Royals | Kendrys Morales sitting vs. Mets

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 08:29:26 -0700

Kansas City Royals DH Kendrys Morales is not in the starting lineup for the road game against the New York Mets Wednesday, June 22.

Fantasy Tip: After posting 22 home runs and 106 RBI last year, Morales has struggled in 2016 and sits with just eight long flies, 32 RBI and a .225/.294/.369 slash line. At this point, he isn't worth a roster spot outside of deep mixed and AL-only setups.

Royals | Kendrys Morales ends streak in pinch

Tue, 21 Jun 2016 19:58:12 -0700

Kansas City Royals DH Kendrys Morales flied out to right field in the fifth inning in his only at-bat Tuesday, June 21, against the New York Mets to snap an eight-game hitting streak.

Fantasy Tip: Morales is hitting .387 (12-for-31) over the past nine games, and he has seven runs scored with two homers and 10 RBIs. He has been red hot and remains a must-start fantasy option, although he might not see many at-bats in the National League park this week.

Royals | Kendrys Morales goes bonkers in win

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 21:09:34 -0700

Kansas City Royals DH Kendrys Morales finished 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles, four runs scored and five RBIs Saturday, June 18, against the Detroit Tigers. Morales has hit safely in seven straight games.

Fantasy Tip: Morales had been stumbling along, but he is getting well against the Detroit pitching staff. Morales is 6-for-10 with five runs scored and six RBIs over the past two games. He remains a solid fantasy option in AL-only leagues and most mixed formats for his power potential.

Royals | Three KC regulars taking a seat

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 15:02:08 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Jarrod Dyson and Paulo Orlando and 1B Kendrys Morales are not in the starting lineup Wednesday, June 15. OF Whit Merrifield is in left field and hitting leadoff, OF Reymond Fuentes is starting in right field and batting seventh and C Drew Butera is doing the catching and hitting ninth with C Salvador Perez serving as the designated hitter. Also, 2B Christian Colon is starting at the keystone and is hitting eighth against Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber.

Fantasy Tip: Merrifield has become a start in KC in short order with a .326 average (31-for-95), and he's homered in back-to-back games for his first two big league long balls. While he's hot, continue using him as a value pick in DFS. He's also worth adding for depth in deep mixed and AL-only leagues with everyday playing time. Fuentes, Butera and Colon all profile as low-end dart throws as deep sleepers in DFS.

Royals | KC in for tough time tonight?

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 13:10:44 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Lorenzo Cain is hitting just .192 with two RBI in the last five years over 26 at-bats against Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber, who he faces Wednesday, June 15. SS Alcides Escobar is batting .190 in 42 at-bats against Kluber. 1B Kendrys Morales is hitting .150 with an RBI in 20 at-bats and C Salvador Perez is hitting .160 with two RBI in 25 at-bats.

Fantasy Tip: Cain and Perez are must-starts in all fantasy formats despite the sketchy history against the Klubot in recent times. Escobar is useful for his speed in deeper leagues but doesn't contribute much else and is a weak daily pick. Morales is having a down year but has been unfortunate in the BABIP column to date. Look to buy low on him in seasonal leagues if you can.

Kansas City Royals 1B Kendrys Morales (finger) is in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale Sunday, May 29, and is batting fifth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Morales has only three hits over his last eight games and probably can be avoided in most fantasy leagues because of the tough matchup.

Royals | Kendrys Morales remains out

Sat, 28 May 2016 08:45:40 -0700

Kansas City Royals 1B Kendrys Morales (finger) is not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox SP Carlos Rodon Saturday, May 28. OF Brett Eibner will serve as the designated hitter and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Eibner went 1-for-3 in his first game with the Royals, but he probably should be avoided in all fantasy leagues at this point.

Royals | Kendrys Morales, Omar Infante sitting

Fri, 27 May 2016 14:28:56 -0700

Kansas City Royals 1B Kendrys Morales (finger) and 2B Omar Infante are not in the starting lineup Friday, May 27. OF Brett Eibner is serving as the designated hitter and is batting eighth, while OF Whit Merrifield is starting at the keystone and hitting second against Chicago White Sox SP Miguel Gonzalez.

Fantasy Tip: Not much is going right for Morales this year. He's sporting an ugly .187/.247/.313 slash line with five home runs and 18 RBI and is expected to miss a few more days with his injury. Keep him benched where you own him until he shows signs of life and returns from injury. Both Merrifield and Eibner are worth looks in AL-only leagues for depth. They should both see decent playing time with Alex Gordon and Kendrys Morales hurt right now.

Royals | Kendrys Morales to miss several days

Thu, 26 May 2016 17:56:26 -0700

Kansas City Royals DH Kendrys Morales (finger) is expected to miss three to four days because of a sprained right middle finger.

Fantasy Tip: Morales is batting .187 with five home runs and 18 RBI through 45 games and has collected just two hits in his last 17 at-bats. He can be dropped in shallow mixed leagues and doesn't have much fantasy value outside of AL-only leagues at this point.
