Royals | Kendrys Morales back in right field

Thu, 30 Jun 2016 13:46:56 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Kendrys Morales is starting in right field and batting third against St. Louis Cardinals SP Mike Leake Thursday, June 30. OF Paulo Orlando is not in the starting lineup Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Morales has been scorching hot in June with a .386/.440/.590 slash line, 14 runs, four home runs and 16 RBI. He should be owned in all seasonal leagues and started confidently while rolling offensively. Orlando is a low-end option in deep mixed formats, but a potential starter in cavernous mixed and AL-only setups given his respectable .337/.363/.436 slash line and semi-regular playing time.

Royals | Kendrys Morales starting in right field

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 13:49:10 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Kendrys Morales is starting in right field and batting third against St. Louis Cardinals SP Carlos Martinez Wednesday, June 29. OF Paulo Orlando is not in the starting lineup Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Morales makes the rare start in the field because there isn't a designated hitter available in the road game against the Cards. He's having a huge June (.367/.425/.582 slash line with four home runs and 16 RBI) and should be owned in all fantasy formats. Orlando owns a .343/.369/.444 line through 188 plate appearances this season and is a viable option in cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues.

Royals | Kendrys Morales locked in at the dish

Mon, 27 Jun 2016 20:56:09 -0700

Kansas City Royals DH Kendrys Morales enjoyed his second four-hit day in seven games, going 4-for-4 with a double and two RBI against the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday, June 27.

Fantasy Tip: Morales was batting .191 prior to getting a day off on June 6 and was still hovering around .200 10 days later, but he has been on a tear in his last eight games (15-for-27) to increase his average to a much more palatable .243. Perhaps the 33-year-old Cuban has found his home batting sixth - where he is hitting .489 in 45 at-bats this season. Morales was brilliant in his first year as a Royal last season and the odds are he is rediscovering that form. Pick him up where he is available and start him wherever possible.

Kansas City Royals 1B Kendrys Morales went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in a 6-1 win over the Houston Astros Sunday, June 26.

Royals | Kendrys Morales sitting vs. Mets

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 08:29:26 -0700

Kansas City Royals DH Kendrys Morales is not in the starting lineup for the road game against the New York Mets Wednesday, June 22.

Fantasy Tip: After posting 22 home runs and 106 RBI last year, Morales has struggled in 2016 and sits with just eight long flies, 32 RBI and a .225/.294/.369 slash line. At this point, he isn't worth a roster spot outside of deep mixed and AL-only setups.

Kansas City Royals DH Kendrys Morales finished 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles, four runs scored and five RBIs Saturday, June 18, against the Detroit Tigers. Morales has hit safely in seven straight games.

Fantasy Tip: Morales had been stumbling along, but he is getting well against the Detroit pitching staff. Morales is 6-for-10 with five runs scored and six RBIs over the past two games. He remains a solid fantasy option in AL-only leagues and most mixed formats for his power potential.

Royals | Three KC regulars taking a seat

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 15:02:08 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Jarrod Dyson and Paulo Orlando and 1B Kendrys Morales are not in the starting lineup Wednesday, June 15. OF Whit Merrifield is in left field and hitting leadoff, OF Reymond Fuentes is starting in right field and batting seventh and C Drew Butera is doing the catching and hitting ninth with C Salvador Perez serving as the designated hitter. Also, 2B Christian Colon is starting at the keystone and is hitting eighth against Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber.

Fantasy Tip: Merrifield has become a start in KC in short order with a .326 average (31-for-95), and he's homered in back-to-back games for his first two big league long balls. While he's hot, continue using him as a value pick in DFS. He's also worth adding for depth in deep mixed and AL-only leagues with everyday playing time. Fuentes, Butera and Colon all profile as low-end dart throws as deep sleepers in DFS.
