Phillies | Maikel Franco out of the lineup

Sat, 23 Jul 2016 11:07:53 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco (wrist) is not in the starting lineup Saturday, July 23. 3B Andres Blanco will take his place at third base and bat third against Pittsburgh Pirates Tyler Glasnow.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco is a capable replacement for Franco in the heart of the lineup. He has hit better on the left side, too. Blanco is a decent starting option at a lower-than-usual price for a starter batting third in the lineup.

Phillies | Ryan Howard draws first post-break start

Sat, 16 Jul 2016 12:55:43 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard is in the lineup, batting fifth against New York Mets SP Logan Verrett and playing first base Saturday, July 16, in place of 1B Tommy Joseph. INF Andres Blanco will hit right behind Howard and replace 2B Cesar Hernandez, while C Carlos Ruiz will fill in for C Cameron Rupp behind the plate and follow Blanco in the order.

Fantasy Tip: Slashing a miserable .158/.217/.356 this season, it is hard to defend using Howard in just about any format. Blanco is getting his first start since July 2 and brings virtually nothing to the fantasy table. Ruiz is 3-for-8 in July but only has 11 RBI in part-time duty this year; he has not homered since April 27, so he can be avoided in fantasy as well.

Phillies | Several Phils regulars resting Saturday

Sat, 02 Jul 2016 10:52:28 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard, SS Freddy Galvis, OF Cody Asche and C Cameron Rupp are not in the starting lineup versus Kansas City Royals SP Danny Duffy Saturday, July 2. INF Andres Blanco will bat third and play shortstop, 1B Tommy Joseph will bat fifth and play first base, C Carlos Ruiz will bat sixth and start behind the plate and OF Tyler Goeddel will bat seventh and play in left field.

Fantasy Tip: Joseph is 3-for-20 at the plate over the past week, while Goeddel is batting just .182 since June 1. Both players should be avoided in all fantasy formats. Blanco and Ruiz should be viewed strictly as inexpensive fliers in DFS.

Phillies | Andres Blanco continues to rake

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 22:39:44 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 2B Andres Blanco went 1-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI with a caught stealing Saturday, June 25, against the San Francisco Giants. He has hit safely in six of the past nine games, raising his average from .253 to .273 just since June 16.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco is worth using as a middle infielder option in deeper NL-only fantasy leagues and he is worth riding as a low-priced DFS option until he starts to cool off.

Phillies | Three Phils sitting out Saturday

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 15:56:38 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Odubel Herrera, OF Cody Asche and 2B Cesar Hernandez are out of the lineup Saturday, June 25. OF Peter Bourjos leads off with 2B Andres Blanco hitting fifth and OF Jimmy Paredes hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Bourjos is hitting .375 this month and hits lefties to a .327 clip. Madison Bumgarner isn't your typical lefty, but Bourjos has upside tonight. Blanco has minimal fantasy intrigue, but Paredes doesn't at this point.

Phillies | Andres Blanco has three-hit game

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 22:57:17 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 2B Andres Blanco went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, two runs scored and two RBIs Wednesday, June 22, against the Minnesota Twins.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco had a strong stat line, but he is still only worth using in the deepest of NL-only fantasy leagues and as a low-cost DFS option.

Phillies | Cesar Hernandez sitting again

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 14:46:26 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 2B Cesar Hernandez is not in the starting lineup against Minnesota Twins SP Kyle Gibson Wednesday, June 22. SS Andres Blanco will start at second base and is batting second.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco has been a bit inconsistent at the plate over the last few weeks and is not a strong option for owners in most leagues.

Phillies | Cesar Hernandez on the bench

Tue, 21 Jun 2016 14:45:47 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 2B Cesar Hernandez is not in the starting lineup against Minnesota Twins SP Tyler Duffey Tuesday, June 21. 2B Andres Blanco will start at second base and is batting second.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco is hitting .263 with one RBI over the last seven days. Blanco should be used in NL-only leagues but does not have much value in most mixed leagues.

Phillies | Maikel Franco out of lineup

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 08:42:12 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco is out of the lineup Monday, June 20, with 3B Andres Blanco hitting cleanup.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco continues to see spots in the middle of the order, but the production isn't following. He has a .243-1-4 line this month, and he's a pass against Shelby Miller.

Phillies | Philadelphia resting four players

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 09:12:05 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Tommy Joseph, C Cameron Rupp, 2B Cesar Hernandez and OF Peter Bourjos are not in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Zack Greinke Saturday, June 18. 2B Andres Blanco will start at second base and is batting third. 1B Ryan Howard will start at first base and is batting fourth. OF Jimmy Paredes will start in right field and is batting fifth, while C Carlos Ruiz will start at catcher and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco, Howard and Ruiz are all hitting less than .200 over the last seven days and probably should be avoided in most fantasy leagues. Paredes is performing a little better at the plate over that span, but owners should be able to find better options for their lineups.
