St. Louis Cardinals 1B Matt Adams could platoon with 1B Mark Reynolds in 2015. Adams had a .231 on-base percentage and a .298 slugging percentage in 130 plate appearances against left-handed pitchers last season. Adams did hit two huge home runs off Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw and San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner in the playoffs. Adams seemed to gain weight during the season last year, and the team could privately emphasize his conditioning more.

Milwaukee Brewers 1B Mark Reynolds was back in the lineup Friday, Sept. 19, against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was hitless in three at-bats less than 24 hours after a rare mental mistake opened the door for a late rally by the St. Louis cardinals Thursday, Sept. 18. "This guy, instinctually, is unbelievable," manager Ron Roenicke said. "That's why when you see those things happen, it's surprising. And, you know, why couldn't you do it in a game that didn't matter?"

Milwaukee Brewers 1B Mark Reynolds is sitting out of the lineup in favor of C Jonathan Lucroy at first base Wednesday, July 2, because Reynolds is 0-for-16 with eight strikeouts in his career against Toronto Blue Jays SP J.A. Happ.

The Milwaukee Brewers will likely leave first base alone when they seek trade help, as general manager Doug Melvin is happy with the production of 1B Mark Reynolds and 1B Lyle Overbay.

Updating a previous report, the Milwaukee Brewers are expected to place 3B Aramis Ramirez (hamstring) on the 15-day disabled list because of a left hamstring injury. No corresponding move has been announced, although it could depend upon the health of OF Ryan Braun (oblique) and the status of OF Carlos Gomez's suspension.
Fantasy Tip: INF Mark Reynolds and 1B Lyle Overbay will benefit the most from Ramirez's absence, which comes just as Braun appears ready to come off the disabled list. The two players had been platooning at first base but now stand to see regular playing time, with Reynolds manning the hot corner and Overbay playing first on a full-time basis. Both players should be picked up in NL-only leagues.

Milwaukee Brewers 1Bs Lyle Overbay and Mark Reynolds will likely platoon at first base to start the year, as the team elected to go with veterans at the position over 1B Juan Francisco. Overbay had three hits Sunday, March 23, but he was hitting just .114 this spring before the game.
Fantasy Tip: A platoon here basically wipes out any small value either player would have on his own. Reynolds is probably slightly more valuable because of his power potential, but he won't be seeing as many at-bats if it's a straight righty-lefty platoon.
