Texas Rangers SP Lucas Harrell will be in the team's starting rotation, according to general manager Jon Daniels.
Fantasy Tip: One of the year's brightest surprise stories after not starting a major league game since the beginning of the 2014 season, Harrell will provide the Texas pitching staff with some much-needed depth. With Colby Lewis and Derek Holland still out for the foreseeable future, Harrell will get the chance to stick on a top contender, though owners shouldn't expect him to sustain his 3.38 ERA that he held over five starts with the Braves.

The Atlanta Braves acquired 2B Travis Demeritte from the Texas Rangers in exchange for SP Lucas Harrell and RP Dario Alvarez Wednesday, July 27.
Fantasy Tip: Demeritte, 21, has 25 home runs with a .272/.352/.583 slash line with Class A High Desert this season, but he's clearly a long way from the majors. He's nothing more than a player to deep keeper/dynasty formats for the near future.

The Texas Rangers acquired SP Lucas Harrell and RP Dario Alvarez from the Atlanta Braves Wednesday, July 27. The players traded to Atlanta have yet to be announced.
Fantasy Tip: Harrell should be owned in all cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues, but he's pitched well for five starts this season during an otherwise underwhelming career. Over 67 career starts, he owns a 4.69 ERA and a 1.52 WHIP, after all. Keep your expectations in check. Alvarez is a left-handed reliever with no fantasy value at this point.

Atlanta Braves SP Lucas Harrell allowed no runs on four hits in six innings against the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday, July 26. Harrell issued three free passes and struck out four.
Fantasy Tip: In five starts this month, Harrell is 2-2 with a 3.38 ERA, a 1.26 WHIP and 21 K's in 29 1/3 innings. He's NL-only fodder while he's languishing on the Braves, but if they move him before the deadline he could become an intriguing roll of the dice in deeper mixed leagues.

Atlanta Braves SP Lucas Harrell has drawn interest from "at least three teams," according to general manager John Coppolella.
Fantasy Tip: It's amazing how quickly things can change, as Harrell was struggling in Korea as recent as last year. Now, after a decent showing in four starts with the Braves -- his first starts in the big leagues since the beginning of 2014, remember -- he could wind up on a contender. The former Houston Astro will really only hold any value if he remains in the National League.

Atlanta Braves SP Lucas Harrell was pretty good in his start Wednesday, July 20, but it wasn't enough as he fell to the Cincinnati Reds. Harrell went six innings, allowing four runs on seven hits, including a home run. He also struck out three and issued three walks.
Fantasy Tip: Harrell was probably a bit better than his final statline, as he did carry a shutout into the sixth before things came apart for the 31-year-old journeyman. The former Houston Astro has now gone at least six innings in three of his four starts, while flirting with usefulness in NL-only leagues. He still has to show some more consistency to prove he can be trusted in his newfound situation with the Braves.

Atlanta Braves SP Lucas Harrell allowed seven runs, five earned, on seven hits while walking three and striking out four over 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Colorado Rockies Friday, July 15.
Fantasy Tip: After impressive outings in his first two starts, Harrell looked a lot more like the pitcher with a 4.72 career ERA. At best, he is a roll-of-the-dice option in DFS formats.
