Red Sox | Dustin Pedroia sitting vs. White Sox

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 12:09:18 -0700

Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia is not in the starting lineup Monday, June 20. INF Marco Hernandez is starting at second base and batting ninth against Chicago White Sox SP Miguel Gonzalez Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Pedroia is receiving the night off after going just 1-for-16 through his past four games. Don't read into the mini slump, though. Pedroia has 45 runs, seven home runs, 28 RBI and a .302/.359/.455 for the season, after all. Hernandez is nothing more than a desperation start in all fantasy formats Monday.

Red Sox | Dustin Pedroia extends streak to 15

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 22:42:51 -0700

Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia went 1-for-3 with a walk against the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday, June 8, to extend his hitting streak to 15 games.

Fantasy Tip: That's 15 in a row for Pedroia, who is just the latest Red Sox player to compile an impressive hitting streak. Over those 15 games, the second baseman is 23-for-62 (.371) with a home run, six RBI and nine runs scored. Pedroia is always one of the best hitters at his position. Let's just hope he can stay healthy this year.

Red Sox | Dustin Pedroia, David Ortiz streaking

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 15:49:17 -0700

Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia and 1B David Ortiz are both in the midst of 13-game hitting streaks. Ortiz is 22-for-50 with 16 extra-base hits and 20 RBI during the span, while Pedroia is 21-for-54 with eight extra-base hits and six RBI.

Fantasy Tip: Ho hum for the Boston offense. Who isn't hitting in Boston? Anyway, Pedroia and Papi are must-starts in all fantasy formats. However, while playing in San Fran this week, Ortiz might see the bench more often than not. He's not playing Tuesday night.

Red Sox | Dustin Pedroia, Xander Bogaerts starting

Thu, 26 May 2016 12:48:44 -0700

Updating previous reports, Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) and SS Xander Bogaerts (thumb) are both in the starting lineup and batting second and third, respectively, against Colorado Rockies SP Jon Gray Thursday, May 26.

Fantasy Tip: It could be slightly risky relying on them in daily contests Thursday, but in seasonal leagues it is all systems go with the middle infield duo. Pedroia boasts a solid .304/.364/.470 slash line for the season, and Bogaerts is in the midst of an 18-game hitting streak.

Red Sox | Dustin Pedroia expects to play

Thu, 26 May 2016 09:08:40 -0700

Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) said he expects to play Thursday, May 26, despite leaving early with right hamstring tightness Wednesday, May 25. Pedroia said he is "fine." He was on the disabled list twice last year with hamstring injuries and was limited to 93 games. Manager John Farrell said Pedroia had a cramp sensation and took him out as a precaution.

Fantasy Tip: Boston is likely to play it safe with their 32-year-old second baseman, so don't be surprised to see him rested for a day or two. He's been a great fantasy asset and has been a great value pick so far, hitting .304 with six home runs and 20 RBI from the keystone. Get him back into all starting lineups when he's back.

Red Sox | Dustin Pedroia unable to finish game

Wed, 25 May 2016 18:53:36 -0700

Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) left the game early Wednesday, May 25, because of right hamstring tightness.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation to see if Pedroia will miss any games because of the injury. Pedroia should be a starting option in all leagues when he is healthy. Marco Hernandez and Josh Rutledge would be candidates at second base if Pedroia is not ready and could be sleeper players in daily fantasy leagues.
