Angels | Huston Street pitches rehab game

Sat, 28 May 2016 23:20:38 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Huston Street (oblique) threw 20 pitches in an extended spring game Saturday, May 28, and he may be close to coming back.

Fantasy Tip: Joe Smith has done a decent job filling in for Street, but the team relies on Street as its main bullpen threat so Street will go back to the closing job barring a setback. Keep Street stashed accordingly, but hold onto Smith as a handcuff pick for your roster if you are able to do so.

Angels | Huston Street to throw simulated game

Sun, 22 May 2016 00:47:10 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Huston Street (oblique) will pitch a simulated game on Monday, May 23.

Fantasy Tip: Interim closer Joe Smith blew a save on Saturday, but it was only the second time in seven chances where he blew the save. Smith will do fine until Street returns, and when Street does he should go back into his closing job. Until then, bench Street accordingly.

Angels | Huston Street to throw Wednesday

Tue, 17 May 2016 18:16:23 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Huston Street (oblique) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, May 18. He hopes to be able to return in the next few weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Street likely will have a rehab assignment before he comes off the disabled list. He probably will regain his closer job when he returns, so owners should keep him on their roster. Joe Smith will continue to close games for the time being and should be a decent option in most leagues.

Angels | Two injured Halos throwing

Tue, 10 May 2016 16:28:25 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP C.J. Wilson (shoulder) is throwing his second bullpen session in the last two days Tuesday, May 10, and RP Huston Street (oblique) is playing catch for the first time since going on the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Both Wilson and Street are a ways off from returning, and the Angels are being cautious since they can't afford anymore setbacks to their pitching staff. Wilson should be given a spot in the rotation when he's ready, but his drop in velocity and inability to miss many bats the last two years keep his ceiling low in deep mixed and AL-only leagues. As long as Street is out, Joe Smith should see all of the save chances for the Angels. Keep Street stashed everywhere.

Angels | Huston Street official sent to DL

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 14:47:19 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Huston Street (oblique) was officially placed on the disabled list with a left oblique strain Thursday, April 28.

Fantasy Tip: With Street on the shelf, Joe Smith projects to handle the ninth inning for the Angels. Smith is an immediate add in all fantasy formats, and Street is a universal stash. Fernando Salas and Mike Morin would be the next closing option should Smith falter.

Angels | Huston Street headed to DL

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Huston Street (oblique) is expected to be placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left oblique. RP Joe Smith recorded the save in Street's absence Wednesday, April 27.

Fantasy Tip: Smith has been a serviceable fill-in before. Pick him up in most formats and stash Street on the DL.

Angels | Huston Street records another save

Thu, 21 Apr 2016 15:08:19 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Huston Street notched his 319th career save over the Chicago White Sox Thursday, April 21, moving him into a tie for 18th place all time with Todd Jones. Street allowed a solo home run, walked two and struck out one before closing it down Thursday. It was Street's fourth save on the year.

Fantasy Tip: Street made this one interesting. He has missed time in his career with many nagging injuries, which makes him more of a second fantasy closer. But as long as he's healthy, his job security isn't in question as the Angels' ninth-inning stopper.

Angels | Huston Street is fine

Tue, 08 Mar 2016 10:44:41 -0800

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Huston Street (calf) said his left calf is fine, and he was resting as a precaution. He will face hitters in a simulated game Tuesday, March 8, and will pitch in an exhibition game Thursday, March 10.

Fantasy Tip: This is yet another reminder that Street is one of the more injury prone closers in baseball. He's also not missing many bats, and his control slipped further last season. However, Street is firmly in the closing role and should be considered a No. 2 fantasy closer.

Angels | Huston Street dinged up

Mon, 07 Mar 2016 09:16:50 -0800

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Huston Street (calf) has had some calf tightness, but he is better now and threw in a simulated game. He must do pitching drills before pitching in a spring game.

Fantasy Tip: Street has been solid in the ninth for the Angels, but the veteran closer is a big injury risk. Because of that, he's more of a second fantasy closer.

Angels | Huston Street's availability uncertain

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 05:06:43 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim RP Huston Street's (groin) availability for a possible playoff run is uncertain at this point, according to manager Mike Scioscia. Street starting moving toward pitching again but is not ready to pitch in a game yet.

Fantasy Tip: Street likely will not pitch again during the regular season but could be available if the team makes it to a playoff series. Street ranks second the American League with 40 saves this season and could be a solid option for fantasy owners next season.
