimer - WRPosted 3/17/19 9:25pm ET
New York Giants WR Cody Latimer announced on his official Instagram account on Sunday, March 17 that he is returning to the team on a one-year deal. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Huddle Up: Latimer posted 11 grabs for 190 yards and a touchdwon last season before missing 10 games due to a hamstring injury. With Odell Beckham Jr. moving on to Cleveland, there is a chance Latimer could see a larger role depending upon the other draft picks and personnel moves the team chooses to make. Still, he has had chances to make a splash before and hasn't really answered the bell.
Odell Beckham - WRPosted 3/13/19 1:21pm ET
Updating previous reports, the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants finalized the trade to send WR Odell Beckham Jr. to the Browns on Wednesday, March 13.
Huddle Up: Beckham, as previously mentioned, remains a No. 1 receiver in fantasy but could encounter a lower volume of targets. His big-play nature should help off-set any limitations in this area.
Eli Manning - QBPosted 3/13/19 8:43pm ET
New York Giants QB Eli Manning is scheduled to receive a $5 million roster bonus if he is on the roster Saturday, March 16, and the Giants plan on paying that bonus at this point, according to sources.
Huddle Up: It appears that Manning will be the starting quarterback for at least one more season but will not have many weapons to work with in the passing game. He should be avoided in all fantasy leagues in 2019.
Odell Beckham - WRPosted 3/12/19 5:07pm ET
New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. was traded to the Cleveland Browns Tuesday, March 12, in exchange for a 2019 first-round pick, the Browns' second third-round pick in 2019 and SS Jabrill Peppers according to a source.
Huddle Up: It actually happened. The Giants traded their star receiver. Sterling Shepard takes over as the No. 1 wide receiver in the Big Apple. More opportunities are coming for Corey Coleman, Evan Engram and more, but one can logically deduce that the Giants will sign or draft another wide receiver. For now, view Shepard as a fantasy WR2.
Eli Manning - QBPosted 2/27/19 10:36am ET
Updating ongoing reports, New York Giants QB Eli Manning will return to the franchise in 2019, head coach Pat Shurmur said Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the NFL Scouting Combine. 'Well, I think Eli can help us win games, and he proved when the players around him starting playing better that he can play at a very high level and help us win games, so at this point I want Eli back,' Shurmur said. 'He's back.'
Huddle Up: While Shurmur may feel this one, one has to question whether general manager Dave Gettleman will indeed be in agreement when push comes to shove. Cutting Manning would save $17 million against the 2019 salary cap, but there are not any clearly better options available at this time. Presuming Shurmur's words ring true, Eli is a low-end QB2 in 2019. In all likelihood, Manning will begin the year starting under center but give way to a rookie passer at some point in the season.
Odell Beckham - WRPosted 2/18/19 10:25am ET
New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. was sought after by the New England Patriots ahead of the last season's trade deadline, according to NBC's Chris Simms, who reported New England was the team 'most aggressively pursuing' Beckham at that point of time.
Huddle Up: The Patriots obviously settled on Josh Gordon, but his status is such that Beckham could easily be a target of theirs again in 2019. While Gordon may be able to return again at some point in 2019, New England knows it can't count on him for any length of time. The Patriots' biggest need may be an outside receiver, and the prospect of playing the next two to three years with Tom Brady could be too tantalizing for the team to pass up if they are willing to pay the price to get Beckham.
Odell Beckham - WRPosted 2/18/19 8:08pm ET
New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. is believed to be a trade target for the San Francisco 49ers this offseason, according to ProFootballTalk.com's Mike Florio.
Huddle Up: It is not known if Beckham will be available this offseason, but the 49ers likely will look to add a No. 1 receiver during the offseason. Beckham will be a No. 1 fantasy receiver no matter where he plays in 2019.
Saquon Barkley - RBPosted 2/2/19 6:44pm ET
New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley was named the 2018 Offensive Rookie of the Year Saturday, Feb. 2.
Huddle Up: Barkley's 2,028 scrimmage yards were the most in the NFL this year and the third most by a rookie back. He also set a record for a rookie running back by catching 91 passes and was one of two players to finish the year with 1,000-plus rushing yards and 700-plus receiving yards. He's in the mix to be the No. 1 overall pick in 2019.
Saquon Barkley - RBPosted 1/31/19 9:13am ET
New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley has been named the 2018 Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year, as decided by an online vote of fans.
Huddle Up: Barkley's fantasy owners certainly should've voted as he finished tops among RBs in PPR scoring and finished second to Todd Gurley in standard leagues. And after also finishing second with 352 total touches, he'll be a legit No. 1-overall pick candidate in re-draft leagues this summer.
Eli Manning - QBPosted 1/27/19 9:35am ET
New York Giants QB Eli Manning is likely to return for another season and help groom his successor, likely a high-round rookie draft pick.
Huddle Up: Despite some elite surrounding weapons, Eli is no longer a viable fantasy starting option as he finished outside of the top 16 fantasy QBs in 2018 for the third straight season. It's time for the Giants to move on and spend a top pick on their QB of the future.
Saquon Barkley - RBPosted 1/25/19 7:18pm ET
New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley said he left 'so many' big plays on the field in 2018. 'You're going to leave plays on the field, but you can learn from it and you can get better,' Barkley said.
Huddle Up: Barkley finished his rookie year with 2,028 yards from scrimmage, 15 touchdowns and 91 receptions, so his production didn't exactly suffer because of some missed opportunities. He will likely be a top-five pick in all fantasy formats in 2019.
Eli Manning - QBPosted 1/24/19 12:23pm ET
New York Giants QB Eli Manning's agent has already said he expects Manning to return to the Giant in 2019, but Spotrac considers it a 'longshot.' He'll cost the Giants $11.2 million in dead cap at 38 years old.
Huddle Up: Manning quietly rebounded last season after a humbling 2017 campaign. Even so, the money and the age are strongly against him. The Giants may try to squeeze another year out of him, but he remains on the fantasy backburner.
Eli Manning - QBPosted 1/21/19 4:21pm ET
New York Giants QB Eli Manning is expected to return to the Giants next season, according to his agent Tom Condon. Condon said he has not had any talks with the Giants about the possibility of them releasing Manning.
Huddle Up: Manning has thrown for at least 4,000 yards in four of the last five season but has thrown only 40 touchdowns over the last two seasons. The Giants likely will add a quarterback at some point this offseason, but it is not known if Manning will be a starter in 2019. Owners in all leagues probably can avoid Manning even if he is a starting quarterback.
Saquon Barkley - RBPosted 1/3/19 8:21pm ET
New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley's 16 rushes of 20-plus yards were five more than any other player in the NFL in 2018.
Huddle Up: Barkley proved to be the total package as a rookie, leading the league in total yards while scoring 15 times and catching 91 passes. Between his heavy workload, versatility and explosiveness, he'll be in the mix to the No. 1 overall pick in fantasy drafts in 2019.
Odell Beckham - WRPosted 1/2/19 9:11am ET
New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. will not be traded this offseason, according to general manager Dave Gettleman.
Huddle Up: Beckham has led a tenuous tenure during his stay in New York. He has performed well on the field, but his polarizing off-field life, injuries and the Giants' failures have spawned trade whispers. Gettleman has abruptly silenced those whispers, but Beckham is an elite wide receiver wherever he plays as long as he's in good health.
Eli Manning - QBPosted 1/2/19 10:27am ET
New York Giants QB Eli Manning's future with the Giants is cloudy as general manager Dave Gettleman was noncommittal on Manning being the starter in 2019. 'I'm committed to making the best decision in the interest of the Giants. We're in the evaluation process,' Gettleman said.
Huddle Up: Manning will have a good game every now and then, but he's far from consistent and clearly one of the weakest links on the offense. Keep him off your 2019 fantasy draft board.
Saquon Barkley - RBPosted 12/30/18 9:46am ET
New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley needs 114 scrimmage yards in Week 17 on Sunday, Dec. 30, to join Eric Dickerson and Edgerrin James as the only rookie running backs with 2,000 scrimmage yards.
Huddle Up: Barkley is one of the few elite RB1s active and seemingly set for a full workload in Week 17, and with the opposing Dallas Cowboys resting up for the wild-card round of the playoffs, Barkley might be THE RB1 start of the week.
