Pirates | Neil Walker sitting out

Sun, 30 Aug 2015 08:42:29 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Neil Walker is not in the starting lineup against Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa Sunday, Aug. 30. 2B Josh Harrison will start at second base and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Walker ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) is receiving a day off because he struggles against left-handed pitchers. Harrison ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) has five hits and one RBI in his last five games and could be a starting option on FantasyScore.

Pirates | Neil Walker takes a seat

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 11:50:29 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Neil Walker is not in the lineup against Miami Marlins left-handed SP Brad Hand Tuesday, Aug. 25. 3B Josh Harrison is starting at the keystone and hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Harrison ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) is fresh off returning from the DL this week, so many daily gamers may be avoiding him. You shouldn't; Harrison has a slash line of .306/.371/.403 in 62 at-bats against lefties this year.

Sat, 22 Aug 2015 11:28:31 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Neil Walker will bat fifth against San Francisco Giants SP Mike Leake Saturday, Aug. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Walker ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) is batting .265 with five doubles, a home run and 12 RBIs in 49 career at-bats against Leake. Although he is batting just .258 this month, half of his hits have been for extra bases.

Pirates | Neil Walker resting vs. 'Zona

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 13:28:11 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Neil Walker is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Aug. 19. 1B Sean Rodriguez is starting at second base and batting eighth against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Robbie Ray Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Walker ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) is having an inconsistent season but has been an extra-base machine in August. He has two doubles, two triples and three home runs to fuel a .500 slugging percentage. Make sure to avoid him in all formats Wednesday, though. Theoretically, Rodriguez ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) owns the handedness advantage against Ray ($5,100, 10.2% of cap), but Rodriguez is sporting an uninspiring .561 OPS over 80 plate appearances against lefties this season. FantasyScore players should likely aim higher.

Pirates | Neil Walker in two-hole Thursday

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 12:38:39 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Neil Walker is hitting second against St. Louis Cardinals SP Lance Lynn Thursday, Aug. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Walker ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) should see a slight boost to his FantasyScore value today while hitting near the top of the order. He also has all 11 of his home runs against right-handed pitching this year, so that's another plus for him tonight. He's 13-for-40 (.325) with three home runs and 10 RBI in his career against Lynn. Walker is a very nice value selection.

Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Neil Walker is back in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Mat Latos Saturday, Aug. 8.

Pirates | Neil Walker sitting out

Fri, 07 Aug 2015 11:51:44 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Neil Walker is not in the lineup against Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed SP Clayton Kershaw Friday, Aug. 7. 1B Sean Rodriguez is starting at the keystone and hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: You shouldn't even consider starting Rodriguez ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) for a second against the dominant Kershaw. Rodriguez has a weak average of just .217 (34-for-157) with only three home runs and seven RBI.

Pirates | Neil Walker will not start

Mon, 03 Aug 2015 12:01:03 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Neil Walker is not in the starting lineup against Chicago Cubs SP Jon Lester Monday, Aug. 3. OF Sean Rodriguez will start in second base and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Walker ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) has struggled against left-handed pitchers this season, so he receives a day off. Rodriguez ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) has only three hits in his last nine games and should not be a starting option on FantasyScore.

Pirates | Neil Walker demoted to eight-hole

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 13:08:58 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Neil Walker is batting eighth against Cincinnati Reds SP David Holmberg Thursday, July 30.

Fantasy Tip: It is an interesting relegation. Walker ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) has eight runs, three home runs, nine RBI and a .273/.279/.485 slash line over his past 15 games, which is hardly production to turn your nose up at. Still, Walker's fantasy value takes a hit at FantasyScore, and if he sticks down at the bottom of the lineup, his year-long value is diminished, too.

Pirates | Neil Walker moves down order

Sat, 25 Jul 2015 13:31:14 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates 2B Neil Walker was dropped to seventh in the order Saturday, July 25.

Fantasy Tip: Walker ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) had been in the two-hole most days, but with Aramis Ramirez coming aboard, Starling Marte is hitting second. Walker has a .318-4-14 line this month, but he might be too costly on FantasyScore so low in the order.
