Nationals | Anthony Rendon scratched from lineup

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 08:37:32 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon (illness) has been scratched from the lineup against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Chad Kuhl Sunday, July 17, because of flu-like symptoms. INF Stephen Drew will start at third base, with INF Trea Turner playing second base.

Fantasy Tip: Drew is batting .333 (6-for-18) during the month of July, while Turner is 4-for-11 at the MLB level this season. Both players should be viewed as productive sources of salary cap relief in daily fantasy games.

Nationals | Daniel Murphy remains sidelined Sunday

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 08:03:28 -0700

Updating a previous report, Washington Nationals 2B Daniel Murphy (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Chad Kuhl Sunday, July 17. 1B Clint Robinson will bat fifth and play first base, while INF Stephen Drew will bat seventh and play second base.

Fantasy Tip: With 1B Ryan Zimmerman (rib cage) on the disabled list, Robinson is seeing the bulk of the action at first base but he should be viewed as a low-end option in the majority of fantasy formats. Drew is 6-for-18 (.333) during the month of July and makes a productive source of cap relief in DFS.

Nationals | Stephen Drew fills in admirably

Sat, 16 Jul 2016 20:58:03 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Stephen Drew went 3-for-4 with three doubles and two runs scored Saturday, July 16, against the Pittsburgh Pirates while filling in for the injured 2B Daniel Murphy (hamstring).

Fantasy Tip: Drew remains nothing more than a short-term option in NL-only play and a DFS fill-in and salary saver, as Murphy is considered day to day and not expected to miss much time.

Nationals | Ben Revere returns to lineup

Sat, 16 Jul 2016 14:38:58 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Ben Revere is in the lineup against Pittsburgh Pirates RH Gerrit Cole on Saturday, July 16, and will lead off. Rookie 2B Trea Turner will head to the bench after starting the last two games in favor of 2B/SS/3B Stephen Drew, who will play second base and hit seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Revere is 7-for-12 against Cole, so perhaps he is a sneaky DFS option given his speed (10 steals), but he doesn't bring much else to the table. Drew has shown a bit of pop so far (seven homers in 91 at-bats), but he can be avoided outside of NL-only formats.

Nationals | Wilson Ramos, Danny Espinosa out

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 11:22:15 -0700

Washington Nationals C Wilson Ramos and SS Danny Espinosa are out of the lineup Wednesday, July 6, with SS Stephen Drew and C Jose Lobaton hitting seventh and eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Drew is 3-for-9 (.333) with a homer the last week. He has a decent enough matchup against Matt Garza for a basement play. Lobaton doesn't hit enough to use in DFS.

Nationals | Daniel Murphy has the day off

Mon, 04 Jul 2016 06:45:26 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Daniel Murphy is out of the lineup Monday, July 4, with 2B Stephen Drew hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Drew has occasional power, but it's not on display enough to warrant a DFS play against Junior Guerra today.

Nationals | Two Nats take a seat

Sat, 02 Jul 2016 14:19:50 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon and 1B Ryan Zimmerman are out of the lineup Saturday, July 2. 1B Clint Robinson is hitting sixth, and 3B Stephen Drew is hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Robinson and Drew have occasional power, but they're not consistent enough at the plate to make good flyers against Dan Straily today.

Nationals | Several Nats regulars resting Sunday

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 09:53:44 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman, C Wilson Ramos and SS Danny Espinosa are not in the starting lineup against Milwaukee Brewers SP Jimmy Nelson Sunday, June 26. 1B Clint Robinson will bat sixth and play first base, INF Stephen Drew will bat seventh and play shortstop and C Jose Lobaton will bat eighth and start behind the plate.

Fantasy Tip: Of this afternoon's three replacements in the Washington lineup, Drew is the most productive source of salary cap relief for daily fantasy contests. He is 9-for-19 with two doubles, three home runs and eight RBI during the month of June and has raised his average for the season from .173 to .254.

Nationals | Two Nats sit

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 16:17:17 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon and OF Jayson Werth are out of the lineup Saturday, June 18, with OF Michael Taylor hitting second and 3B Stephen Drew hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor is hitting .333 this month, and he's a good flyer against Colin Rea as he's hitting ahead of Bryce Harper. Drew is 8-for-16 with three homers this month, and he, too, is a low-end flyer with a good matchup.

Nationals | Daniel Murphy, Ryan Zimmerman out

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 16:04:16 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Daniel Murphy and 1B Ryan Zimmerman are not in the starting lineup Thursday, June 16. 2B Stephen Drew is starting at second base and is hitting seventh, while 1B Clint Robinson draws in at first base and is batting fifth against San Diego Padres SP Erik Johnson.

Fantasy Tip: Just normal days of rest for Murphy and Zimmerman. Act accordingly to bench them in seasonal and daily leagues. Robinson is hitting .222 with two home runs and 10 RBI, while Drew has a .246/.301/.554 slash line with six long balla and 13 RBI. Both flash occasional power but are nothing more than deep sleepers on the odd chance they connect tonight.
