Royals | Kendrys Morales performs well

Sat, 16 Apr 2016 06:24:09 -0700

Kansas City Royals 1B Kendrys Morales went 3-for-4 with one RBI against the Oakland Athletics Friday, April 15.

Fantasy Tip: Morales is on a bit of a hot streak with five hits in his last three games. Morales will be in the starting lineup most of the time and is a fine starting candidate in most mixed leagues.

Royals | Kendrys Morales expected to be fine

Mon, 29 Feb 2016 19:10:47 -0800

Kansas City Royals 1B Kendrys Morales (illness) has been battling the flu from the past couple of days and he has been missing in camp. Manager Ned Yost said Monday, Feb. 29, that Morales should be back Tuesday, March 1.

Fantasy Tip: Morales was healthy in 2015, and he rebounded rather nicely with a .290 average, 41 doubles, 22 homers and 106 RBIs, second-most in his career. His on-base percentage of .362 was also a career-best. If you're looking for power in the middle rounds Morales is a decent fantasy option if he can stay healthy.

Royals | Kendrys Morales not starting Game 3

Thu, 29 Oct 2015 12:14:44 -0700

Kansas City Royals 1B Kendrys Morales will not be in the starting lineup against the New York Mets in Game 3 of the World Series Friday, Oct. 30, according to manager Ned Yost.

Fantasy Tip: Morales is just 1-for-7 through the first two games of the series, and without the ability to utilize him as a designated hitter, it is unlikely Morales starts any of the games played at Citi Field. The veteran had a monster regular season with 81 runs, 22 home runs, 106 RBI and a .290/.362/.485 slash line. Entering the 2016 fantasy season, Morales stands to slide down into the late middle rounds of drafts and return profit again because there isn't significant hype surrounding his fantasy stock.

Mets | Matt Harvey has struggled against lefties

Tue, 27 Oct 2015 11:49:04 -0700

New York Mets SP Matt Harvey has particularly liked to throw his fastball to left-handed hitters on the outside of the plate. He had a .676 OPS against lefties this year compared to .544 against righties, and 15 of the 18 home runs he allowed in 2015 were to lefty hitters. The Kansas City Royals are notoriously good fastball hitters, and their lefty hitters like fastballs away. 2B Ben Zobrist (.206/.372/.324), 1B Eric Hosmer (.379/.463/.707), 1B Kendrys Morales (.400/.494/.662), 3B Mike Moustakas (.300/.385/.500) and OF Alex Gordon (.340/.407/.698) all had success against right-handed fastballs away.

Fantasy Tip: Harvey is one of the better young fastball pitchers, but against the best fastball-hitting team in baseball this year, he'll need to effectively mix in his slider and changeup to keep them off balance and be successful, especially against the lefties. Harvey's high innings total after coming off Tommy John surgery will be a narrative in the World Series, as well.

Royals | Kendrys Morales is homer happy

Wed, 14 Oct 2015 22:00:28 -0700

Kansas City Royals DH Kendrys Morales went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Game 5 of the American League Division Series against the Houston Astros Wednesday, Oct. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Morales ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) swatted three homers in the five-game series. He is a tremendous mid-tier FantasyScore option heading into the ALCS.

Royals | Kendrys Morales homers twice

Thu, 08 Oct 2015 21:16:58 -0700

Kansas City Royals 1B Kendrys Morales went 2-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs in a 5-3 loss to the Houston Astros in Game 1 of the American League Division Series Thursday, Oct. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Morales ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) was solid for the Royals all season, driving in 106 runs. He has picked up where he left off and should continue to be a safe, solid addition to lineups at FantasyScore.

Royals | Kendrys Morales not playing

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 08:28:36 -0700

Kansas City Royals 1B Kendrys Morales (quadriceps) is not in the starting lineup against Minnesota Twins SP Tommy Milone Saturday, Oct. 3. OF Jonny Gomes will serve as the designated hitter and is batting fifth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Morales ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) could be receiving another day off to rest his injured quadriceps. Gomes ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) has only one hit in his last eight games and probably should be avoided by owners on FantasyScore.

Royals | Injury updates for Kansas City regulars

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 14:18:51 -0700

Updating a previous report, Kansas City Royals OF Lorenzo Cain (knee) and C Salvador Perez (thumb) will play against the Minnesota Twins Saturday, Oct. 3, while 1B Kendrys Morales (quadriceps) is expected to play Saturday.

Fantasy Tip: Cain ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) and Perez ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) can safely be returned to your seasonal lineups Saturday, but they're likely not high-end FantasyScore options. Morales ($5,300, 10.6% of cap), meanwhile, should be viewed as risky start in all fantasy formats Saturday. Continue to check back for updates.

Royals | Three regulars out for Kansas City

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 13:53:35 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Lorenzo Cain (knee), 1B Kendrys Morales (quadriceps) and C Salvador Perez (thumb) are not in the starting lineup Friday, Oct. 2. OF Alex Rios (back) is starting in right field and batting sixth against Minnesota Twins SP Ervin Santana Friday.

Fantasy Tip: The Royals are cruising into the playoffs, so there is no reason to risk aggravating a minor injury for one of their everyday players. In seasonal leagues, Cain ($5,600, 11.2% of cap), Morales ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) and Perez ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) aren't slam-dunk owns over the final weekend of the year, and FantasyScore players shouldn't be excited about rolling out any Royals against a surging Santana ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) who has posted a 1.47 ERA over his past six outings.

Royals | Kendrys Morales day-to-day

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 09:03:27 -0700

Kansas City Royals 1B Kendrys Morales (quadriceps) was removed from the game as a precaution Thursday, Oct. 1, and the team is saying he's day-to-day.

Fantasy Tip: Morales ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) isn't dealing with a serious injury, but with the Royals trying to get healthy for the playoffs, there's a good bet he won't be in the lineup Friday night. Make absolute sure he's playing tonight before running with him on FantasyScore.
