Cardinals | Brandon Moss playing first base

Sat, 29 Aug 2015 11:04:51 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B/OF Brandon Moss is batting eighth and starting at first base against San Francisco Giants SP Ryan Vogelsong Saturday, Aug. 29. 1B/OF Mark Reynolds is not in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Moss ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) is batting just .208 this month and is hitless in four career at-bats versus Vogelsong. Better first base options are available in FantasyScore this afternoon.

Cardinals | Matt Carpenter to play at 1B

Thu, 27 Aug 2015 15:50:46 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 3B Matt Carpenter will start at first base against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Rubby De La Rosa Thursday, Aug. 27, and is batting first. 3B Greg Garcia will start at third base and is batting eighth, while 1B Mark Reynolds is not in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Carpenter ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) has not seen a lot of playing time at first base but is should not affect his fantasy value. Garcia ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is hitting .298 in limited playing time this season, but owners on FantasyScore may be able to better options to use.

Cardinals | Kolten Wong with day off

Sat, 22 Aug 2015 14:45:19 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 2B Kolten Wong is out of the lineup Saturday, Aug. 22, with 3B Matt Carpenter shifting to second base. 1B Mark Reynolds is playing third and hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Reynolds ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) isn't a good play against Ian Kennedy in Petco Park on FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Mark Reynolds starting against Miami

Fri, 14 Aug 2015 14:44:11 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Mark Reynolds is starting at first base and hitting eighth against Miami Marlins SP Tom Koehler Friday, Aug. 14. 1B Brandon Moss is starting on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Brandon Moss has been slumping badly since his arrival in trade deadline deal from Cleveland, so Reynolds ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) starts against a righty. Reynolds has power to spare but swings and misses often (93 K's in 284 at-bats). He's a low-end first base option on FantasyScore, especially while sitting at the bottom of the lineup.

Cardinals | Peter Bourjos starting in center field

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 13:37:42 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Peter Bourjos is starting in center field and batting eighth against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Francisco Liriano Thursday, Aug. 13. OF Brandon Moss and 1B Mark Reynolds are not in the starting lineup Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid both Reynolds ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) and Moss ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) at FantasyScore Thursday, but Bourjos ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) isn't a strong start, either. It is Bourjos' first start since Tuesday, July 28, and he owns an uninspiring .222/.321/.341 slash line for the season.

Cardinals | Brandon Moss on bench vs. southpaw

Tue, 11 Aug 2015 14:41:14 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Brandon Moss is not in the lineup against Pittsburgh Pirates left-handed SP Jeff Locke Tuesday, Aug. 11. 1B Mark Reynolds is starting at first base and hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Moss and Reynolds ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) are likely to be involved in a platoon at first base moving forward. Reynolds has plenty of power but is hitting only .223 (62-for-278) with 93 strikeouts, and the low lineup placement limits his FantasyScore appeal as a sleeper tonight against Locke.

Cardinals | Mark Reynolds playing first base

Sun, 02 Aug 2015 11:07:03 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Mark Reynolds will bat seventh against Colorado Rockies SP Yohan Flande Sunday, Aug. 2. 1B/OF Brandon Moss is receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Reynolds ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has historically hit well against southpaws, although he is just batting 208 against lefties this season, as opposed to .230 versus righties. Better options can probably be found in FantasyScore for a similar price.

Cardinals | Mark Reynolds starting vs. Rockies

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 13:53:20 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Mark Reynolds is starting at first base and batting seventh against Colorado Rockies SP Chris Rusin Thursday, July 30.

Fantasy Tip: Reynolds ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has historically fared well against left-handed hurlers, but this season, he is just 16-for-75 with a .709 OPS. You should likely aim higher at FantasyScore, and with Brandon Moss ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) landing with the Cards, Reynolds may be relegated to more of a bench role.

Cardinals | Mark Reynolds starting at 1B

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 16:55:36 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Mark Reynolds (hand) is starting at first base against Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake Tuesday, July 28, and is batting sixth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Reynolds ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is hitting only .206 this month but does have four home runs and nine RBI during that span. Owners may be able to find better options to use on FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Mark Reynolds sitting

Mon, 27 Jul 2015 14:50:55 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Mark Reynolds (hand) is not in the starting lineup again Monday, July 27. 1B Dan Johnson is starting at first base and is hitting seventh against Cincinnati Reds SP Raisel Iglesias.

Fantasy Tip: Reynolds has a sore left hand after being hit by a pitch over the weekend. Avoid him for now. Johnson ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has just two hits in 14 at-bats for the Cardinals, and he should be avoided on FantasyScore unless you're desperate for some salary cap relief for your daily lineup.
