Red Sox | Dustin Pedroia back on the DL

Sat, 25 Jul 2015 18:32:35 -0700

Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring Saturday, July 25.

Fantasy Tip: Pedroia ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) missed 16 games with the same injury prior to the All-Star break. Brock Holt ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) should see regular playing time while Pedroia is sidelined and is worth using as a source of cap relief when the Red Sox face favorable pitching matchup.

Red Sox | Dustin Pedroia remains out

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 13:26:09 -0700

Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup against Detroit Tigers SP Justin Verlander Friday, July 24. OF Brock Holt will start at second base and is batting second in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye out to see when Pedroia ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) will be able to play again. Holt ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has recorded at least one hit in 14 of his last 17 games and could be a solid starting option on FantasyScore.

Red Sox | Dustin Pedroia on the bench Thursday

Thu, 23 Jul 2015 13:24:11 -0700

Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia will not be in the starting lineup Thursday, July 23. 2B Brock Holt will start at second base and bat second against Houston Astros SP Lance McCullers.

Fantasy Tip: Holt ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has only faced McCullers three times in his career, achieving one hit. Holt has had a decent month at the plate, though, posting at least one hit in 11 of 14 games. He's not the best option at second base, but you could do worse than rostering Holt on FantasyScore.

Red Sox | Dustin Pedroia hitless in Game 2

Mon, 20 Jul 2015 22:43:48 -0700

Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) was going to sit out Game 2 of a doubleheader Monday, July 20, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He was hitless in four at-bats after going 0-for-2 with a walk in Game 1.

Fantasy Tip: Pedroia ($4,800; or 9.6% of cap) was going to sit out in Game 2, but he changed his mind and played. That's positive news for FantasyScore players, but negative that he was hitless in both games.

Red Sox | Dustin Pedroia back in lineup

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 16:45:20 -0700

Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) is batting second against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP C.J. Wilson Friday, July 17.

Fantasy Tip: This is Pedroia's ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) first start since being activated from the disabled list for a strained right hamstring. FantasyScore owners would typically be advised not to use him in his first game back so that he can prove he is healthy but he is 11-for-27 (.406) in his career versus Wilson, with three doubles, one home run and six RBIs.

Red Sox | Dustin Pedroia not a lock to return

Thu, 16 Jul 2015 18:32:09 -0700

Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) is expected to be activated from the disabled list Friday, July 17, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, but manager John Farrell said that his return isn't guaranteed.

Fantasy Tip: The fact that Farrell hasn't confirmed Pedroia's ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) return could be a sign that his hamstring isn't quite 100%. Even if he does end up playing, it isn't a bad idea to give him a game or two to prove his health before using him at FantasyScore.

Red Sox | Dustin Pedroia to return Friday

Sun, 12 Jul 2015 12:57:38 -0700

Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) is expected to return to the starting lineup against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Friday, July 17, without going on a minor league rehab assignment.

Fantasy Tip: Pedroia ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) is batting .306 with nine homers and 33 RBIs through 69 games this season. He was eligible to be activated from the disabled list Friday, July 10, but the team decided to err on the side of caution and allow him to use the All-Star break to relax. INF/OF Brock Holt ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) had received all of the starts at the keystone position in his absence, so expect his playing time to decrease slightly when he returns.

Red Sox | Dustin Pedroia not ready yet

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 13:18:05 -0700

Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) has run the bases, but he's not ready to return from the disabled list, and manager John Farrell is non-committal on when the team might activate him. It's possible that Pedroia doesn't return until after the All-Star break.

Fantasy Tip: Be prepared to avoid Pedroia ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) on FantasyScore for the rest of the weekend. He should be ready to go for the start of the second half, though. Brock Holt ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) could still start frequently at other positions once Pedroia is back, and he could see some time at first base to spell the slumping Mike Napoli.

Red Sox | No decision on Dustin Pedroia's return

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 14:49:54 -0700

Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) is eligible to return from the disabled list Friday, July 10, but there has been no decision on whether he will, according to manager John Farrell.

Fantasy Tip: Don't be surprised if Pedroia ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) is held out through the All-Star break to ensure he is fully healthy, but make sure to check back for an official update. Pedroia was having a nice bounce-back season, and he should return to being a mid-tier starting second basemen in all fantasy formats. Brock Holt ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) projects to head back to utility role with Alejandro De Aza ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) likely losing the most fantasy value.

Red Sox | Dustin Pedroia progressing

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 08:23:23 -0700

Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) is hopeful to take batting practice Thursday, July 2.

Fantasy Tip: Pedroia could return in time for the July 10-12 series against the New York Yankees, or the team could hold him out until after the All-Star break. Keep him stashed on your DL in the meantime.
